14g vacation time

Pick a holiday planet - options
Arduin - travelling across is especially arduous.
The Rock - only place with 'instant portaling'
Kelarn - LG so a bit repressive; likely to meet interdimensional-capable jerks.
T&T universe - is a good spot for a month off.

After a couple of days sorting treasure etc. and using 3-P portals to put gems into an extra attoplane (extra layer of security in case keep invaded from The Rock).

So Rhaelph - can easily get out in Khosht, again.
[adding +1 Yuurk]

11:29, Today: Garek rolled 8 using 1d8.  Random character - T&T world.
The sage, while on Rhaelph.

11:30, Today: Garek rolled 1,3 using d4,d10.  CC adventure event.
Misadventure on another planet (T&T world is another planet)

11:32, Today: Garek rolled 8 using 2d8.  Otherworld events.
Roll the event but it happens on this other world.
-Maybe treat as Rock of Bral (other world) not T&T world.

11:34, Today: Garek rolled 1 using 1d3.  additional events.
11:34, Today: Garek rolled 4,7 using d4,d10.  additional events.

Character is made a 'close advisor of a local ruler' - so maybe they're the one on an alien planet [Rock of Bral]
Sage can retire with all his gold and a lucrative job, to some other planet in the D&D universe.
Translator - battery would run down eventually.
Would he like to swap a Helm of Comprehend Languages for a Helm of Brilliance ? [35%]

11:36, Today: Garek rolled 93 using 1d100.  Swapping Helms (35%).
Extreme no (very valuable).
PCs have a spare anyway.

-no extra 'pension fund' - was always a hireling and didn't do much.

PCs - letting him go to the planet rather than causing trouble..(following)

Should the PCs move to Trollworld (or somewhere else).
The Rock - originally useful for targeted teleports.
Now have the Keep - actually just need to move the portal out of the keep to wherever they want to go ??
-destroy and recreate (100K)?
? Move the whole house including the door (including the portal) to somewhere else.
Large teleport ?
-Estate Transference could move to elemental plane for example.

Ideas:

To do:
move Keep to another world/base - problem people useful but a security risk.

Wants: need to 'upgrade' dimensional travel - so as to move at will.
Plane Shift: when cleric power reaches L9 ??

Potentially can use portal ability to go to Caliban even though its 'disconnected' from a world.
May be outside time as well as space - could anchor into portal.

Ring of Before - potentially, now would be a good time to do Trip of the Lion...
With Ring of Before it may be possible.
Meh..

Take a year off

Splitting up and doing weirder adventures for a couple of months?
e.g.
Sea of Mystery
Sewers of Oblivion

Problems - item slots ??
Need to increase combat power to deal with Caliban ?
So, really need Time Travel.

-transferred 2nd Yuurk to Harcourt (sage left before going to the Rock).

Treasure gotten rid of buy 10x Smog bomb.

44,000 GP.
-spend 18,000 for silver bars (36 bars) - keeping rest in case need a lot of silver for something.
-5000 GP (Beoll-Dur)
33 pieces of jewelry (8+ are rings) worth 9760 g.s.
another 240 (converted from jewellery
11,000 jewellery

Burn say 2000 GP each [14,000] on partying for a month.

Selling Spider Helm for 75,000 GP.

caliban prep ?

Actually even finding the dungeon means travelling back say d1000 years.
To move backwards, could:
-go backward by going forward super-fast,
then move back by spending time in worlds with slower rate (should be less dangerous than 'high TE' worlds where rate is especially fast).
Already could do - with the Boots of Time + the Time Piece.
However, its only possible with one person.
Even if had multiple boots, may not be in synch.

-maybe objective should be to find a better way to do time travel.
There are ways, actually: what we really need maybe more than Y/N, actually need some sort of 'limited omniscience' - work out e.g. Dragonlance Time Journeying, Krynn tinker gnomes,
Steward of Time.

Pretend don't know anything:
"Is there a way to travel through time on any of the worlds we've visited so far" - Yes.
On Arduin - obviously there are, crazy numbers of time items.
Find arduin spell that does it? [super-Phraints?]
Search through Ardemus' tome finds "Time Lining" (level 15) - if he doesn't have it, its basically impossible to Arduin magic. Though Caliban itself time travels [forwards]

"Is it possible to find some sort of way to travel backward in time, and survive, on Trollworld?" - yes.
"On Rhaelph?" - no (technically).
On unicorn continent - no
Eagle continent - no
Currently stumped as to where it is

Exact mapping: With 24 questions can pinpoint to an exact timezone (according to the Wizard's Guild). On the globe - time zone would be a vertical strip which actually includes mostly Rhaelph, plus the island of Gull.
Does Biorom know how to travel in time - no.
In gull - yes

* 21:35, Today: Garek rolled 13 using 1d24.  number of questions asked before finding correct time zone.
-main map: Khavad, Gharr and Phoron all share time zone (+possible further north/south islands, but likely to start with those - no more than 3 qu)
*Cronus mentioned in marek's description of the city (Deluxe) as a godling.

GW - finding the time travel thingy.
1 qu/hr average so 2 days of questioning so far (during pissup time).

Capability - do we need to find a specific person, object, spell, a literal portal through time.

Is it worth finding - at this point, fairly mysterious but could be a one-way thing e.g. portal.

Asking 'the way to find it' since might need to do something rather than just find a place. Could be an 'event' seems logical.

On surface or in sewers? [already explored sewers]
Is the way to find it in the sewers - no.

Very powerful ability so would be tough to get.
Assume one person only (for reasons).

Does the way exist or is it currently accessible, rather than being in some past or future time? - yes.
Could it be potentially used to reach Caliban ? - yes. [would be easy with Cronus' powers]

assume PCs have no knowledge of Cronus.
Random questions, several?
Is there a portal in a particular location - say 'no'
Is it a spell? - no
Is it an item? - no
Is it a person? - yes (either Cronus or you if you become Steward)

**Basically know there's a particular person in Gull - who can time travel.

Question of - how to find this particular person.
Asking specific location is iffy since they may move around.

How to get them to help? - they'd obviously be insanely dangerous (maybe could go back in time and just delete you).
-could wear the 'time piece' to protect from...
[which actually would cause them to not be saved...]

really difficult - could we *wish* to know what we'd need to do to obtain time travel powers in Gull?

22:38, Today: Garek rolled 54 using 1d100.  wish item for sale, rock of bral (10%).
22:39, Today: Garek rolled 40 using 1d100.  wish item for sale, kelarn (10%).
two YN questions determine is useless.
Pool of Knowledge - would totally be up to grant such a wish.

-try to find a place where a Wish is available for sale.[item]
-easy solution; find someone who is of the correct alignment, take them to the Wishing Pool we've already found. Can then just pay them 50,000 GP for their wish (fair market value).
Cha check to convince someone?
Easier when actually on the other world. Can use YN questions to determine correct alignment.

OK lets go.
Redoing: Pangaea adventure. [#9]
First off: returning to 3-P dimension. From there - can get money needed.

1 continent
Old roll for reference:
21:32, Today: Arek rolled 7 using 1d20.  Area [map 1,2,3,4 a-e].

Former Wish location - island off shore, near

dungeon area is NE, number B ---'7' on d20.

22:54, Today: Garek rolled 13 using 1d20.  initial gate location.
Obviously wrong location (33%)

22:55, Today: Garek rolled 95 using 1d100.  obviously wrong location (50%).
'in a forest, somewhere else'
"is this the elven forest" - no.
Go for within the correct *quadrant* (25%) - i.e. roll of 6-10.

23:00, Today: Garek rolled 8 using 1d20.  trial 4.
..through we go.
8 is actually only 5% away..further inland but probably still in the elven forest.

11:06, Today: Garek rolled 5 using 1d6.  random encounters.
-no random encounters (monster type) initially.
Shortly would be accosted by elves asking to explain their presence.

11:12, Today: Garek rolled 3 using 1d20.  Charisma check - Marsa.
So far, so good. Should be able to progress deeper into elven lands?
Near edge? any rivers nearby going to coast (33%)

11:13, Today: Garek rolled 64 using 1d100.  Likelihood of rivers running to coast (33%). - nope.

11:15, Today: Garek rolled 86 using 1d100.  elf village nearby (01 = closer).
-virtually uninhabited. Maybe a non-elven part of the elven woods (elves live here, so do other things). Making camp - was a village on the island, so should be able to teleport there over time.

11:21, Today: Garek rolled 13 using 1d20.  Power check - Antaeus, Garek teleporting.
Can do if up to 10,000 miles; should be under 1000 (just).
Can't dream travel since short means - in the sea.
Gaynor - can guard the camp. Garek - slightly better at telepathy (in theory) if looking for NPC.

11:23, Today: Garek rolled 1 using 1d6.  possible trouble on arrival.

-unusually belligerent locals don't want them to enter the village. Because they're weird and talking in their heads!
Anyone living outside village - 75%?

11:28, Today: Garek rolled 82 using 1d100.  People living outside village.
-must be dangerous no one.

Trying bribery to get in?

12:24, Today: Garek rolled 4 using 1d20.  Antaeus (Cha roll to come inside with gold);-4 can't speak penalty.

13:32, Today: Garek rolled 1 using 1d3.  Gaynor on watch.

OK treason roll.
14:33, Today: Garek rolled 17 using 1d100.  15% chance of treason. !!
He's pretty scared of the PCs.

"I wish Garek here would know all the details of the ways to travel in time found near the City of Gull, the exact means or path by which these would be obtained or used and what perils might be involved in their use."

'Garek here' - specifies this Garek and not others so can't be left out.
Should've more definetely identified. Probably (50%) loses knowledge if he leaves.

14:35, Today: Garek rolled 32 using 1d100.  likelihood of losing knowledge if leaves (50%).
-yep.

He can however describe exactly how to Antaeus.
-transfers images with Telepathy also.
The godling Cronus has the power - steward of time - can choose people from their dying moment, forces them to go through a challenge - if you win can challenge him. Very powerful in combat.
Paths:
-on way to Marek's house, flying saucer, if attack the guy there with magic
-the archer's guild, if refuse to go in
-if captured by slavers on way to Marek's house, disobeys vampire.

14:35, Today: Garek rolled 32 using 1d100.  likelihood of losing knowledge if leaves (50%)
14:40, Today: Garek rolled 65 using 1d100.  want to go to elven forest (5%).

Return to Khosht
[+1 Yuurk]

Pool of Greatness - would greatly increase power for Gaynor, and/or Garek
[+2 Str/Dex, or triple in Naked Doom]
-should that be capped, given its normally only for starting characters there could be a limit that's unspecified.

Omniflex Dex/Str ?? [Skull Starr would then double]
Hela's House of Dark Delights - super stat raise ??

travel to Khazan:

"Is it possible [for Gaynor] to get the power to defeat Cronus in Hela's house of delights?" - yes.
Very wary of, but curious about, after mystery note - time travel.
Or - Trip of the Lion ?

Hey, let's do it..
..can always use the Ring of Before.

15:09, Today: Garek rolled 3,6 using d6,d6.  Gaynor L7 luck save.
15:10, Today: Garek rolled 3 using 1d6.  stat modified. - Luck

After determining an attribute, multiply it by your own level number.) “You have your wish,” she tells you.
Multiply Luck x7

Your time in Hela's House of Dark Delights is now finished. Before you is an obsidian door with the rune for Exit etched on its surface in living flame. You are told that you cannot re-enter the House until you have participated in an adventure somewhere beyond the city of Khazan - the Entrance door simply will not open for you. The Elf maid holds the door open and you pass through, back into the mean streets of the city of monsters.

When the door closes there is no sign of the obsidian pyramid. Your experience seems like a dream to you unless you have some physical token to prove its reality. You are totally unaware that half of your life-force has been drained from you at the end. (Reduce CON by half. In case of fractions, round down. A character with a CON of 1 would die at this point.) You have paid Hela's price - hopefully you got your wish for it.

Abusing time travel (for fun and profit)
-returns to the others to see what they're up to.

Meddling with time/space:
after a month would notice CON loss; can offset with Ring of Before. So freebies!

Can try to travel back to Caliban - never been there before so unlikely to cause paradox problems.

world splitting ??
-could be gratuitiously abused.
Steal it; duplicate it; put one duplicate back.
No one actually the wiser...past time itself not altered; object slightly older but is exactly the same 'molecules' even.

-if going to the trouble of a duplication, may as well duplicate a bunch of different things at the same time.
Things to steal: '+7 material' as listed in Arduin books.

Sapphire-blue metal an alloy of black mithril, orichalcum and the other material.
Forged by the High Elves. Weapon of awesome power forged - 'not seen since'.
Single blow splitting adamantium armour of the Godling Ophondurax and slew him outright'.
'at least +7'. Other properties unknown.
Forging taking 13 years.
-broken arrow 'harbinger' 300,000 years ago (also elven).

Kyrrad weaponry:

The meteor, in space - would need to put back with exactly same kinetic energy, = bad.
Once fallen - is small - did it fall in a populated area? 'The flame' was sighted.

*Steward of Time powers - wouldn't work in Arduin dimension, say. Would have to use in T&T universe, then dimensionally-travel over.

Problem that little currently known.
'ghost form' and going back in time ? - as way to be invisible and so not alter anything.
Scrying, finding books, etc.
asking sages even - likely to disturb reality.
May be 'ejected into limbo' ... though that's better than causing a paradox.

Even slight changes (killing one person, giving someone a bunch of gold) cause serious issues.

Difficulty forging:  -could possibly sort out in SenZar universe.
300,000 GP for one arrow of it.
Repeated rounds of duplication, however annoying, could turn an arrow into a lot of the stuff.

-if steward of time powers worked that would be super useful, but those would be 'god-given'.
-could just stop time, steal the arrow, duplicate the arrow, drop it back at exactly the right time.

-wish could take the meteor and exactly copy its momentum/position.

Basically - want 'interdimensional scrying' which could let us figure out what's going on, while in the T&T universe where we can avoid too many problems.
Set time running backwards for me, observe meteor going through space and find other chunks/origin of it.
[man-made/in a ship? in a star? ?]

YN again - pinpoint exact time of disaster [in T&T years]
slowed rotation began with Caliban, only 20K years ago. Longer years - orbit around sun not affected? would be >700,000 years, normal time.!

??Should we shelve this until after taking out Caliban ?
Well, it might help potentially?
Only thing that would possibly help would be wishes

"Is it possible to get wishes in Caliban" - the last time it appeared? - Yes
(Phoenix, 5% chance if resurrected) (fat chance).

Yn questions about meteor ? - 'Other than the meteor, is there more of the stuff elsewhere in the Arduin universe? [currently]?
If its a 'weird' substance - likely to be a transuranic - short half-life, may have been artificially stabilized by the elves somehow. [magic] In native state, would also be radioactive.

-think that decision good since reinforces its rarity.

10:31, Today: Garek rolled 44 using 1d100.  likelihood there's more? [5%].

10:33, Today: Garek rolled 87,35,11 using d100,d100,d100.  GMing complications.
NPC negative; Return; Emotions.
-PCs know the Sage would love to be involved in the hunt for Kyrrad...as a lost treasure.

caliban prep ?

REALLY having trouble trying to break this time-travel thing.

Milk it while we can, probably.
So travel back and run a duplication event.

-Can 'stack' multiple copies of yourself at one time, using time travel.
With the Ring of Before that would mean we could have multiple portals going at once.

ARDUIN UNIVERSE           ARDUIN UNIVERSE
   |                     ^
   |                     |
   V                     |
T&T UNIVERSE]          T&T UNIVERSE
[time travel]
   V                      |
DUPLICATION UNIVERSE -----|

Currently - plot needs 4 different dimensional portals, with T&T universe used at least twice for time travel.
Object is either a) in space
b) in an unknown location
c) heavily guarded as a priceless object
Or most of the above.

"Would the T&T universe ever have a duplication event" - that would cut it down to two trips.
Because the goal is to take the object and return it immediately, the same portal could work for T&T/Arduin in both directions - travel BACK, run duplication over a week, return to the portal.

Except that portals are at a random location on the planet!
That'd make a space raid easier.
That still leaves a) position b) forging
Strong possibility of altering continuum because event was so long ago.

Did the crash of the meteor somehow temper or modify the meteor - small amount obtained vs. the 'great light' seen - in space likely to have been a large rock rather than just the ore pocket.

If we need to just steal an arrow worth of the stuff anyway [1/3 of sword] - then, may as well do it IN THE PRESENT instead of a million years ago.

"Kyrrad" - the name itself means "radiation" [the glow]
Examiner could notice that.

*potential that NO kyrrad actually exists at the current time due to half-life..

Did exist 300,000 years ago (500,000 years ago).
Long enough ago material itself could have simply disintegrated (e.g. underwater).

caliban prep ?

To be feasible we need:
-time travel (Yes)
-a duplicator dimension (Yes)
-interdimensional scrying (No)
-ability to precisely target dimensional portals (No) or another way to generate these.
-not needed if mining the meteor itself (small target)
-survival in deep space ability (adaptation) - (Yes, Harcourt only)
-ability to stop time in a targeted area (e.g. steal 'the sword' or 'the arrow' so no one is the wiser)
[would prevent ejection into limbo and also relative velocity problem]
Check grimoire ??

-a wish (needs to be from Arduin dimension) to restore exact velocities
-expert metallurgist to forge the stuff (takes 13 years) - available on SenZar.
-exact time keeping to not screw this up - The Time Piece
[might also protect from being ejected into limbo]
[so might time/space anchor]

-ability to pinpoint exact arrival time ? - not required in deep space.
Can use multiple (like 50) questions to get a rough arrival time and then just go back further, probably anytime between 'arrival' and '-10000 years' so less specific. Still tricky.

OVERALL: basically its easier mining the meteor.
Assume is too large to fit through a portal [the flash]
Moving through space - the problem is

**time 'ejecting' you into limbo for interfering with past events
-hasn't interfered with deodanths or super-phraints. May be specific problem with Time Line.

Portal - vs. meteor that's a moving object ?? Likely to not match velocity exactly.

OK to summarize we have:
time travel, ability to mine in vacuum [? - may need Harcourt to borrow steward getup]
need: temporal stasis (to open portal to correct fixed point) - would require an almost indefinite time stop.
with time stopped, also wouldn't be ejected into limbo etc.
*a wish (...from Arduin universe) -in order to restore object to correct speed etc.

*time stop - Steward of Time can generate extra rounds but costs 15/round (lots of energy! :()

if could open portal to exact time of star falling - well, it probably would've buried deep into crust.

Time Travel: there IS another time travel thing that could be useful.
[the blue magazine for T&T ?]
If can acquire time machine proper, that would possibly work in other dimensions.
Using Steward powers to look for 'temporal deviations' to find the machine.
