Sorry, he says as he releases his former Mentor's hand.  From what I understood of what the boy said, I didn't feel there was time to explain.  It seems Drifter did, though.

I have an idea.  He gives a loud, high-pitched chittering sound, and they are soon joined by howler monkeys.  I'm going to see if I can get them to take a look around up there.

After Drifter concentrates, and performs some other arcane manipulations, a grapefruit-sized hole in reality appears in front of him. Matías and Gabriela are aghast, but stand their ground. After some discussion with who, or what, is at the other end of his little rift, Drifter is joined by a twelve inch tall creature formed like a human female with braided golden hair. Her skin is fair and her slanted, calm eyes have blue pupils. She is wearing a white dress and blue cape, and has bright blue ribbons in her hair. She's carrying a green pick.
Gabriela puts her hands to her cheeks and blinks rapidly as she says, [Language unknown: "ndenle e unteha!"], and Matías shakes his head in wonder. The Anjana looks around, and says, "you can call me Jane. What do you need me to do, my friends?"
While this is going on, the howler monkeys went swinging off through the trees and clustered on the underside of the tower. Occasionally, one or two of them would pop up and climb to the roof of the watch tower, then back down. Finally, they all run off at the same time, screaming their heads off.

Whatever is up there, the howlers don't like it, CMZ says to tge others.  To them, whatever it is is just not right.  It's not natural.

Jacob looks to Paragon.  This si something kind of new to me, trying to convince these monkeys to help.  I can't really understand them, yet they somehow seem to understand me, and react accordingly.  Usually by doing what I ask.
He looks thoughtfully a few moments.  Maybe I need to climb up there and take a look.

Jane zips over to Drifter and hovers in front of his face, "I could go look in the tower? I'm really fast and I can hide really well, but I don't think I'll have to because I'll be really fast, you see?"
