Re: OOC 1

Barring a better action, Herald is going to pull all the connections in the terminal. This is what he understands will kill the radar, without too much harm to the systems he's doing it to.

The machine is people, too, as far as he's concerned. It's like a dog; it didn't ask to be in this mess, but here it is, growling at us and baring teeth. Sorry, Cujo - I'm sure you were a good boy before the bad demon got a grip on you, but we have to stop you using the means we have available.

Re: OOC 1

Hey Bellissima I feel your frustration too.  I'm not even sure the Supervillians know FORCE has abandoned them and booth means of escape are pretty much leaving the sinking ship. The Base 'may' have a computer room.. but is it worth the effort to fight through the supervillians to find it ...only for them to likely spoilsport and blow it up anyways? 'shrug'

Especially in light of our US Navy ally, Col Flag being fed who knows what false intel from a FORCE Robotic agent that HE knows nothing about?!?

Re: OOC 1

Well, we are at least running into the logic of the situation. There's a good reason not to inform my character that you are trying to upload a virus, and you have no good means of silently communicating that point even if trust was given. I'm using the information I was given through the brief research that was done, and it indicated that this was the solution to the problem - which is running counter to your solution, which isn't going to increase trust.

Which is unfortunate, but I'm hoping the situation is tolerable to everyone... he said sheepishly, hoping the entire room does not turn on them. I've got to figure out a way to reduce that friction, though. That can become a problem in more ways then just in-game.

If this disabled the radar at the installation, then a bombardment is coming, which I'm to understand was the plan. If it did not disable their defenses, though, then this is being done The Obvious Way, which I don't like either.

Also, "blah blah thousand post limit" all that.

Re: OOC 1

Thanks Justicar. :)  And at this point, not really worth running down the computer room.  Although Bellissima memorized the map we were shown, but she isn't sure how much she can trust it at this point, or even if a non-robot could even access anything in it.

No worries Winter Herald. ;)

The Marines were supposed to land after we knocked out the Radar Room and capture anyone on here for being part of FORCE, but have no idea if that is even an option anymore.

Re: OOC 1

Yeah.. as I see it our best bet is to evac this base and hope the US Navy doesn't shoot at us as we do so.  And as fast as possible Get this video footage that Justicar has to the Military Intelligence analysts to make rapid action on the details.  We are going to VERY MUCH SO NEED Bellissima to Id robots within our ranks so ONLY trustworthy folks are made known of this intel.

Even still, we have no guarantee FORCE doesn't have perfectly human and Brainwashed operatives in the official channels of power and command even in the US Military!

Re: OOC 1

Marine landing? The idea of the amphibious assault would surprise Winter Herald - his wager was an aerial bombardment. He'd note that while formidable, he'd rather like his own odds against a squad of conventional infantry, even if they are Marines.

He wouldn't fight them standing if it came to it. He'd just fight them in passing and ambush them over and over again, like a samurai in an anime. The scale of fighting Herald is capable of is not compatible with small range skirmishes.

And that's just him - Winter Herald is hoping he is unique and over-designed rather than the standard officer model. He knows one of these beings is a cryokinetic, another can create images, FORCE has fanatical machines likely in reserve - he would not like their chances if he knew it was marine infantry, and would insist they not advance unless they were ready for multiple superhuman-class foes.

Then again, they might be.

Re: OOC 1

I might think the 'typical' Marine squad of 2x riflemen, 1x command, 1x medic/comms officer and 1x heavy weapons would be modified ~ since they know supers are involved to a 2x Rifleman, 2x Heavy weapon-{1x Hvy/Medic} / {1x Hvy/Comms}, 1x Hvy Command would be an appropriate approach to Super Powered Beings {SPB's} as a response.

I think if you know your facing SPB's there's a lot of crap you can do to prepare and be ready for that... within reason.

Re: OOC 1

It's a numbers thing. The military believes ten soldiers can take down most supers. Mechanics-wise, the game reads the same. Justicar and Winter Herald have armor with seams, in both cases there is a one in four chance of any attack sneaking around the armor to do damage. If the soldiers use standard assault rifles firing short bursts, the damage would be two and a half (1/4 of 10) times two (short burst) times 4d6 (average 14). That would be seventy points of damage getting past the armor with the first attack.
If they can get the marines to the beach, the supervillains won't be an issue.

'Shrug' I didn't max out Justicar's AR cause I felt that would be abusive, so he only has a AR of 15.
He's not supposed to be invulnerable.. just durable.

In my case, I'm limited by my android form. Abandoning the imitation meat would have increased by durability significantly.

Well, good luck to them. If this is objective complete, then someone will need to stall the enemy advance as we withdraw. If it is not, then things are going to get a bit spicy.

My point was that, except for Chimp Man Z, neither the heroes nor the villains could withstand a sustained military assault. It's why I set the "no mega-heroes" house rule.

Re: OOC 1

The good about super-speed: I can effectively engage in "stealth" in a meaningful way by hit and running enemy forces without forcing the rest of the party to partake in "stealth" with me.

The bad about super-speed: GMs hate it, because it sometimes forces them to increase the size of the tactical map just for one person who is doing this.

After I know what Lite Star's sort of up to, I'm intending to come at Snowblind from the right. By which I mean the hall above room 16 as opposed to the hall where bugs and gorillas have stopped moving for unknown reasons to Herald. I should be able to build up meaningful velocity to crash into Snowblind cross-guard first, just a charging punch - I'll sort out if he's an ally after he wakes up from the bludgeoning I intend to deliver.

He doesn't know what the heck magic is - so I'm not playing him as someone who has yet grasped this strange set of scientific principals. Once it is explained to him, it will sort of make sense to him. But right now, he knows weird stuff is happening and he doesn't know why, so he's just rolling with it.

Hey does "carpet of adhesion" extend into the air above it? Did Cicada land or touch the surface of the hallway?  Did Golait cast it on the wall and ceiling as well?

@Lite Star did you say the call to retreat over the radio?  I wouldn't have heard it just speaking out loud as I'm in another room.

So, let's calculate - Goliat and Bellissma are both Super-Invisible, and I don't know Maharaja's speed. The rest involved have a Speed of either "yes" or "effectively yes." Most of us should make it out quickly enough.

Goliat focused the spell on Cicada, and Cicada was in the air. The sticky part is a few inches off the ground, which still means characters get stuck if they pass through.
