Rules
1: Don't be an ass. This really should go without saying, but I have played with some unique people on this site. Simply put; don't be rude. Also, if something offends you, politely message the person who did so. Don't cause a big stink in the OOC about it.

     1.1: If someone is being an ass, you can send a complaint to me. Only send a complaint to me if the player has not stopped upon your asking. If I get enough complaints about a player (roughly 3), I will remove them from the game.

     1.2: Let me repeat that: DO NOT ARGUE IN THE OOC!! Seriously. It makes the game look bad, and puts a damper on the mood of everyone who checks the OOC thread. If you really want to argue with someone, do it in private. I will remove players who repeatedly break this rule.

2: If you're character does not know something, you cannot act like they do. Meta-gaming breaks the immersion for many players. Planning your actions in an OOC thread is perfectly fine, but mentioning the maximum damage the enemy can do and planning around it, is not. If your character does not know something, and you want them to, make a roll as per House Rule #1.

3: Always speak in a color. It's pretty annoying to read your post, when there is no distinction between when your character is speaking and when they are not. Your dialogue should be in a color, but actions should not. If your character is thinking something, but not doing it, use italics.

4: Keep OOC to it's own thread. Don't ask someone in the middle of a fight with Orcs if they enjoy WH40K. If you need to ask a rules question, and want to do it in the IC thread, type it in orange. All rolls should also be in orange.

5: I don't expect you to have flawless grammar and spelling, but please try. RPoL has a spell-checker built in, and it takes hardly any time. It just saves us all the annoyance of seeing 'comon words speld rong'.

6: Please don't make one-liner posts constantly. Conversely, don't type a novel for each post. Try to find a happy medium. The occasional one-liner or novel when it makes sense is fine. Just don't do it constantly.

7: If you're going to leave the game, please let me know. It's much more polite to me and the other players. Your group could wind up waiting for you otherwise. I'm not gonna be mad if you have to leave the game for personal reasons, or just simply don't have the time.

8: The GM's word is law. If I have made a decision regarding the rules, then you may suggest changes or question it. However, it is not to be argued against. I only change rules when required.

House Rules
This is where all the quirks of my style of GMing will go. Just in case they are needed. These rules are more to do with the rules of 5e, rather than my rules in regards to this game. If that makes any sense.

1: We are not using Initiative here. Deal with it. PCs will move before NPCs in all cases. The order actions are resolved in is the order of posting, unless you specify that you wish to hold your action. This is to attempt and speed combat up, as this will be a combat-heavy game.

2: All variant humans get their free feat at level 4. This is to nerf the power of variant humans, which almost always started out stronger than all other races.

3: The HP you gain from leveling up is added to both your current HP and your max. Leveling up can only be done outside of combat.

4: To retrieve spent arrows, you roll Perception. The DC is 15. If you pass, you get half of your spent arrows back. Failure means you get nothing. You can only retrieve arrows that missed their target. Arrows that hit are deemed unusable due to damage. Round the roll up, if needed (1.5 arrows is impossible, so it would be 2 arrows retrieved).

5: Darts are considered to also have the 'Light' weapon trait.

6: If you are hidden during combat, and make an attack, Perception checks made to find you will have advantage. This applies for monsters, as well. Certain battlefields will not have any valid places to hide. At any time in combat, you may ask me how many valid hiding spots there are (that you can see).

7: During your run, you can build support from the fans/taunt the fans. Roll Persuasion/Performance/Intimidation (obviously, Intimidate if you want to taunt them). If successful, you will get an item. If not, you may get a rock to the head! You can only build support/taunt once per room. It gets harder each time you succeed, and easier each time you fail. Obviously, you can only interact with the crowd if there is one. Certain rooms in the various dungeons simply don't have live spectators.

8: Resting is not possible during runs. There may be a sponsored rest area just before the boss of the dungeon, though. Resting is perfectly fine (and recommended) in those rooms.

9: If you wish to watch another group's run, feel free to ask. You will be given access to the thread on the understanding that you will not post there. If you wish to RP as an audience member for another group, let me know. We'll work out how that will go in private.

10: All rooms are 10' tall unless explicitly stated otherwise.

08/20/17: Added House Rule #15, pertaining to viewing other threads and RPing as an audience member in them.
11/22/17: Added House Rule #16, pertaining to the broken Fog Cloud and trying to fix it.
12/13/17: House Rule #16 has been rescinded as per the West Marches. It has been replaced by the new House Rule #16, pertaining to looting.
05/31/18: Clarification made to House Rule #11, pertaining to exit doors. Rule #8.7 has been created (the acceptance of Xanathat's). Addition information has been added to Rule #8, pertaining to allowed material.
09/16/18: House Rule #17 (ceiling height) has been added. I'll clean up this thread at a later date.
10/17/18: The Rules and House Rules have been cleaned up. Give everything a look over. Nothing much has really changed, just it became a lot clearer. I hope.
