Center City - The Harmon Building

The Harmon Building was created for The Harmon Insurance Company during the Roaring Twenties. It is said Jeremiah Harmon had such a fear that the building would collapse and make the company look bad that he spared no expense in creating his "fifteen stories to last a millenia". The fact that The Harmon Insurance Company crashed with the rest of the country just a dozen years later makes the building no less impressive. But the truly amazing thing about the building is the additions. By the time Carter Manning bought it the building had grown to thirty stories. Always the one to maintain both tradition and progress, Carter Manning revitalized the structure. Using innovative techniques to strengthen the lowest portions of the building and replacing some bad decisions, it was determined to be strong enough to extend higher. Ten stories later, the top was capped off by Crusader Citadel. The top four floors were the most modern and technologically advanced in the city.
The structure has become iconic, and a symbol for Center City. It was only natural that Holly Cook's bungie jump occurred from the Harmon. The platform, extending over the intersection of Center and Lake Street, looks as ominous as such a stunt sounds. But it's still not known what really happened to Holly Cook.

Center City - The Harmon Building

Justicar stood on the North West corner of the Center Street and Lake Street intersection directly diagonal from the corner of the North West corner of the Harmon Building ~ The Crusader's HQ.  He monitored his sensors and his Quantum Pulse Particle Sensor's readings while communicating with the Center City Police Department officers to maintain the security cordon redirecting all traffic and civilian pedestrians away from the entire area.  The northern shops closed, the South Hotel  evacuated, and the western food market closed for public safety making the area at the center of Center City almost a ghost town... however there was no stopping the mass of spectators gathering at the cordon at the heart of the city to watch the three Sentinel's ~ Justicar, Winter Herald and Crusader monitoring the empty street intersection where the promotional Jump by Caveat Allure's star model Holly Cook bungee jumped some 24 hours ago and inexplicably vanished in mysterious a flash of blue radiance.

Hikari insisted in patient monitoring of his sensors as Winter voiced his annoyance at the seeming uneventful waiting...

But Justicar waited certain the public safety was at risk if the Sentinels did not monitor the situation thoroughly... despite the current quiet... as Justicar expected, before the storm...

Bellissima was in a bit of shock that she was facing a T-Rex in real life.  Itt took her a couple of seconds to realize she should inform Justicar that he was right about his concern and warn the others as she activated the hands free radio and got on the encrypted LESP channel,   She announced to all Sentinels. Hopefully this warning would be useful for Justicar  and his team at the disappearance site.

Justicar did not react from his monitoring but did comment, "...no, not in THIS Dimension!  T-Rex had, as far as fossil record shows ~ at least, only two eyes.  Clearly, at least one of the Dimensional Thresholds is still Quantum entangled to open periodically.  We must wait to see if this Threshold is also still active."

He pauses, "Karl, what is Justicar-PALADIN's assembly progress status? I... may have need of... Larger Support."

+Justicar-PALADIN is currently at 67% completion.+

"Specify ~ Remaining systems still off-line?"

+Currently, weapon targeting systems in calibration-phase, no Weapons or ordinance installed.+

Justicar nodded, "Understood. Prep for deployment anyways... I still may have need of it."

+That is ... Ill-advized Son, but preparation in-progress.+

"I have certainly conceived the idea of a rhetorical question, and I would presume others have as well." Winter Herald's tone made it impossible to tell whether he was being serious or not. "I do, however, know that these portals are not reopening to our planet, or if they are, it isn't our time and every paleontologist is about to rewrite their understanding of dinosaurs again."

"But this is curious. Why is the one in New York reopening and this one is not? Is it because we are attempting to open it, rather like how the equipment needed to observe subatomic matter causes that matter to behave differently than if we were not observing it?" He would find that a strange stroke of luck if the efforts they had been engaging in to open the gate on this side were insuring it did not do so, but it also meant that the bank might have a solution to their problem.

Justicar was alerted to a new LESP Email from the Phoenix Foundation postulating the data of the Dimensional occurrences and extrapolating a possible timed correspondence.

Turning to Crusader and Winter Herald, "It seems likely if the dimension thresholds in both locations were created by the same device or effect they will have similar periodic events.  I tried to prematurely trigger the event and that is proved ineffectual.  The likely next time this Dimension threshold will open is tomorrow at 11:39 AM ... we can return to base until then and make further preparations."

Justicar will inform the CCPD of the situation and will coordinate with them to maintain the cordon until to morrow when they will return to again monitor the potential threat to Center City safety.

"This alters my usual questions, but not by much. Highest priority is always to figure out where the target is located, and given their nature, they likely have several bases along what is likely a preferred circuit. Their weapon loadout is likely to be limited to whatever they can carry on their vehicles, but the potential for superpowers or hired muscle changes the math of our odds. They're mobile, but the need to receive and transport unwilling human cargo changes their means of transportation. They cannot transport that on a motorcycle. They'd need at least a passenger car, and they would need access to routes that can accommodate their living cargo and themselves."

Winter Herald considered further. "Then there are the matters of both their suppliers and their buyers. Ultimately, these Dogs of War are the middlemen in a horrible system. They are neither the top nor the bottom. Their use is telling us how it is structured. We will want them alive, if possible, and I can record information. Evidence will not be a concern, and combined with our generous legal permissions, we can even enhance the reputation of the Crusaders while doing so, if events go well."

"In short, how do we wish to start to dismantle them? Supply side or consumer side? You possess more information about them than I do, and for now, I am trusting your judgement for how to best take them apart."

Little is known of the disappearance of Holly Cook, save the exact time and location of the event. The location was ground level at the intersection of Center and Lake street. The time was almost twenty-four hours ago. There are several pebbles with a slightly flattened side that lay, unobserved, along the street. These match some odd blemishes on some of the signage, that appears to have been overly polished.

Bellissima got dropped off by a patrol car after having filled out a report of her activities in New York for the LESP offices.  She really wished she could figure out how to fly, that would be very cool and make it much easier to get around the city quickly.  She saw Maharaja was the first one to arrive.

With a wave of her head, she walked up to the big man, "Hello Maharaja, looks like we are the first ones here.  I wonder what will come out of the portal this time and whether we are going to be able to save Holly."  She greeted the big man as she went for a fist bump with him.  "Although I am still not fully recovered from yesterday, so you are going to have to do the heavy lifting today," she rolled her eyes playfully as she looked around the area to get familiar with the area and what is where.

Center City - The Harmon Building

Hikari woke the next day some 6 hours later refreshed of most of his fatigue.  He got a shower and morning grooming done with efficiency, followed by breakfast prepared by Karl and made his way down to the lab.

He spent several minutes looking over the various projects he has under progress.
Hikari was disappointed with the miniaturization of the Quantum-Pulse Particle Sensor clearly it would need more dedicated effort to make it smaller, perhaps even rethink its construction materials entirely.

08:26, Today: JUSTICAR rolled 58 using 1d100.  Hikari - Mechanical Engineer [52%]. – [roll=1659270384.46436.355584]

08:25, Today: JUSTICAR rolled 67 using 1d100.  Hikari - Electrical Engineer [57%]. – [roll=1659270312.42336.355584]

He sighed and turned his focus on the data analysis of the reading recorded the day before... nothing stood out from the sensor returns.  The particle collider smashed accelerated protons and electron in rapid regular pulses and all the installed sensors minutely monitored the release of sub-atomic particles but he could see any alteration in the readings indicating any change with proximity with the close dimensional threshold.  The closed Dimension threshold might be affecting a particle emission his device was not scanning for just as easily as not working AT ALL and Hikri would be hard pressed to know the difference... but it was all he had to go on.

At the very least he had a clean sensor-reading of what the normal closed Dimensional threshold was like...so when it opened today near noon there 'should' be some difference to compare too.  THAT could be tracked and scanned for!  Assuming some extra-dimension mutant "Godzilla" did not exit the portal and make a nuisance of itself!

The sensors scans of the bio-samples was still being collated... so still nothing conclusive there either...yet.

This was frustrating.

Hikari decided he'd done all he could to find some means of tracking of finding the dimensional effects that had been used to abduct Holly Cook.. he needed to change his approach and work on something else.  Best way to clear his mind.

So he got to work tinkering on the Justicar.  He decided to install a pair os his recently manufactured Stun Blaster tech.  Unfortunately the stun blasters were still experimental and the tracking and weapon testing of their beam focus for targeting purposes had not be fully analyzed and integrated into his targeting software.  He shrugs and just decided to rely on simple 'iron-sights'.

Hikari shrugged he could blame the targeting software all he wanted but the truth was 'He' was not very proficient with handheld energy weapons.  The opportunity to focus on non-slug-thrower firearms was a rarity he just had not had time to master personally.

But it was only an low-energy electron beam to incapacitate beings with a nervous system so there was no risk even with a missed shot that any real collateral damage would be a risk .. like his fully integrated wrist blasters, so Hikari was not concerned as much.  But the dual-wrist mounted stun blasters were an option that could be very useful in battle to again provide him with more non-lethal means of dealing with criminals.  He added 'iron sighted' stun blasters to the Justicar and all his drones it was a simple add with no time requirements for targeting calibration... they would not be 'accurate' but not inaccurate either!

Speaking of non-lethal, Hikari was disturbed that the mutant dinosaur in New York was only stopped with lethal force.  All life was precious and every attempt should be made to preserve such.  So he pulled out of ammo storage “Spartan” ‘frangible’ 5.56mm ammo.  As a ammo choice it was REALLY sub-optimum, it had Very poor armor penetration and abysmal range... but it tended to mushroom nicely for a heavy broad-area impact on target very little if any penetration... but also non-lethal Exactly because of those properties.  Not usually a rifle round but a pistol ammo type hence its terrible range comparatively... but that was still around 150ft or so.  So it was perfect for a non-lethal or at least 'mostly' non-lethal ammo type for slug-thrower weapons.  Hikari loaded a single 80 round magazine of 5.56mm for his shoulder rifle, hopefully the ammo would not jam the barrel if he used it.

He remembered the fight in on Sebastian Isle and he'd always been annoyed with the memory of using his chemical sprayer to no effect on Snow-Blind and had been pondering a way to not waste his effort in a similar situation again.  He studied the chemical sprayer schematic and sipped his morning coffee grousing over a way to make the chem-sprayer more efficient.  Then it occurred to him from the engineering design the way the chemical-cartridges were switched mechanically he could easily modify it to spray from two chemicals at once with a minor modification.  Then Genius struck!  Paint.  If he had sprayed Snow Blind with a combined chemical of tear gas and spray paint he might not have been affected by the tear gas due to his powers but actual spray paint would still have blinded him... temporarily at least.

He got to work modifying his chemical cartridge options with paint and added a second nozzle to the ejection chamber to allow the option to unleash two chemical loads at once.  He added paint loads of Blue, Yellow, Red and Green.

Time was getting short so he suited up and went into the manufacturing autofac to look in on the progress of the Justicar-Paladin.  To his delight it was now at 87% completion!  Close enough for emergency field deployment if needed.  Hikari couldn't help grinning broadly at the 24'ft tall powered armor mecha vehicle.  This was not a subtle thing it was meant for taking on BIG threats!  Currently it was laying prone on its back in its launch cradle... but it was mostly ready for use save for some final avionic and targeting calibration.
Hikari instructed Karl to have the Justicar-Paladin ready for rapid deployment should the need arise.

Calling in Justicar inform LESP HQ he was back on duty as he rocketed across the skyline of Center City to land at the Harmon Building Street intersection with his Quantum-Pulse Particle Sensor in hand {now the size of a thick paperback novel}.

"Morning Belle, Maharajah... I see the police have already set up the security cordon.  Excellent.  Hopefully we will get some idea of the nature of the portal and its connection to Holly Cook."

Gesturing with a strange handheld device, "I have designed and built what I hope will be a sufficient sensor device to detect the opening or closing dimensional threshold of the portal...  and potentially track the location of it opening and exit."

Center City - The Harmon Building

Winter Herald had spent much of his spare time prior to this practicing, and when he could not follow up on the notes that Crusader had provided on these Dogs of War, he expanded the issue he was actually tackling. The portal was not a concern. He was as prepared for that as he was going to get with the time and information they possessed.

Hour 24-48 for Holly Cook: Status unknown but endangered

This was a side note, a project connected to tracking Major FORCE themselves down, although that in itself was beginning to become a side project in the "End-Exploitation" consensus debate. The Dogs of War had a separate debate dedicated to them that was part of the "End-Exploitation" debate: the "End-Slavery" consensus sub-debate. Crusader, to him, seemed focused only on the most extreme branch of this, of those who had been abducted and forced into slavery for vice purposes.

Winter Herald had no intention of limiting himself in such a fashion. The entire enterprise it was a part of needed to be eliminated as part of the higher objective of eliminating the ability for one entity to unduly exploit another. The elimination of free will had been briefly debated and dismissed - a world of machines without will would not be capable of adapting to a change in the world, and would steadily break down if no one had the ability to change their role as needed.

Besides, his inclination was action oriented anyhow. Acquire as much information as time allowed to make the best decision possible, then execute said action with the precision that being informed permitted. And right now, he had been training with the drone, learning its limits, what it could do, how smart it was, and how much supervision it required.

After all, this was potentially his communications, if circumstances allowed for it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
The reality was that he had been waiting near here for some time, in the event something went wrong. There were a few people about - those with the instinct to understand that some superpowered beings were about to do superpowered things here, and were getting ready in their own way. Clearly fleeing was not one of their plans, and he wasn't sure how he was going to account for them.

He waved to Hikari as he considered his actions to come. He would have to enter at the exact moment something would likely be coming out. This alone was going to be quite dangerous and time sensitive.

If things went well here, though, it would improve the team's soft power tremendously, which could be leveraged into smoothing over international incidents. This would be required - the course of their duties and their very impressive power at assault and lack of power at holding lines meant that feathers were going to be ruffled and they could not afford to stand against an angry populace or government. And angering governments in particular, for the greater good of the world, was going to be an essential part of their job - the Zeroth Law was clearly their guide.

Then something occurs to him, something he had not considered before, until he realized what Veteran Elite super-soldier was doing.

Justicar walked over to Senor Garcia, "Good morning Sir, your looking for a sniper position correct? Something, just occured to me. I've come to beleive miss Holly Cook was abducted by Vitaly / 'Provider', using some device... not a superpower because there was no obvious meta-human activity recorded in the footage. But annoyingly there was also no obvious use of tech either. I ... stupidly let the matter drop there rather than continue with the logical progression of that theory. The device was used from concealment... a sniper position. How foolish of me NOT to follow that line of logic. So I ask you Sir, if you wanted to snipe with some device or weapon at falling woman at this intersection and be completely unseen... where would you position?"

Justicar:
"Morning Belle, Maharajah... I see the police have already set up the security cordon.  Excellent.  Hopefully we will get some idea of the nature of the portal and its connection to Holly Cook."

Gesturing with a strange handheld device, "I have designed and built what I hope will be a sufficient sensor device to detect the opening or closing dimensional threshold of the portal...  and potentially track the location of it opening and exit."

Bellissima turned toward Justicar as he arrived in his suite, her face was covered by her collar pulled up over her nose and her wrap around sunglasses covering her face with her hair pulled back into a tight ponytail.  She was wearing the armored outfit that Justicar had provided her with, although he did a very good job of making it look like normal clothing.

"Excellent, we didn't get any warning at the bank and it had closed before anyone could get a look to see if you could see across.  Hopefully we will get enough of a warning that we can look at the portal and hopefully see to the other side.  I am going to be ready to try to reach through with my TK if I see Holly on the other side."  She informed Justicar and the others of her basic plan.  She was hoping to avoid dealing with anything coming out of the portal, this time and focus on trying to rescue Holly.  "I have no idea if I will be able to reach through the portal," she shrugged as she acknowledged the obvious first flaw of her plan, "we will find out together," her smirk covered up by her face mask, "Hopefully there is no explosion that goes with it."

She nodded to Winter Herald, Garcia and Crusader as they showed up or revealed themselves.  of course beyond the police barriers, there were a lot of people gathering to see what was going on.  If something really dangerous came out of the portal, all those spectators was going to make life much harder.  Hopefully the police had set the barriers far enough back.  She really didn't like operating under the watch eyes of all the spectators, let alone all the media cameras filming what was going on.   The police were doing their best to keep everyone away, but with the barriers going up, rerouting of traffic from the area, the media had caught wind that something spectator might be happening today and the Sentinels appearance only confirmed that.  Maybe she figure out how to make herself invisible in the future to avoid the media.

A thought she had was that maybe Holly was the one making the portals.  Although there was no evidence of her having that power, she hadn't sensed Holly being part of the bank heist, but as Justicar had mentioned while talking with Garcia, was that there was no sign of external activities during Holly's disappearance.

Winter Herald chose this as his point to cross the police barrier, offering his membership in the Sentinels if he had to in order to cross, in as robotic of a voice as he had to.

He crossed to Bellissima, catching some of her plan. It was hard to hear Bellissima through the crowd, so he missed much of her plan. "I will be going through the portal. Hopefully, I will return with her before it closes. If not, I will be on the other side for twenty four hours, and you can expect us then. As far as you know, is she still alive?"

OOC: 17:43, Today: Winter Herald rolled 75 using 1d100.  Recognize Voice Distance to make out Bellissima. TN 72.
Just barely failed to hear the correct location.

Justicar 'seemed' to regard Bellissima and Winter Herald's declarations... but his visor hid his expressions.

He purposely opened his visor to meet them both eye to eye... to punctuate his seriousness to them.

"I cannot say more strongly how much I advise Against ANY of us trying to cross the Dimensional Threshold.  We have no idea of the physics inherent of that alternate dimension ~ how that will affect our biology from the laws of physics of Our dimension.  Winter Herald has insisted upon trying to cross the threshold, against my warnings, but as I have no actual authority to refrain him from doing so, I have decided to equip and arm him for the best surviveability and sensory telemetry recording."

"For one I strongly do Not believe Holly Cook is still in the alternate dimension.  My reasons ~ Provider's tattooed artwork is very similar to the Frazetta's stolen from the State Bank Heist so a connection to Holly Cook.  Also Holly was an ex-girlfriend of his that he wanted a more permanent relationship before she broke off seeing him.  Provider not using his mind control powers upon Holly Cook to force her to accept him denotes a deeper concern for her than just controlling desire."

"Second the effects uses int he State Bank Heist and the ...as I believe, abduction of Holly Cook, lead me to believe Provider is involved for personal reasons."

"My conclusion Provider would NEVER strand Holly Cook in a hostile primordial dimension... he loves her... and wants her with him.  She is likely here in our dimension in some secret lair for Provider and his Refusenik 'Villain Super-Team'."

"Now granted, Provider could have a secret lair in this alternate dimension... but we have nothing but pure conjecture on that.  Provider's 'known' powers do not coincide with super genius or dimensional traveler..so how he has gained access to dimensional abduction capabilities is STILL a VERY annoying puzzle piece that Does Not Fit!"

"BUT Third and most importantly.. we have no means of dimensional travel if one of us goes to the alternate dimension we have NO means of returning or retrieving them from said dimension!  That is Unacceptable!"

"As not only would Holly Cook remain lost we would also loose a vital teammate!"

His seriousness in his tone is insistent on these points and his eyes burn with certainty!

He takes a deep breath...

"My intent here is to with my sensors when the portal opens determine if I can detect its anomalous sensor returns... if I can.. THAT I can search for, THAT I can track.. potentially to where Holly Cook was sent or taken!"

"And as for violent, mutant-dinosaur, mega-fauna... I have... made preparations to combat such a threat and it is on standby ready to deploy if needed."

Bellissima arched an elegant eyebrow up over her sunglasses, "Have no worries, Justicar.  I have no intention of physically passing through the portal.  I will just try to reach through with my telekinesis." She stated concisely, "I am not crazy enough to going through a portal when there is no guarantee that I can return."

"And frankly we have no proof that Vitali has anything to do with the bank robbery or Holly's disappearance.  The tattoos looking like Frazetta's artwork is very circumstantial," Bellissima shook her head in frustration. "We only have my vision of him to make that connection and that he might have powers." She forestalled any rehash of the circumstantial evidence that surrounding Vitali, "Oh, I agree that he is likely involved, but I am keeping my mind open to other possibilities until we can gain more evidence.  So I am not assuming that Holly is safe at the moment.  And being in the hands of a criminal with possible mind control powers is definitely not safe, he might be able to rewrite Holly's brain and make her think she loves him.  Of course he had plenty of time to do that in the apartment when he caused her to go blank for a time.  Completely bypassing the need to stage an elaborate public kidnapping."

Bellissima knew the theory of how she could insert memories into a person's brain, although she has never attempted to do so.  She knew it could be very useful, but she found it highly unethical, doing so even for the best of reasons would make her no better than a criminal.  For the greater good had a line it should not cross.

Justicar, grimaces ~ closing his visor and slowly nods, "...regretably, Bellissima, I must agree ~ we have a lot of circumstantial clues and no 'real' solid evidence at all.  I do not think it would matter even IF we had a veteran forensics detective team  leading this investigation we would have any bettter intel to persue! No clues is STILL, NO Clues!"

He sighs, a strange sound with his suit's voice demodulator as he goes back to monitoring his hand-held q-pp sensor...

"All we can do is our best and hope we can help eventually.  But I fear the longer Holly Cook remains missing the less chance we have of finding her unharmed or even alive!"

Winter Herald paused to allow everyone to finish. "I am going to ask a series of questions, and unlike the usual routine when such questions are asked, I will present my own conclusions with each question, followed by a consensus. If you have a better answer, I would like to hear them."

"Do we have a lead for Holly Cook's location beyond 'through the dimensional portal?' The answer is 'no.' Do we have a time limit? The answer is likely 'yes.' Do we benefit from further analysis of the situation? The answer is likely 'no.' Do we need to act? The answer is likely 'yes.' We have an absence of information, a tenuous lead, and a time limit. Information must be translated into action. Probability dictates that refusal is a forfeiture of Holly's life."

Winter Herald moved into position, and insured the drone was secured and ready to go. "Since the entire team has deployed itself to locate this missing celebrity, I have drawn the consensus that to get them to reinvest their resources back into locating Major FORCE, I must get this distraction out of the way as quickly and efficiently as morals, ethics, resources and information permit. That means I go through the portal to the unknown. Other options have been eliminated by logic."

"Chimp Man Z is known well and liked by the public, and will need to remain for damage control. You, Justicar, are too valuable to endanger and if the technology you possess fails, you are only human beyond your impressive mind."

He looked from Justicar to Bellissima. "Crusader, Goliat and you are not as resilient as myself. Garcia and Runa are new, and their willingness and ability to enter to an unknown dimension for a blind rescue operation is in question. Patriot is not available, and they have organic internals besides. I am the best qualified to step through and rescue Holly while the rest of you dispatch whatever is coming out."

His attention focused back on Justicar. "So again, if you have a additional data that makes a better answer that does not endanger my brief existence, I would like to hear it before I endanger my brief existence. Myself not going through the portal, in the absence of additional data, is not a better answer. That is the end of my report."

He glanced to the place the portal was due to appear. He could be there and jump through quickly enough. He just had to have faith the existing systems behind him would be able to deal with whatever was coming out.

Justicar chuckles, "Yes, A Very clinical, logical and precise assessment of the situation Winter 'As usual'.  And you are correct you are the, most likely, best choice to cross into an unknown dimension due to certain structural advantages such as not having fragile biological processes that sustain your life functioning. None of your questions and focus upon the situation is in error, but with one point ~ You are Also Too Valuable to risk your existence.  You, at least to me, are no less important or valuable than I."

"So my one suggestion would be ~ Send that drone I loaned you through the portal first! It IS expendable... I an make another. If telemetry and functioning of it can be verified through your Telemetry Head Visor linked to it ~ you will likely also be fully operational there."

Justicar notes Senor Garcia wearing his combat rig as he searches for a sniper position and over to him with'Karl' maintaining monitoring of the sensor returns as the time ticks down.

"Senor Garcia, I noted your wearing your combat rig.  Impressive.  I had designed a suit of armor for you but had not expected you would find full class 4 hard armor flexible enough?  It seems I was in error from your current armor... including some stealth properties as well!  That is a armor surfacing project still in my que of research."

"Regardless I have a suit design for you, it will need to be modified now that I've seen your current rig.. I see no need to reinvent the wheel...so I can reduce my plans to just additional components to add to your current rig if you so choose to accept such. I'm particularly impressed with that Kel Tec KSG-12 shotgun!  I might have to do some research for adapting such a fine flexible weapon to the Justicar's possible loadouts!"

"I see your 'Forearm Datapad' has what amounts to a field battle computer.  Very impressive... I refrained from adding such to the team's outfits to not overwhelm to less 'technically' inclined' with tech they would not feel comfortable of fluent in use."

"Here is the proposed suit specifications I have under construction in my workshop.. Again.. I'll adjust it to just added components as I can clearly see your suit is far superior in certain aspects already!"

Lilibeth hadn't been around to hear from Hikari about his theory that another portal when and where another portal would open. If she had been, any explanation he gave would likely have gone over her head. Fortunately she didn't have to understand the scientific rationale that he based his theory on. All she needed to know was when and where to be in case he was right.

So arrived at the Harmon building with he rest of the team. As seemed to be her habit, she wore fashionable though modest civilian clothing, rather than the armored clothes that Hikari had provided for her. If anything violent happened, it would take less than the blink of an eye for her to summon Runa, who would be wearing the armor he designed.

"Did you have a plan for me or Runa?" she asks the teenage super genius.

Justicar was talking with Senor Garcia when Lilibeth approached and asked where best she could be deployed... and he turned to answer...when his heightened Auditory sensors picked up a voice that decidedly Should NOT be here... one belonging to Professor Franz Undorf - Phantasma, the only recently apprehended and supposed to be in extradition processing for return to Germany!

Justicar spoke soft and briefly to Lilibeth, "...we have a problem, I must address... call Runa to help with crowd control and assisting the police to keep people away... this could turn violent."

Turning he walked over to Phantasma, and calmly addressed the Professor, raising his visor to meet his gaze eye to eye, "...greetings Professor Undorf.  What are you doing here?  I had surmised that you were inferring the periodic opening of the dimensional threshold would be one way... but I did not wish to claim words you did not explicitly say.  Which is another reason I felt trying to cross the dimensional threshold was more folly than bravery."

He cocked his head and asked, "..I am conjecturing that the higher mathematics of dimensional mechanics is a specialty of yours, so is your super-genius able to perform the mathematical equations with sufficient accuracy that in conjunction with your force creation powers you can 'mathmatize' dimensional castling and quantum entangle yourself to a location of your choosing on your own?  To coin a phrase... can you 'Tesser' your person?"

Justicar was calmly walking toward the Professor only trying to get within 50'ft of him and stop... optimum range for his non-lethal incapacitating weaponry, though he pointed no obvious weapons at the Super-Genius, Super-Villain, Scientist.  He wanted to try to 'talk' him down and find out how he escaped the police custody AND got past the police cordon...without any warning being radioed to the LESP Sentinels!!!

A look of puzzlement appeared on the normally cheerful face of Lilibeth. She opened her mouth to ask Hikari what was going on, where was the danger but her questioning words died unspoken. "He said he needs Runa, not questions," she thought, and then spoke to words that would bring out Runa. Half a heartbeat later, the warrior priestess of Ishtar stood where Lilibeth had been. The tall woman looked at Justicar as he strode away from her and towards the man that had spoken so strangely. "Is he the threat?" she wondered. "Or is that the mentor of Justicar, come to deliver a warning of danger?"

"Your guess is as good as mine," Lilibeth said to Runa in their shared mind. "Come on, let's go help the police...the city protectors. Maybe they know who that is Hikari is talking to."

Runa signaled her agreement by turning on her heels and walking towards the nearest police officers.

As he opens his visor and addresses the gentleman, the gentleman nods. Just as he had in the interview, Franz Undorf begins to address JUSTICAR as a professor would address a student. "of course you would be concerned. Young man, I've studied the theoretical implications of trans-dimensional physics longer than you've lived. We're about to experience a once in a lifetime phenomenon in these threshold events. I intend to observe them."
He leans in closer to JUSTICAR and speaks quietly, saying, "I've left a decoy with your people, and I have every intention of cooperating with your authorities. So, I must tell you that I can be of no help if something hostile comes from the other dimension. Besides, anything crossing the threshold will most surely cause it to collapse and that's all I intend to observe. Would you allow me to approach the event horizon to make observation easier?"
As Franz Undorf stands calmly in front of JUSTICAR, a lit pipe appears in his hand and the distinguished professor puffs on it.

He was looking for how to phrase this while maintaining the cover he was supposed to have. All data feeds suggest Holly Cook is still alive, in direct opposition to my theories, and she clearly crossed one of these thresholds. This means they can be crossed by the living, and the living will survive. This certainly means I can cross it, and perhaps follow her."

"No better lead has been presented other than to go through the door she's gone through. If this cannot be done, we cannot find her, and we need to admit defeat. I am waiting for either the portal to open up, or to be straight out told this cannot be done. I do not know your capabilities on this subject. If you can change the consensus, please do." He looked back to Franz, his glare concealed by the helmet. "If you are going to help find her, thank you. If you are going to open a portal to her, by whatever means you have to do so, please do so."

Justicar/Hikari's expression is one of consternation... not comfortable with the situation.

It was NOT lost on Justicar/Hikari... that Professor Undorf had pointedly NOT answered his question about any ability to mentally 'mathemitizing' a quantum entanglement of his own choosing to 'Tesser', but he dropped this issue filing it away mentally for later assessment... labeled under ~ 'Oh shit! If Phantasma CAN do that he is the Most Dangerous Metahuman in the world!'

He looks around for Chimpman Z noting his absence as uncharacteristic but replies, "...As long as no other Sentinel's have issue with your presence and you agree to comply to follow directions should hostile dimensional beings make an appearance through the portal, I can allow this Professor ~ I understand the desire for expanding one's knowledge of the workings of the Universe..though my focus is more on the practical application and harnessing of such forces than pure research; BUT.. your life should NOT be put at risk Professor!"

Then it occurs to Hikari... Professor Undorf is a German National.. just like his father Karl, it is possible they were contemporaries..perhaps even attending the same School for higher learning... the Professor's interest in him... might stream from some familiarity not only with his mother but also his father!

Stepping close Justicar shows his hand-held sensor device to the Professor explaining, "I call this a Quantum-Particle Pulse Sensor.  It is a micronized particle collider meant to collide particles for the burst of qwarks released at an adjustible frequency and energy to record and detect the resulting sub-atomic particles released.  It is my working theorum that close proximity to a opening and closing higher dimensional threshold will attenuate the regular pulses of released particles from this collider like a radar pulse being released ~ hopefully in a fashion that can be recorded and later again searched for with longer ranged more powerful/sensitive sensors to detect similar phenomenon.  In this case to facilitate detection of dimensional thresholds perhaps even quiescent dimensional nexus.  This might be the only means to detect and potentially track the second dimensional threshold that Holly Cook exited."

Hikari completely skips over the completely Amazing fact that such a device, as he explained it, is usually the Size of the Hadron Collider in Switzerland!

"Sadly I was unable in the time available to make its sensitive particle detector components smaller than this bulky device or properly calibrate and test its sensitivity first..."

"Runa, is it?" Winter Herald spoke to her as the turned to leave. "I am Winter Herald. Hikari has introduced Franz Undorf, a specialist in extradimensional matters. We met on the job. I persuaded him from what I believed to be a foolish course of action successfully, and he is attempting to do the same to me. What he has instead informed me of is that because I have a..."

Runa turned to look at the other LESP member. She waited until he paused, rather than try to speak over him. "I greet you Winter Herald. Yes I am Runa. Justicar did not introduce me to that man," she points at Franz Undorf. She is about to say more but Winter Herald continues, "...let's say dubious connection to the idea that I am biologically alive as others comprehend it, and because of this I am actually uniquely qualified to cross the threshold. This is not expected.

Runa looks at Winter Herald and, not for the first time since being sent to this place and time, is baffled by someone's words. She felt the familiar sense of frustration that happened in these instances but Lilibeth was there, as always, to help her understand what was trying to be communicated. "I think he aid he isn't alive? Like not undead or anything!" Lilibeth quickly added, sensing Runa's alarm and responding to it before she could try and smite what she thought was a zombie or something. "More like a machine." "Ah, the row bots you described." "Yah, kinda like that. Anyways, it sounds like Winter here says he is a robot but Hikari doesn't think so and the are having a spat about it. It also sounds like Franz is some super smart expert about these portals and that's why he showed up. Winter wants to go through it but Hikari doesn't want him to." Runa could sense Lilibeth shrug. "From the sounds of it, he is asking us if we can do anything with those portals or help someone survive going through one."

The conversation between Runa and Lilibeth had happened at the speed of thought, which allowed Runa to respond to Winter Herald without any noticeable pause, once he had stopped speaking. "I have no power to open doors to other realms," Runa says to Winter Herald. "I know very little about such things. The goddess's blessing upon me are so that I can serve as a healer and protector. What you are describing sounds like wizardry to me."

In reply to JUSTICAR (msg # 37):

After finding a suitable firing position that overlooks where the portal that took Holy Cook away, Senor Garcia returns to his SUV suits back up again, and makes his way to the aforementioned position. This time the older man has a bullpup style rifle/PDW strapped across his back and is carrying what is clearly a sniper rifle with a bipod. The shotgun pouches are gone and replaced with two different type of ammo pouches. One set big one set smaller, both carrying two magazines each.

For those who know their guns they will be able to identify the rifle strapped across his back as a Magpul PDR-D with a EOTECH XPS-2 holographic sight, and a laser aiming module on the right side. In his hands is a Mk 20 SSR, with a NightForce NXS 5.5-22x56mm Scope, a laser range finder, a laser aiming module, and a combination bipod & foregrip. In a holster on his right thigh is a FN Five-seveN with an odd-looking laser module. None of the weapons have suppressors, but the three guns all have protective screw on caps on the end of their respective barrels.

Once back at the previous identified firing position Senor Garcia begins to set up and is greet by JUSTICAR. He takes a few minutes to go over the armor specifications being presented to him.

“Impressive, not as armored as the old Mark three suit I’m wearing. But has a lot of the bells and whistles I am used to having. My former employer had me using a Mark Nine suit with an active camouflage module before I retired. Don’t ask about me acquiring a Mark Nine suit. They allowed me to keep this old Mark Three suit because it’s pretty obsolete, and some foreign powers like Iran and North Korea have reverse engineered the Mark Six and Seven’s.”

“One thing I’d like to integrate from my current googles is the ability to see in the Electromagnetic spectrum, and see the ability to see the same specific ultra violet light frequency the lasers on my weapons are set to.”

"It might as well be wizardry to me as well. I am not programmed with comprehensive knowledge of extradimensional physics. I am simply drawing the best conclusion I can with the finite data we possess." Winter Herald was as ready as he was going to get, but did one more check on the drone. He didn't care for Phantasma's nonsense, as he thought of him, and suspected Phantasma was here with the intention of following Herald through one of the portals, knowing full and well that he would survive and likely having some kind of understanding that would allow them to return elsewhere as a man without a leash.

Oddly, as far as Winter Herald was concerned, if he actually did this, it could be beneficial. Or it could throw the whole plan for a loop. Hard to say - there were a lot of variables. He did believe Phantasma was trying to encourage everyone to leave as at least a backhanded effort to help out while helping themselves.

In reply to Phantasma (msg # 51):

Hikari's expression is ... conflicted.  On the surface being able to consult with the brilliant Professor ...someone who can actually understand the physics and concepts behind his practical application of science to useful technical innovation is a confirming relief and joy to be sure... but ever in the back of his mind is the fact also that the Professor is a dangerous Super-Villain Genius Meta-human.  But Hikari perhaps naively 'wants' to believe that there is some part of the professors criminal Genius that is admirable and ...perhaps redeemable... he HAS to believe for the sake of his own Genius Criminal Meta-human Mother.

He replies in-kind...

Justicar nods in regard to the Professor, and continues to scan.  Closing his helmet visor he launched Drone-Alpha to maximum Altitude {500'ft} over the city street intersection to video record the entire event for analysis and review later.

In reply to Senor Garcia (msg # 47):

In reply to Senor Garcia, "Indeed I have been planning some experiments with Ruthenium Polymer Chameleon Surface research.  Basically it enables the robot/vehicle/exosuit to change color and texture to blend into his environment. A sort of HD-video screen form-fitted to the surface of the robot/vehicle/exosuit so that it seems to change and adapt to the surrounding area. Movement drastically reduces the effectiveness of the chameleon surface but it can make a stationary target practically invisible.  But it is still in the research phase currently.  Force Field Projectors are my current research project with some success but also experimental for now."

"As for the EM Spectral optics.. I can easily engineer that into my helmet designs.  As for the armament, I correctly assumed as an ex-special forces solider you had access to a dazzling array of weaponry and had no need of more firepower.  But you will note the suit I designed for you does indeed have a selection of weaponry builtin-- the Only suit I designed for a Sentinel member that does!  There is a reason for this."

"You have access to all sorts of firearms, Senor Garcia, but energy weaponry not so much so.  Also firearms are generally not very good for capture subdue.. I wanted to give you options for quiet, incapacitating weapons that are unexpected by a foe that might see someone carrying guns.  The Electric discharges can give you an energy-based 'punch' that is not obvious and is relatively quiet.  Stealth being why I was going for.  Same goes for the Wrist Spike launchers.. they are pneumatically fired so only as loud as a burp perhaps.  But 'can' be loaded with a varying assortment of ammo types for flexibility and stealth.  The Stun Blaster is also an option for rendering a foe weakened or even totally subdued that has nothing to do with the report of a firearm and is completely non-lethal.  I figured with your... change of roles from Solider to Public Hero having more 'measured' weaponry choices would be appreciated?"

In reply to Chimp Man Z (msg # 50):

At Chimpman Z's arrival and his request for the Sitrep Justicar reports, "We have had the police set up a three block cordon of the area.  We are waiting for the Dimensional Threshold to manifest.  My plan is to analyze the appearance of the portal hole with this device and make a detailed collation of the data recorded.. my hope being with that data I can then scan for similar dimensional phenomenon and track the Exit portal that Holly Cook went through when she returned to our universe.  That should bring us close if not directly to her location.  The LESP Sentinel Team is deployed here should some hostile dimensional mega-fuana as in New York blunder through the portal when it opens briefly."

He pauses for a moment and explains, "Winter Herald, alternatively-additionally, wishes to attempt to cross the open portal entering the dimension and search for Holly Cook in the alternate dimension.  A plan I have advised against, also Professor Franz Undorf / Phantasma here believes that the portal is one-way and as soon as something comes through.. if something comes through, the portal will collapse never to reopen again.  Which is partially why I am advising against such an attempt but mainly because I do not believe Holly Cook is in the alternate dimension.  She was most likely transported/abducted though the use of the dimensional threshold and is more than likely back in our universe at some secret villain lair of Vitaly / Provider.  So searching for her in the alternate dimension is pointless and counter-productive as we have no way of traveling to or more importantly from the alternate dimension!"

"BUT, admittedly.. this is some amount of conjecture on my part... we do not have any solid evidence to support any 'theory' of Holly Cook's actual whereabouts."

Bellissima was listening to the conversations going on around her, but she didn't have anything to add at the moment.  She really hoped that Winter Herald didn't sacrifice himself by trying to jump through the portal, she might be able to stop him, but that would be taking away his will and she wasn't going to do that to anyone.   She could feel his thought patterns, although she was making sure she didn't focus on them, Winter Herald's patterns were different than the non-sentient machines around her.  Although she wasn't reaching out to anything around her.  The world was now even noisier than it had been when she was just a telepath.

An interesting note she made to herself, this was the first time she was in Justicar's presence since she had broken the organic/inorganic barrier and able to sense machines of all kinds and she could sense Justicar's armor, Justicar's thoughts and a second intelligence sharing the space around Hikari.  She could reach out to figure out what was going on, but that would be invading Hikari's privacy, she was going to have to ask him about it later.

Right now, she was focusing on where the portal should be opening, ready to reach out and grab Holly with her telekinesis if she saw the woman on the ground beyond the portal.  Right now that was her only hope, they had zero other clues to follow up on at the moment.

The assembled heroes, and the officers at the barricades, were all made aware of the potential time a portal would open. As that time arrives, nothing seems to happen at first. Then there is a crack, as if something displaced a large amount of air in an instant. As the, becoming familiar, blue glow fades around it, the forty foot tall bear in the street before the Harmon Building roars. Panic ensues.

Oh, robots and androids with anything more than computer brains (AI's or transferred intelligence) are also subject to horror factor, even though

An extradimensional portal, Jacob muses.  You have no idea what's on the other side.  And no idea if there is an immediate way home.  But, you must think there is a way....
The Brady Bunch has followed him and is sitting nearby, seeming to follow the conversation.
That's when all Hell breaks loose.  At the sound of the roar, Jacob moves to the front of the building to see the forty foot bear, his eyes travelling from feet all the way up to the head and face.  Heylike drek! What he says in Yiddish is immediately followed by Russian.  Ебена мать (Yebena matʹ)!  After a moment, he finally says it in English, Holy shit!

Upon seeing the forty foot tall bear, the retired super soldier doesn't hesitate. He takes aim and fires the Mk20 SSR five times in succession at the forty foot tall bear. Hopefully the armor piercing ammo wouldn't go through the bear and into a person.

Justicar was monitoring his sensor readouts when the crack and blue flash occurred... and suddenly he found himself standing shadow... a tall long shadow created by the new interdimensional traveler's arrival.

Hikari's wide-eyed expression cannot be seen under his visor as he gazes up, Up, UP... at the huge dimensional interloaper. His mind screams panicked warnings at him, but his logical scientific mind recognizes the beast as some CERTAINLY ~ Megafauna and plagues him with questions;'...how much must something THAT tall weigh made of terestrial flesh and blood? Is it actually terestrial flesh and blood anymore ...? Perhaps the gravity in its' home dimension is significantly less than our earth standard?  A significant difference in gravity in the alternate dimension would certainly effect how the dimensional threshold reacted and interacted with our dimension...!'

He froze, utterly fascinated and terrified at the same time.

His only actual words spoken with clear nervous tension, "... w-well t~That's something you d-don't see everyday!"

Bellissime wasn't surprised as the giant Bear popped into existence, she had encountered that with the T-Rex, but the size of the creature caused her to step back.  Then the Bear fear and confusion that turns into anger and she could feel that underlining fear pouring out of the creature. Then the screaming started behind her as she was inundated with the atavistic fear from all the people watching as they started running away. She was trying to deal with her fear of encountering something so much bigger than her as the fears of everyone around her crashed and smashed through the shields she kept raised to protect her from being inundated by the thoughts of people around her.

She locked up as she battled the waves of fear from different sources, the instinct to freeze and hope that the danger wouldn't noticed overwhelmed her training to do something and kept her from doing anything.

Runa heard the thunder like *crack* and turned away from Winter Herald. She saw the azure glowing light of the portal form and then disgorge a stupendously tall and massive beast. She had never seen anything like it, before or after arriving in this time and place. She had instinctively adopted a defensive posture; hands up and fingers curled lightly, feet shoulder width apart, orientated on the threat. She had no sooner taken her stance when the fur covered beast personally announced its presence with a mighty roar that vibrated the very air in her lungs.

She froze. For the first time in a very long time, she completely froze. She could say nothing, do nothing, in the face of such a monster. "Goddess preserve us," was the only thought she was capable of forming and even that was soft, weak, carrying non of her usual confidence in herself and her faith.

Lilibeth, perhaps because from her point of view, she was watching events like someone watches a monitor or TV, was not gripped with terror. Oh, she was scared. Moreover she was worried about Runa, her teammates and the onlooking civilians, both the sworn and non-sworn alike. She was not however so fearful that she couldn't help but panic. Because she retained her ability to think clearly, she knew that while she could take control of her body, returning Runa to Elsewhere, there was little her own body could do in this situation. She had no powers. She wasn't especially strong or skilled in combat either. The best she could hope for would be to help the police get the onlookers back and away before they became so much 'collateral damage'.

"Or I can try to snap Runa out of it," she thought. The priestess had the power to help, she just needed a little help first. So it was that she tried reaching out to Runa to reassure her and spur into action.

"Runa, listen to me OK? Listen to me. You need to save these people. You can do it. Ishtar made you one of her priestesses for a reason. She has faith in you so don't you go losing faith in yourself."

Then 'Karl' speaks up, + Hikari.  This is a hazardous threat, focus. +

And Hikari, pushes aside his apprehension and acts...

"Right. 'Karl' deploy Justicar-PALADIN to this location."

Justicar's rocket thrusters ignite as he takes flight... first addressing Professer Undorf, "..Professor retreat back to the police line."

Rocketing into the sky Justicar flies right at the Kaiju Bear his ballistic metal mesh blue cloak fluttering at his shoulders as he attempts to draw the titan bear's attention circling around behind it to turn its attention away from the... still mentally stunned Sentinel Team... a particularly fearless or perhaps foolhardy action as he moves in to engage the titan bear!

Karl responds, + Acknowlegded Hikari. Justicar-PALADIN Inbound. ETA 30 seconds. +

Aiming both his gauntlets he flies in VERY close {10'ft}, weapons systems targeting lasers track to his target {which is as big as a volkswagon to be honest} to unleash a dual spray of tear gas and bright green aerosol spraypaint from the Chemical Sprayers directly into the large beast's snout, face and eyes seeking to hinder its ability to defend itself by blinding it, at least temporarily, and Certainly drawing it's ire to him and not his teammates!

Justicar has ... an impressive arsenal of lethal weaponry he 'could' deploy.. its clear he is trying NOT to hurt the beast.

The dual spray delivered he draws his Transparent Ballistic Plastic Riot Shield to arm ready to defend against any wild swipes the enraged beast should make though from the evasive piloting he is doing its clear he is trying to avoid any such blow by dodging!  He specifically refrained from drawing either of his swords or popping his wrist-mounted triple blades to parry the mountain sized-beast as likely it would result in snapped blades...

Switching his Amplified External Loudspeaker to full he calls out to try to snap the team out of its surprise...

"SENTINELS ~ UNITE!!!"

Center City - The Harmon Building

"If we are not here to rescue Holly, then this operation is a waste of time and we need -" Winter Herald's words stopped with the arrival of the giant bear. The idea to simply leave went to immediate debate with trying to deal with what was likely to be soon an enraged giant bear. He immediately went into analysis of it, regardless of appropriateness, trying to figure out what world allowed such a creature to exist.

The oxygen present in such a world would be higher than the current one, and suggested an environment much like the dinosaurs. He wondered if it wasn't connected to the one in New York briefly before deciding this data was inconsistent with what he had been informed of.

It was at that moment he realized the window for going through the portal was gone.

His programs immediately began engaging in maintenance consensus, trying to determine how a plan with so few steps and with almost zero points of failure could have gone incorrectly. He knew of no tech that could open a gateway to another world. No research that could do it, as Phantasma's own equations were not working once he pulled them from theory to practice.

They had learned enough about Holly Cook to write a good eulogy about her, and not enough information to even recover a body.

He tore the drone off himself (one attack). It was dead weight to him now as his protocols focused along combative programs he did understand. The ability to lead the bear out was not on the table, and the bear was cornered and wounded - it would demolish the city attempting to flee.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Consensus did not debate long on the idea of using any force up to killing the bear to force its violent movements to cease.

He used the radio to communicate. +"Dispatch the bear, then close the instability. Then I find FORCE. Actions deviating from these have clearly been erroneous." +

Consensus regarding Giant Ursine Analysis was still going on, in spite of his best efforts to focus on the task.

He gave two passing strikes - one as he shot up to its neck and shoulder with his jump jets, aiming to issue a square strike, and another as he descended, with the same intention and the hopeful goal of being out of the bear's striking range both upon ascent and immediately after landing. He had no ability to take this thing apart quickly, but he could engage it in sustained battle.

OOC: 15:08, Yesterday: Winter Herald rolled 17 using 1d20+3.  Apparently I can be frightened.

Justicar chuckles, and over the open radio replies, +"Winter you always so... binary!  You are either on or off, kill or ignore.. you will find life is rarely so cut and dry but has many shades and nuances of grey.  We are definitely here to rescue Holly Cook, by seeking a means to locate her... I've already explained my route to doing that possibly by tracking the dimensional nexus entrance and exits.  I recorded plenty of readings from this gate opening and closing.  The telemetry should allow me to locate similar phenomenon with a little analysis... we WILL find out where Holly Cook exited the dimension."+

+"As for the bear here ... my deep radar scans show its flesh is quite dense... we would need to deploy significantly higher firepower risking much collateral damage to 'dispatch' it... but killing this poor dimensionally-displaced beast is not MY goal. I will subdue it, once the Justicar-PALADIN arrives.  This creature is a significant scientific discovery and could be invaluable to dimensional research... plus its an innocent beast not a monster.  As heroes we should always seek to preserve life in whatever form it takes, with a mind to protecting its life as well as the innocent it might threaten.  I have sufficient firepower I could mortally wound it ~ eventually... but I'd rather find a less destructive and humane way to deal with the beast.  I have a plan, I will NOT let it harm the innocent residents of Center City... trust me."+

The bear, dinosaur sized, stands up. It becomes clear the creature's proportions are not the same as the typical bear as it seems more comfortable in its bipedal stance. Just as it becomes clear the brontobear is less bear than it first appeared to be, JUSTICAR sprays the creature's face. The creature's lack of reaction suggests the forty-foot tall bipedal bear has met with skunks of similar proportions.
Señor Garcia begins firing into the brontobear's head. Watching through his scope as his rounds encounter the dense flesh of the creature. The size of the monster coupled with its extraordinary density gives the impression that the rounds he fired would have been akin to shooting a human with an actual pea shooter. It would likely take around half an hour of sustained fire before the creature would be at all hindered by the impacts.
Then, the creature's first act is to swipe a paw at JUSTICAR, which only results in tearing at the Harmon Building. The creature's claws leave long gouges across the front of the building, shattering several windows on the way.

In reply to SSOGM (msg # 65):

Whoa, sorry didn't post my initiative and action yet.  I rolled another 1 for initiative.
D20 is going to dice jail for a while.

Mae Ha Rga is talking to himself, "Get it together, Yongten.  Do not shame your lama like this.  Show this animal what Xaolin is capable of."

He stands up, turns towards the 'bear-osaurus', takes a deep breath and centers himself, draws his daisho and charges at the creature's rear end while activating Positive Energy.  Mae Ha Rga is aiming for both legs with each sword.  Mainly trying to sever any tendons there so it can't stand up.

Now I get the nat 20.  That's for the katana on the right.  The wakazashi on the left gets a  7 + 7.  Did I just amputate its right leg with that nat 20?  Damage:  right side:  (2, 6)x2+(3, 5)+14=38.  Left side: 1+1+(2,6)+14=24

Runa was grateful for Lilibeth's words of encouragement. She was still filled with fear but the reminder of who what she is, had helped. She watched her comrades attack the building sized beast and realized that there was little more she could do against it that they couldn't. What she could do though, was to help any bystanders safely escape. The city's protectors, the police, were already doing what they could but there was more onlookers than police. She left Winter Herald's side and began guiding and ushering people away from the danger zone. She used her trained voice to cut through the commotion in what she hoped was a commanding and calming tones.

"This way! Follow me to safety!"

Center City - The Harmon Building

Winter Herald had landed, and noted that none of them had seemed to have gotten the bear's attention. He was still attempting to focus through his consensus relentless barraging him with questions on a loop. +"Attacks have been made. Attacks not acknowledged. Attacks not effectual. Advise switching attack techniques. Personally targeting nose and eyes. Protocols against giant targets dictate attacking sensory and mobility systems. We must get it disinterested in the buildings."+

OOC: 16:57, Sun 07 Aug: Winter Herald rolled 6 using 1d20+3.  Horror Factor save.

He popped the bush knife from his right arm into his left hand, held it reverse, and proceeded to make another dash straight up the front of the creature as it plowed into the buildings. Anyone who was intimately familiar with his systems would notice a near twenty percent drop in speed and response time as his systems kept wishing to study the giant bear over and over again, even as he attempted over and over to force an end to the consensus debate because lives were in danger right now.

Upon passing in front of it, he made an upward slash along its nose, seeking its attention. In the event he did not have it, he aimed to land on its snout, make eye contact, and fire a surge of charged ion into each eye. He pointed his vanadium steel sword at it, and yelled. "I am the Winter Herald, defender of Center City and its people! I am your cue to hibernate! Do so immediately, or face me!"

OOC: 16:22, Today: Winter Herald rolled 22 using 1d20+14.  Initiative. Just in case it is needed.
16:23, Today: Winter Herald rolled 14 using 1d20+12.  Strike with sword. Forgot to record that this is supposed to be a Called Shot for the nose.

Justicar's call to action coinciding with his attack and followed by Senor Garcia firing at the beast broke Bellissima free of her paralysis as she backed up, raising her Psi-Shield as she moved to its side so that she wasn't in immediate range of being stepped on, pushing through the fear that was trying to overwhelm her.

She frowned as she noticed that it was more bipedal than four footed as she watched its attack miss Justicar and tear into the side of the Harmon building, her Psi-Shield catching and deflecting debris that fell around her.   Garcia's gunfire seemed to be as effective as ant bites as she heard the agent firing away.

Eyes a lighting on a manhole cover, she reached out with her telekinesis and picks up the metal disk and sends it flying through the air to slam it against the bear. Bellissima mentally moving toward fight over the flight reaction the creature's presence was invoking.  As the metal disk bounced off the creature, she spun it around and slammed it into the creature again.

Crusader begins whipping knives at the creature, eventually leaving nine blades buried in the brontobear's chest. Bellissima whips a manhole cover from the street and begins pounding the bear with that.
The bear takes issue with the manhole cover, his next paw swipe broke it in half.
Runa accosts the crowd, her bearing and tone help quite a few of the civilians AND police officers to cease panicking and protect those that can't help themselves.
Winter Herald shoots up and plies his swords to some effect, the brontobear takes the bait and throws a paw swipe at the android. The claws catch on the android's armor and sparks flare is the claw rips across the front of the android's armor.
The Maharajah suddenly shows his own sword work as he rushes in and strikes both ankles with his swords. The bear swipes a paw at The Maharajah, but The Maharajah sides steps the paw as if he expected it.
Chimp Man Z runs up the bears legs and strikes it 'in the vitals' as they say.

The Stun Gun Blasters are not part of the suit's original designed weapons array, but the Combat Computer, Laser Targeting, and various sensors arrays attempt to compensate for Hikari's non-proficiency with the energy weapons... somewhat...

Again the Young hero attempts to stun/blind the Beast using non-lethal weapons to avoid injuring the beast in any permanent way but also to stall/ disorient/ delay the beast and hinder its ability to attack.

Delaying the 'Kaiju' Bear until the Justicar-PALADIN arrives to give needed 'leverage' to subdue the beast properly... the rolling rumble of its rocket thrusters announcing its rapid approach...

Bellissima kept her Psi-shield between her and the giant bear as she moved to keep to its side, cursing as she watched the thing bat at the manhole cover and its long claw just slice through the heavy metal disc and slice it into roughly two pieces. She didn't care so much about the disc's aerodynamics, but the loss of weight as she was was left with two smaller pieces of metal as she hurled one against the giant bear, it being almost impossible to miss the huge bear as the half disk slammed into its neck.  She pulled the other piece of the half disc over to her for safety.

Center City - The Harmon Building

Justicar swoops around the Bronto-bear's flank, briefly moving out of the beast's line of sight he swung around to get Crusader in view...

"Crusader.  On Go."

Angling around, his mechanical fan Jet wings spread wide for precision flying as he aimed his left gauntlet's Spike-Tow line launcher.  The laser targeting computer leading his aim based upon his circling flight trajectory... and he dipped to a height of 30'ft.  His right arm side closest to the Kaiju Bear held his impact-plastic Riot shield up ready to parry a paw swipe from the Titanic bear.

"Crusader ~ 3 - 2 - 1 ~"

He fired the spike tow line launcher and the spiked head impacted at an angle not piercing the pavement some 20'ft to Crusader's left.... but Justicar did not slow down one bit.  The spike head sprung open its catch flanges and was dragged by Justicar's circling flight path within easy reach in front of Crusader.. the spiked flanges forming a perfect foot catch for her to stand on.

"Go!!!"

Once Crusader grabbed the line Justicar ignited his rocket thrusters and jetted for altitude increasing speed but balancing out with Crusader's un-aerodynmic drag and weight on their flight speed.  Then he reeled the spike cable in to bring Crusader within 15'ft of him as he swung around and above the Bronto-bear, trying his best not to let Crusader spin on the line uncontrollably...

But he did not swing her at the bear... instead he continued his evasive circle of the bear... clearly waiting for the tactical moment the bear had committed and used all its reactions so that Crusader was not in the beqr's face with IT fully ready to react to her presence. He flew evasively dodging any bite and parrying with his shield to defect any paw swipes. He continued to circle its head looking to blindside the beast when Crusader was ready to act...

Instead he aimed his shoulder mounted Weapon arm into position aiming at the bear's chest and ribs...

"Karl, 5.56mm Gun, load 'Spartan' Rounds."

'Acknowldged Spartan Rounds loaded'

"Ok, 'Kaiju-Bear'... immune to stun ~ fine, this is going to hurt..."

To which Justicar unleashed a punishing long burst Aimed at the beast's ribs... the 'spartan' Rounds were frangible and as such mushroomed almost as soon as they existed the barrel {meant for pistols not LMGs}... giving an abysmal effective range of only 180'ft compared to the weapons normal 1,000'ft range.  More than enough range with Justicar's 40'ft orbit of the titanic beast. The Rounds had very little penetration and as such most artificial armor was doubly effective against them!  But they hit with a punishing brutal impact... even kaiju Bear flesh ... was still flesh... the rounds would HURT.. not injure ~ leaving terrible bruises! His Aim to send the barrage away from any teammates trying to attack the beast's head...

Whirrr - Chang-Chang-Chang-Chang-Chang-Chang-Chang-Chang-Cha~

Karl, set the drones with their Stun Gun Blasters weaponry on standby... not seeing the point of putting them at risk of being struck with the barrage of weapons-fire or bear paws when they only had marginal assorted weaponry beyond their seemingly now known to be ineffective blaster weapons.  Instead they spread their formation to monitor the battle record footage and be available to provide support to the team if needed.

As the battle rages... the high pitched whine and roar of rocket engines is heard by all and a shadow rushes across the scene as something mechanical circles the battlezone around the cityscape hidden by the buildings as it moves into final approach position...

Having escorted off as many civilians as was possible from the immediate danger area, Runa turned back to where the gigantic beast was fighting her teammates. Lilibeth's encouraging words had done wonders for her, reminding her of her faith in the Goddess and the faith that Ishtar has in her. Taking a deep, chest swelling breath, she says over the 'radio' that Justicar had given her, [Language unknown: "Me cecom!"] she says simply. [Language unknown: "Tic ious as m!"]

Once the two pieces of the manhole cover are in her hands, she fits them together like a puzzle. Focusing that part of Grace within her, emerald energy surges down her hands and envelopes the pieces. In the blink of an eye, the manhole cover is restored as if it had never been damaged! Not even a line where the split once was. She holds it loosely in her hands so that Bellissima can whisk it away easily with her mind mage abilities

Bellissima sent the broken steel disc into the side of the Bronto Bear, under its arm, hoping to hit a nerve cluster or lymph node.  Under the arm is where most mammals have such vulnerabilities, although she had no assurance this giant bear had the same systems as their world mammals did.  It was at least a possible target.

She could feel the fear and horror receding as she focused more on fighting the huge creature, getting her mental shields back in place to broke her from the background noise of people as everyone ran away smartly.

Shaking her head as she watched the efforts of her teammates, Justicar flying Crusader up high, Z hitting the thing where it might have its reproductive equipment,  Winter Herald flying in the giant bear's face to distract it and taking damage.

She was about to sling her makeshift weapon at the Bear again, when she heard Runa's panting response that she could fix the steel disk.  Bellissima turned to look over at Runa as she sent both pieces of the manhole cover in front of the tall heroine.  She held the disk still in front of the woman as Runa reached out and focused her energies on the sheared in two disk and Bellissima's eyes widen in impressed surprise as the could feel the disk becoming one piece again.    She replied to Runa as she took the manhole cover back and flung it back at the Bronto Bear, slamming it against where its solar plexus might be.

Winter Herald felt a damage report was essential for the sake of his team.

Following his own advice, he gave four quick strikes to a single leg, and from the ground, blasted the eye of the bear twice with ion blasts from his own eye. He was working the bear's left side, aiming to make it unstable and accelerate its fall. He fought conservatively, intent on counterattacking the bear if an artful parry was plausible, and a dodge with no counterattaack given if it was not.

OOC: 11:57, Today: Winter Herald rolled 25 using 1d20+12.  Strike with sword. Left Leg.
12:07, Today: Winter Herald rolled 29 using 4d6+15.  Damage with sword.

11:59, Today: Winter Herald rolled 14 using 1d20+11.  Strike with ion blast. Left Eye.
12:08, Today: Winter Herald rolled 9 using 3d6.  Ion blaster damage.
12:00, Today: Winter Herald rolled 3 using 1d20.  Potential Parry (+15) or Dodge (+13). This is 18 or 16, neither of which are good, but the intent is a simultaneous strike.
12:00, Today: Winter Herald rolled 2 using 1d20.  Potential Parry (+15) or Dodge (+13). This is 17 or 15, both of which are worse than the prior roll, but the intent is once again a simultaneous strike.
12:01, Today: Winter Herald rolled 17 using 1d20+12.  Potential counterattack. Left Leg.
12:07, Today: Winter Herald rolled 33 using 4d6+15.  Damage with sword.
12:01, Today: Winter Herald rolled 19 using 1d20+12.  Potential counterattack. Left Leg.
12:07, Today: Winter Herald rolled 26 using 4d6+15.  Damage with sword.

Technically, all of these are Called Shots. Also, if the bear swings at me while I'm doing the first set of strikes to the leg, I will admittedly have no parry against it - they are dual-strikes.

Potential damage =
Left Leg = 93 to 156 damage, depending on if it can be parried or not and how the round plays out.
Left Eye = 21 damage.

Initiative roll:  18 + 7 = 25

Horror Factor roll:  19 + 7 = 26  Fuck yeah!  Bring it MFer!!

Since he's already on the back of the beast Mae Ha Rga climbs on top of its head and points down at its face Channel and Unleash Physical Energy.  Justicar had sprayed it in the face before with paint.  Hopefully the paint is flammable and this heat blast will set it ablaze.

Strike roll with heat and force at bear's face covered in paint:  12 + 7 = 19

Damage:  3, 3, 1 + 16 = 23 + there might be additional fire damage if his face catches on fire

Seeing that shooting the giant beat in the body was not having an effect, Senior Garcia takes aim at the bear’s neck. At forty feet tall, the head itself was roughly the size of a person and wasn't much smaller. It wasn't a heard target to hit, even with JUSTICAR flying around so close to the head for some reason or another.

Firing his Mk 20 SSR Sniper/Battle Rifle five more times in succession, Senor Garcia wished he had a Barrett M82, or a McMillan TAC-50. The harder hitting 12.7x99mm rounds would be much more effective as even the shock wave of a round passing by a person's head is enough to liquify their brain...

Winter Herald rushes through the bear's feet, which, by chance, happen to be bare. Sword strikes to the bare ankles on the giant bear have barely begun to have an affect.
Just as The Maharaja unleashes a blast of pure energy down the bear's face, Winter Herald follows up his ankle strikes with energy of his own into the bear's eye. Between The Maharaja's blast and Winter Herald's, a small fireball flares at the bear's face.
JUSTICAR drops his towline to assist Crusader approaching the huge creature, and Crusader catches the tow line. The bear reacts to the trauma in its face by flailing paws in front of its nose. JUSTICAR anticipated this response and dodges the paws just as Crusader succeeds in grabbing the tow line and being lifted into position.
Bellissima whacks the brontobear with half a manhole cover then moves it to Runa for repairs. Runa makes the manhole cover whole again.
Señor Garcia pops a few more caps on the beast.
The brontobear bends over and bites off the bottom of a concrete street lamp. The bite leaves a six foot hole in the pavement where the base of the streetlight previously stood.
Chimp Man Z believes he's found a tender spot, and he continues to work it.

As warning he calls out, "Crusader on Deck Now!"

And almost pirouetting in flight whips her around on the tow-line flinging her at the Bear's head... letting the {120'ft} line spool out as much as she needs.  At the same time he widens his flight distance from the bear out to 60'ft distant way out of paw or bite reach as he continues to unlesh his long burst of 'spartan' rounds aimed specifically at the beast's rib-cage.

Runa was glad to hear Winter Herald say over the radio that the damage he had suffered was minor. That meant that so far, none of the team had been hurt and required her to heal them. Which in turn meant she could actively aid them in the struggle against the building sized beast.

From what she had seen, all of the team's direct efforts at hurting the beast, had little or no effect. "I think Hikari is trying to trip the bear, like in Star Wars. Think you can help?" Lilibeth says to Runa, guessing at what Hikari was trying to do with his cable.

"We shall see," Runa thinks back at her even as she takes off at a full sprint. She points herself directly at the back of one of the beast's knees and then leaps up, executing a kick. As she travels through the air, she channels some of her energy into her extended foot, causing it to glow with a white light bright enough to be seen clearly despite the ambient sunlight.

The brontobear tosses his head and looses the streetlight in the general direction of something that keeps stinging him. It smashes into the building about half the way up the side of the building. Justicar informed by Karl, reels in the Spiked-Tow line to bring Crusader to a gentle landing from her spectacular kick delivered to the Bear's head!

Above, Justicar's drones suddenly in perfect formation spread far apart to make room as the roar of rocket thrusters flares from above and a shadow falls over the Kaiju Bear.

The Rocket roars then ceases replaced with the whir of Fan thrusters as coming out of the glare of the sun is a 25'ft Tall white with golden trimming mecha suit that comes to hover to 500'ft about the battle scene!

Justicer in response cuts his own rocket thrusters and spreads his mechanical fan thruster wings to rise to the new arrival.

"Sentinels ~ Justicar-PALADIN is here... gonna need a little room...!"

{Particle Beam Cannon Rifle, not deployed still in weapons-boom at center back}

Justicar rises to the mecha robot vehicle, its thickly armor-plated chest opening to reveal... a docking harness for the Justicar inside, curiously an empty pilot's seat can be briefly seen above and behind where Justicar interlocks with the mecha in its chest before it seals up.  The flying tank seats two...

The expressionless robotic head's singular eye slit ignites with a baleful green light almost seeming to scowl.  There is No Doubt the mecha is bristling with weaponry, with the characteristic twin shoulder weapons arms the Justicar has but these holding instead heavy military grade ordinance of an Auto Grenade Launcher and a Heavy Laser Cannon respectively, along with multiple missile pods and weapons ports with a weapons-boom rising like a mast at its center back.

The Loudspeaker declares in Hikari's voice, "Ok Tall, Dark and Hairy, I got my 'Prom Suit' now.. let's Dance!"

The robot vehicle moves with a fluid agility that is freakishly life-like as it gestures pointing a fist at the bear and Hikari is heard ~ "ROCKET PUNCH!!"

Engine ports click open at the forearm elbow and the entire forearm detaches with the roar of rocket engines as the metallic giant's fist thunders through the air to slam the Kiaju Bear solidly in the snout between its eyes!!!

'SHROOOooooooOOW'- WHUUMP!!!

Fan thrusters settling the Justicar-PALADIN to the pavement the amazingly agile mecha bounces on the balls of its metallic feet scratching deep grooves in the street pavement as it takes a boxing stance before the bear.  Even though the bear still towers some 15'ft over the Metal Giant clearly ... this is Now a different fight... as PALADIN beings to 'bob-and-weave' in recognizable Mixed-Martial Arts Boxing style. The launched appendage on its own flight-systems returns and reattaches itself to the arm and is again ready and raised to fight!

He does not hesitate taking the fight to the bear as soon as he lands slipping two paired vicious metallic jabs to the ribs he'd been recently punishing with spartan rounds.  Mecha fists raised to paired-parry the paw-swipes and bob-and-weave to dodge the bite.  Then Again... "ROCKET-FIST!!"

The engine ports open again on the other forearm and rockets roar to life... but the forearm does not detach instead the rockets increase the speed and impact of a devastating power punch boxing upper cut to the bear's maw!

'SHROOOWW ~ WHAAAAMMMM!'

A punishing assault... on the bear's Scale!

But again... Justicar is practically ignoring all the weapons systems he could be using.. clearly his intent it to wear the bear down with simple skill over might and put him down with an opportunity boxing KO when the bear weakens ~ Not Kill!

Initiative roll:  11 + 7 = 18

Since CMZ is now standing right next to Mae Ha Rga he turns to his teammate.
"How about we wrap that lamppost around the creature's neck before he can attack?"
Mae Ha Rga grabs hold of the lamppost when it's not attacking the building and starts pushing it over the back of its neck with his supernatural strength while the other end is still held in the bear's mouth.

CMZ has had enough.  He is tired of being afraid of this overgrown teddy bear.  Gripping the bear's fur tightly with his feet and tail, he stands to almost his full height right next to the ear, and roars as he pounds his chest.  Then he begins slamming his fists down upon the bear's skull.

Seeing the giant mechanical, the 'row bot' as Lilibeth called such things, fall out of the sky surprised and impressed Runa. Not so much for its mere existence. She had seen many technological marvels since being sent here and this was just another example. No what had impressed her was how despite being so much smaller than the beast, Justicar still dared to challenge it in hand to hand combat.

"Yah that is pretty gutsy of him," Lilibeth says in her mind, "But now we have two pairs of car sized feet to worry about stepping on us." Runa had to admit that Lilibeth had a point, a pressing point actually, since her kick had landed them right next to the left foot of the stupendous bear like creature. To help her teammates and to get out from underfoot, literally, Runa launched two glowing uppercuts at the ankle of the monster, then jumped back and away from it in an attempt to prevent accidentally being stepped on.

Bellissima kept her Psi-shield between her and the giant bear as she slammed the manhole cover into the giant creature. The brunette heroine was staying to the side of the giant bear while those with better defenses are in front of it or on it.  Winching as she watched the bear toss Maharaja and Z off of it, The two landing on the ground, but immediately getting up and attacking the bear again.  As she slammed the manhole cover against the bear over and over, aiming for areas that would be sensitive on a normal bear, knowing full well that that might be completely wrong against this creature.

Then a giant mecha comes flying out of the air, Justicar flying up to meet it and joining it, like right out of a Power Rangers movie. She was impressed with the smoothness of the Paladin armor as Justicar engaged in fisticulffs with the bear, which still towered over the mecha robot!

She slammed her weapon of choice, the manhole cover, against the bear again.  She was not seeing any damage to it, but hoping to wear away at it or for a better plan comes to mind.

She called out, "Impressive punches Runa," wondering where the energy covering the woman's fists were coming from.

JUSTICAR boards his mech and sends a rocket punch at the brontobear. The bear grunts, but it appears more because he sees a target more his size than because the punch hurt. It attempts to grab JUSTICAR, obviously attempting a bear hug, but the mech knocks the paws away. JUSTICAR throws a jab at the bear, which the bear ignores. Then the mega bruin watches, and when another jab is thrown it bites JUSTICAR as the metal fist hits it.

OOC:
First, at least one action should be taken to get into the mech. Then I'll move through JUSTICAR and the brontobear tussling through part of their actions, and then allow for modifications to stated actions as this changes the battlefield a bit.
JUSTICAR's rocket punch and the following jab do 76 points to the bear, the bear's bite does 55 points to JUSTICAR. Technically, the to hit roll exceeded the AR and the damage should be applied to the pilot. I'm ruling that the multiple suits of armor mitigate the damage in this fashion. Somehow the bear's canine slipped through a chink in the outer armor suit. Full damage (55 points) was done to the inner armor suit. Hikari takes half damage (27 points to SDC) as the bear jaws squeeze the armor suits enough to compress the pilot.
As everyone has saved vs horror factor, that column has been replaced with a column indicating how many actions have been taken.

It makes sense for Karl to handle the docking, that works. However,
Heroes Unlimited Revised Second Edition, page 70:
Simultaneous Attacks: Combatants can parry or dodge each other's attacks or they can forfeit any type of defensive maneuvers (probably taking damage from the opponent's strike) and strike back simultaneously. The advantage of a simultaneous attack is that, while opening oneself to damage, it deprives one's opponent from parrying or dodging the counter strike. The reason
the attacker loses his opportunity to parry when the defender attacks simultaneously is that  he cannot both attack and defend at the same time. Thus, both combatants may take damage from each other's blows. This tactic can be used by any O.C.C.

The brontobear bit the mech while the mech was punching the brontobear. It can't be parried OR dodged.

Winter Herald noted that the battle had changed. The bear was now sufficiently distracted, and the rest of the team was intent on pressing the attack. It made sense, on the surface - it was his idea, after all, and they likely drew the conclusion parallel to his own.

However, he had other ideas. +[Language unknown: "Eima itmo k outessprepre n tra dial ie. P wemen ro alticaro ncesanencave ut ekst wiureiom te se wissun p hirut eiman wh noha'neta la. U ilro con atntha erace inwh encal rotr tedthiand teli th U p osel are trne fomiee."]+

He sheathed his weapon, and began using his considerable mobility to begin operations from the top of the building to its bottom.

He was checking for three things: any weaknesses on the bear, if the building was too badly damaged to remain standing, and if the police had missed someone he would not, because he has an extensive sensor suite built-in and they do not.

OOC: 19:41, Today: Winter Herald rolled 77 using 1d100.  Biology for obvious weak points on bear. TN 62 assumed. Not a success, unless something is giving me some serious bonuses.
19:43, Today: Winter Herald rolled 5 using 1d100.  Seeing if building requires destruction for safety's sake. TN 98 assumed. This, on the other hand, I passed.

1 Action - Rocket Punch [33 Damage]
1 Action - Paired Weapons - Punch/Jab [43 Damage], Punch/Jab [47 Damage]
- And Justicar hit it twice with Punch/Jabs that's not 76 damage, its 123 damage!

Did not cost him an action to for either parry - Paired Weapons - Parry/Parry

You have not counted his Power-Punch/Rocket Fist hit or Damage - That is 2 Actions [108 Damage]
THAT would leave him with 1 Action left

Center City - The Harmon Building

Just as the brontobear releases its bite, powerful rockets propel JUSTICAR's fist into the underside of the brontobear's jaw. The brontobear begins to move backward, but finds its feet engaged and swipes at the obstacles. The Mahraja bends at the waist and pivots on his feet, thus avoiding the swiping paw. Runa takes a different tack, backhanding the paw around her.
As Winter Herald watches the brontobear and considers options,  Crusader leaps from the last drone onto the brontobear's shoulder, then winds up and lands a devastating kick to the brontobear. The Maharaja begins to pull on one ankle.
Bellissima smacks the monster with her manhole cover.
Runa worries the ankle opposite The Maharaja.
Chimp Man Z slams his fists into the brontobear's skull.
Señor Garcia puts three rounds into the brontobear's knee.
The brontobear begins to fall backwards, straight into the building Señor Garcia is on. The building shakes, but still appears unwilling to collapse. Chimp Man Z is smashed through the outer wall of the building and finds himself standing in a bedroom. It appears to belong to a teenage girl as the posters on the wall depict BTS, something about endangered river dolphins, and Chimp Man Z climbing into a window on a burning building with "Orphanage for the Blind" carved into the stonework.

Center City - The Harmon Building

The Bronto-bears Jaws clamp down on the smaller Metal Warrior scratching the paint certainly but one fang finds purchase in the seem of the pilot's hatch and with a shriek of metal punctures the the seem.  But the flurry of battle is so quick with the tussling giants it is hard to see if there was any affect for certain the puncture is tiny as the rest of the toothy maw cannot penetrate the armored shell in any appreciable fashion before the White  and gold mecha tussles the beast off again..

Across the comm lines Justicar grunts, "Uhnnah... Acknowledged Winter...such was my plan..."

The Paladin again takes up a boxing stance his feet subtly shifting balance ... as the metal knight bounces on the balls of it metal feet shift to those who are familiar more of a Tai-Kick boxing ready stance... as with fists raised the Paladin waits for Kaiju-Bear to attack with its instinctual untrained lumbering way parrying any blow or bite it attempts to hit with waiting like a professional boxer for its titan-sized opponent to commit while biding time to slip in past its non-existing active defense holding to deliver precision devastating metallic-fisted jabs and rocket punches...

In reply to SSOGM (msg # 126):

Initiative:  12 + 7 = 19

There isn't much Mae Ha Rga can do to bring this fight to an end, but he does still know how to cause debilitating pain in this creature.  Just like any creature that has toenails or claws (that are just really sharp toenails) if you shove something underneath that nail/claw it is going to hurt like little else can.  Since the bear seems to be a little stunned after falling back into the building and not moving Mae Ha Rga will go over to the nearest foot and carefully slide his katana underneath the claw.  (shouldn't need to roll to hit if he's taking time to do it so carefully)  And then with all his supernatural strength and both hands on the hilt he will jam the sword as far in there as he can get it.

Damage:  2, 4, 5, 3, 1, 1 + 14 = 30 (didn't do much damage, but I'll bet you anything it got his attention and maybe gave a litle bit of a limp on that sensitive foot)

Bellissima moved back from the giant creature as it stumbled back into the building, causing it to shake and knocking large pieces of it.  She blocked some of the fallen debris with her Psi-shield as she took the manhole cover and slammed it against the giant creature again.  She would love to keep it off balance, but she just wasn't strong enough to knock the creature off balance with her attacks.  Justicar's mecha was doing a good job of knocking the bear off balance though and to support keeping the Bear's eyes on the Paladin, when she whisked the manhole cover into the bear, she pulled it around so the manhole circled around Paladin's head.

Winter Herald put out a call. +"Snowblind. I am uncertain if you are paying attention to the channel, and I do not know if you are compelled to show up for this battle. However, I am requesting your services here. The bear will not like your gift much. It will slow it down."+

He popped this small knife back in the sheath in his right arm, because he needed a hand open for what he was about to do. +"Hikari, once it is open, strike its nose and underchin. Any other head blows might endanger me if your targeting is not up to par. The rest, choose a project, and commit to it until it breaks off from Hikari."+

He calculated trajectory for a brief moment, and leapt down to engage. The math was inefficient, but it yielded the desired conclusions. His jumpjets gave the corrections needed for him to land on its head like a lynx with a resounding "CLANG" on bone. He devoted his next moments to getting a grip with his left hand, making sure he didn't fall off this unsteady platform, and then at the first opportunity, striking the first soft target in his range - eye, ear, even the flaps of fur that marked the neck would be valid targets for him.

00:36, Today: Winter Herald rolled 83 using 1d100.  Advanced Mathematics. TN 98 with a 12% overflow.
00:41, Today: Winter Herald rolled 22 using 1d20+9.  Likely time of impact created a Power Strike.

00:44, Today: Winter Herald rolled 84 using 1d100.  Climbing check, TN 97.

Lilibeth saw the moment the stumbling dinosaur sized bear smashed Jacob into and through the building. Her concern was enough to cause Runa to pause before taking another swing at the beast's ankle. Lilibeth knew that Jacob was incredibly tough but maybe even he could be hurt when literally smashed through a building.

Runa charges at the building, calling on the power of The Goddess to strengthen her legs. The priestess leaps for the area where Jacob is, soaring a flatly impossible distance into the air for any un-enhanced mortal. If successful, she will look for her friend and determine if he is hurt or not.

CamZ picks himself up off the floor of the room, glancing around at the paraphenalia of a girl's teenage years.  He hopes that no one is home, but he cannot dwell upon it, as there is a giant bear to take down before any more damage is done.
Still using his very aggressive Stone Monkey Kata, and clinging to the bear's fur with his prehensile feet and tail, CMZ decides a change of tactic is in order.  Since he seems to be getting nowhere with trying to knock the bear out, he charges out of the building, leaping towards the brontobear, and leaps back onto it, to scramble up the side and the bear's head to his face.  Once there, he begins punching at the giant ursine's eyes.

He pulled himself up on the head, and casually spoke to Chimp Man Z, as he pulled fighting protocols from a movie in his databanks and cross-referenced them with practicality. "Hello, Z. Left one, please."

He slashed twice just above the bear's left eye, hoping to blind it with blood loss, like a boxer hit too many times in the face. He realized he needed to be ready to dodge or resecure his grip. Unlike his simian compatriot, he recognized that a successful strike and fall could seriously damage him. However, he also recognized the two of up here had to keep the bear from focusing on proper attack and defense.

Runa was just a moment too slow in reaching the half demolished room. Jacob leapt out of it and on to the top of the giant bear's head before she could reach him assess his injuries and heal him. Which left her standing in a mostly destroyed room with no one to heal.

Looking down on the city street turned battlefield, she had a much better view than from ground level. That view allowed her to see the bear use the Maharaja for kicking practice. The mysterious warrior stood back up after the kick but Runa couldn't tell if he had been injured or not. Since the one she had come to heal had left and there was nothing else she could do from the room, she leapt down to where Maharaja stood. "Well, at least getting back down was faster than going up!" Lilibeth said to her soul companion, trying to her best to put a bright face on things.

Runa grunted in acknowledgement and proceeded to touch the shoulder of Maharaja. As she did her hand became surrounded by a bright green aura.

But Justicar replies over the exterior loudspeakers, "We are wearing the kaiju bear down, keeping the collateral damage to minimum, and the civilian casualties to none.  I know it's tedious, but We are winning ~ Sentinels!
We do not need to do anything drastic or reckless... just be persistent. This is not a test of power it is a battle of endurance!"

"Battling the bear I can estimate it is roughly 10 tons. The amount of voltage needed to affect it and the damage inflicted upon the powergrid of the city to get access to a high-tension cable of sufficient capacity could put out the power in whole sections of the city.  Something I'd really like to avoid as I'm sure our bosses would agree!"

Then Justicar will get on the private secure LESP channel...

Then he switched to a Tai-kick Boxing stance while the bear was being countered with his parries ... and the jump-jets on the calves of the metal warrior fired as PALADIN threw a DEVASTATING Jet-boosted Wheel kick ~

Swooosh-Rawwwwwrrrr! "JETKICK!"

KRANNNNNNGGG!

The  blow still rigging from the impact PALADIN does not stop moving but drops executing a perfectly delivered, while the Bronto-bear is unbalance, a leg Hook Tripping maneuver to take the bears feet out from under it!

Bellissima nodded and voiced her agreement with Justicar, "Indeed, we are doing good.  We are fighting in an area that is clear of people and keeping the fight here.  There is no reason to send the town into a major blackout to take this giant bear down."

She kept sending her weapon into the giant bear over and over again, having the manhole cover fly over the Paladin's shoulder in an attempt to help keep the bear focused on the giant mecha.

With The Maharaja fully healed, Runa turns her attention back to the brontobear. Since so many of her comrades were attacking the beast's head and eyes, she sprinted back to the foot she had punched before. Once there she again began slamming her fists into the ankle joint, hoping it would at least hamper the bear's mobility.

Mae Ha Rga will go back to work on that toe claw that he left his sword under.  He'll get up on top of the foot and activate the Supernatural Strength again.  Then grab the hilt and turn it blade side up and with everything he's got he'll pull up to pry the claw off the toe and the point of the sword will dig into the meat under the claw.

Winter Herald drew the consensus this fight was becoming prolonged, and decided to abandon any pretense of defense for pure aggression. Hopefully, Mae Ha Rga would draw his attention with that toe stab, or the bear would decide that Chimp Man Z or Justicar were better targets. He simply wailed on and around the eyeball, not really caring much for powerful blows as long as they were steady, although his sword hit something it didn't like on his fourth series of whirling and relentless strikes.

Winter Herald finishes worrying the beast's eye.
JUSTICAR slams a powerful kick and attempts to sweep the creature's leg out from under it. Although the brontobear's legs spread wide, it doesn't fall..
The Maharaja continues to worry at the foot opposite the one JUSTICAR swept.
Chimp Man Z beats on the brontobear's eye some more.
Bellissima hits the bear with the manhole cover, again.
Crusader leaps back down and away from the brontobear.
Señor Garcia reloads.
Runa moves to the ankle JUSTICAR swept and punishes it further.
The brontobear has begun to look like it's been in a fight. However, it doesn't look like it's lost the fight.

Bellissima was settling down with the rest of the team on just pounding the crap out of the poor giant bear from multiple directions to keep the giant animal off balance. She continued to try to make it look like the Paladin robot was shooting out the manhole covers, bringing the manhole cover over the Paladin's shoulder as it smashed into the Giant Bear.

"It looks like we are starting to have an effect on it!  Stay focused everyone!"
Bellissima called out to everyone as she moved where she wouldn't be accidently stepped on or have debris fall on her as the bear rubbed against the building.

Despite focusing on doing so, the brontobear is unable to avoid neither JUSTICAR's fisticufs and rocket powered blows nor Winter Herald's onslaught.
Crusader uses a ledge on the building behind the brontobear to deliver rapid fire kicks to its ribs; the creature is too large to escape this punishment, as well.
All, but one, of Señor Garcia's shots land true.
Between Runa's ankle assault and The Maharaja's work on the foot, the brontobear appears to attempt to hop back and forth. Its movements don't hamper the heroes in any way.
Bellissima continues to smash the manhole cover into the hapless beast.
Chimp Man Z jumps up and down on the brontobear's bare shoulder repeatedly beating the brow and sometimes behind the ear of the creature.
During it all, the brontobear jerks back and forth and does all it can to not be hit. It becomes obvious that it has decided it can't knock these attackers away. The bear's next move is still somewhat of a surprise as it flops down onto its bronto-behind and begins to bear cry.

RUNA, get Lilibeth on deck, as well as you Belissima... try to calm the bear... a gentle voice and inspire some trust if you can?!? Let him get your scent..show no fear!"

Getting on the Secure LESP radio line Justicar calls Agent Broyko again...

At the same time Paladin takes a couple steps back away from the bear out of melee reach... but easily able to re-eguage if needed.

OOC: Hikari is under the impression, perhaps incorrectly, that Lilibeth has a high MA and might be able with Bellissima {also a high MA} to calm the bear down.

Winter Herald disengages, leaping from the bear, and firing thrusters before landing. [Language unknown: "Elstlo hisichith."]

He looks back up to it, speaking to Runa as he did so. "Fascinating. I wonder how intelligent it is. It possesses an empathy invoking response to pain. That means it is a social creature. It would not be crying for help if it were not."

He considers at this point the damage inflicted to the area. "I suspect there is little I can do here to help from here in. The exact amount of damage to end the conflict has been delivered, and I was not programmed for animal care. My role here is done. I would start by treating its eye, as that looks pretty bad, but I am not the professional."

He needed to find out if Snowblind was connected to the LESP network or not. If they were, he needed to know why they didn't respond. If they were not... well, Snowblind was really his best lead into finding FORCE.

Either way, Winter Herald had drawn consensus, and decided his efforts would be better invested in other things. FORCE was still at large. Holly Cook was now an uncertainty that his efforts were clearly being wasted on.

He needed a disguise kit or something. That would be his next priority after learning Snowblind's status.

Suddenly the giant bear just gave up fighting, collapsing to its but and snuffing demoralizedly. This was something of a shock.  It wasn't the behavior of an animal.  An animal would have taken off running to get away from what was hurting it.  It also showed that it didn't really see them as a danger to its life. She pulled the manhole cover back and hovered it next to her psi-shield.

"Working on it, although telepathy does not translate language, if this being even has language," Bellissima responded to Justicar. "Stay in front of it, the Paladin is only thing big enough for it to really contact with," she advised Justicar.

Reaching out with her thoughts, she tried to see what she could pick up from brontobear's mind. Are these people that stupid? Is all Senor Garcia thinks as there are calls to keep cease attacking and try to heal the damage, they've done to the forty-foot bear.

Holding his fire, Senor Garcia keeps his rifle aimed at the bear, in case it does get hostile again.

He then gets on the radio to state his case. [Language unknown: "At caecpo ullese tho ssaiel howas e was o tho ichoreter winde ceeeis."

As the brontobear quits fighting, CMZ drops to the ground near it an walks over to Bellissima, just in time to catch her discussing telepathic contact.  He looks back at the whimpering bear.
I've been studying the spider monkeys, doing a lot of research using google, a couple of vetrinarians, and even speaking to Jane Goodall, he says.  Something I've discovered is that most animals, like cat and dogs, don't think or communicate in concepts and language like we do.  It's all sensory, whether body positioning and visual cues, sound and tonal cues, pheromones and smell, or even touch.  Try using images and sense memories, even emotional cues, to try to get your message across.

Snowblind was his best lead. The last lackey to work for FORCE, one who had achieved leniency in the eyes of the law, someone who wasn't too bright and lacked a strong moral compass - the odds they would be contacted again for future work or elimination was high, if it had not occurred already. If nothing else, Snowblind would have details on how they were hired and what transportation and communications were like, and might even know a handler or contact or two that could get him a lead towards finding Major FORCE and dispatching him.

At rather high speeds, he left to look for them, barring a reason not to go immediately, like a hand put on him, or something odd like that.

"They are going to be talking forever," Lilibeth says to Runa. "Just heal the poor thing already!"

Runa wasn't so sure, they had just been fighting the beast but then again, perhaps tending to its wounds would convince the animal that being friendly would be better than being hostile. The priestess nodded her head and reached out to where she had been punching its ankle bone. Her hands took on a bright green aura as she summoned the divine energy within her. As she willed the creature's injuries to heal, she reassuringly at it. [Language unknown: "Ticingore, ating nafihi pe ive. "Are you saying this poor creature is from a universe that has no flow of positive nor negative chi at all?  What kind of horrible isolation beings from that place must endure?  It is the flow that connects everything everywhere.  I would never have thought such a place could exist.  Wait, what if Holly is in such a place as that?  If the flow of chi was slowly killing this alien bear and Holly is in the same place this bear came from then the lack of flow would surely be killing her just the same.  In fact, it would have an even more devastating effect on her because she doesn't have the monstrous stamina this bear had."

Bellissima frowned as the bear was killed before she could contact it or even determine if she could have contacted it.  She rubbed her head, as she replaced the manhole cover back into the hole it covered as she turned and walked away.

She didn't have any clues to follow up to find Holly or Vitaly and she had a major headache from over-extending her psychic powers again. She stopped next to Runa/Lillibeth, "You did your best, but it wasn't meant to be.  From what I am hearing Crusader tell Maharaja, it couldn't survive in this universe."

Leaving the area, she returned home to mediate and recover her strength before getting back to her studies.  Hopefully, Justicar would come up with something to save Holly.  Meanwhile she had classwork to catch up on.

Runa, try though she might, fails to push the spark of the divine into the sobbing bear. "Its like trying to push together two magnets with the same pole," Lilibeth thought, feeling Runa's struggle. After another minute of effort to no avail, Runa lowers her hands, exhausted from trying to save the creature's life. Runa could feel Lilibeth's sadness and was about to comfort her when Bellissima came to them and offered her own kind words.

"Thank you Bellissima. You are right, Fate had other plans for this bear. Perhaps this is for the best."

Runa could feel a spark of anger rise within Lilibeth's mind at her words but the other woman's sadness smothered it before it could turn to fury. Runa actually regretted that for anger would at least provoke Lilibeth into interacting with her. As it was, when she got like this, Runa knew it would be hours at best, before the other woman recovered and returned to her normal, irrepressible self.

The heroes, and many other interested citizens, look mournfully upon what they now realize is a helpless innocent caught up in science run amok. As some begin to leave, some work to clean up, and others talk to the press. Most people don't notice the distinguished, older gentleman that approaches the body of the brontobear. A day after the brontobear disintegrates, Hikari notices that his Quantum Pulse Particle Sensor when plotted along a temporal axis, have a somewhat sinusoidal aspect. It's as if each pulse is proceeded by a second pulse in an opposing field strength attenuated as if by distance. Further analysis shows a similar reading from the New York site. Triangulating the two sets of readings leads to a spot some two dozen miles off the coast. There are no islands in that vicinity on any map. Satellite imagery does, in fact, show an island at that location.

He gives a wan smile.  Thanks, though.  My agility and dexterity are thanks to my mutation.  I kind of wish it worked for my reaction time, honestly.  He gives her a nod.  Good thinking on getting civilians out of the way.  That saves lives AND a PR nightmare.
