The First Descent - OOC
For things pertaining to your dungeoneering so as to not get use to using the standard OOC to ask things. This is to keep others from finding out key clues if they have not been to a certain part of the dungeon yet. Not a problem as we only have one group but as the game gets more people this is a good practice to have.

Nope. They killed it before it got to you. He has an ability that gives him hp back upon killing certain things. Thus the 4 hp.

The ten minutes includes talking about and the time walking from the tavern to the well.  Down here is about 30 seconds, with at most another 30 on the rope for most of us.

So I've been thinking about traps in play-by-post games, and how they tend to bring momentum screeching to a halt (exhibit A, this game right now) because checking for traps usually has several stages: roll to look at thing, dm response, carefully prod thing/interact with found trap, dm response, proceed, wait for dm response to find out whether a trap we missed gets sprung, and this process often hinges on a single character doing the looking/prodding. Any solutions I've thought of either sacrifice versimilitude (eg. DM tells us up front whether a thing needs to be checked carefully so that we don't have to carefully check every door and floor tile of his megadungeon) or sacrifice an aspect of the game (the existence of traps and hazards in general).

Maybe anytime we want to check if something is safe we have up to three people roll perception or sleight of hand(?) and the DM narrates us looking, prodding/disarming and proceeding, and the results thereof, based on just those rolls?

Even on a table traps are cumbersome.

The only way I have ever seen traps work in pbp is to have the gm do the whole thing from detection to disarming or saves behind the scenes.

All we see are results as part of the descripton of the new room.

Yeah that sounds like it'd be best, if the GM wants to do that. GM burnout is also a pbp killer, we gotta take that into consideration.

Well, as usual 5e has a simpler if not expressly better option for us to use.  Just hit every trap detection step with a passive 10+bonus compared vs DC, we get it or we eat the trap and move on.

If you want I can do the rolls for you. Or the rogue character can just pre roll. True this lets someone know if they are gonna get hit by the next trap or not due to their rolls but it speeds things up as well. I can see how traps slow folks down so I don't PLAN on having just a ton. There should be enough to keep people on their toes though. How do you guys feel we should handle traps? Everyone is welcome to voice their opinion though I want my trap rollers to chime in for sure.

Iím fine with you rolling. Really this is more realistic because we wonít know our rolls,  just the description you give us. If we fail the role royally we'll have no idea. I think we need to declare it though. ď Iím checking the door for traps. Then you take it from there.

I think I'm indifferent. I'm all for streamlining so if pre-rolling by the DM works then that's fine with me.

please clarify, is the "person in the room" in the room beyond the door that Cordin just opened?

Go to the game map tap next to the dice roller, pick the map for group A in the drop down list, and hit select. It's just a simple map of the cell Dags was in.

Yeah I hand drew the entire place on graph paper and had my wife can it then I put it together. It's not the best art but it serves well enough for you to get the point, I hope. It also doubles as a quick combat map. Did you not see it during the last fight?
