Re: Character Development
Palladium as a system has it's flaws, sure, just like every other game system. However, like every game system you actually have to read through it and work through it to learn it. There are 100,000's of Palladium gamers who found it WORTH IT to put in the effort to learn the system and enjoy the many settings.

Drop the excuses and complaining, ruining the enjoyment of the rest of us.

Read the XP and alignments in detail. It gives you a guideline for RPing the character and of course playing in character gets you XP.

Principled = LG
Scrupulus = NG
Unscrupulus = CG
Anarchist = CN
Aberrant = LE
Miscreant = NE
Diabolic = CE

There you go, a straight cross section. Only NN is not represented cause to be honest they don't exist.

Re: Character Development
Now that I've put LITERALLY every bonus I could manage into the stats, I've finally got a stat above 13! Speed is 24 now, woot! I'm like super duper! *Dances*

How fast am I now, because of that? Am I like the flash?

@Starfall thank you, I'll go with unscrupulous :) Normally, I can't roleplay anything beyond a super supportive and friendly girl, but with this evil looking creature, I've got to go unscrupulous, haha

Also what does my horror rating of 14 mean?

Re: Character Development
I can help, but I don't always have my books available and I can't always get back to you right away.
Alignments:
Principled-Law-abiding, upright, good-hearted citizen.  Boy Scout.  Dudley Do-right.  Superman.
Scrupulous-Generally law-abiding, but doing the right thing is more important.  Most superheroes.

Unprincipled-A bit selfish, but usually does the right thing; sometimes hates self for it.  Han Solo.
Anarchist-Laws are for chumps.  Does whatever wants but not maliciously, often good-hearted, glory-hound, or similar.

Miscreant-Maliciously selfish.
Aberrant-Honorable, but a criminal.  Often an anti-hero or vigilante out for revenge.
Diabolic-Enough said.....

Re: Character Development
Horror/Awe Factor is what happens when you see somebody/thing for the first time and it is horrifying or causes you to be awestruck.

Think of meeting your favorite celebrity at a surprise birthday party. You would be mind boggled for a couple of seconds before you realized what was going on and you collected yourself.

Stuff that sees you will go 'oh shit'. If they are hardened veterans (or a major demon or something like that) they most likely will roll a dice with a big bonus and not be impressed. However, if they are not then they will lose an attack and be at a penalty for a bit the first round of combat.

Re: Character Development
The odd thing about alignment is how specific alignments seem to suggest unusual mental processes. For instance, consider the following comparing the alignment to the mental health of the individual:
AlignmentExample
PrincipledSuperman
ScrupulousBatman
UnprincipledHan Solo
AnarchistDeadpool (well, that's how he is NOW)
MiscreantDeadpool (yes, he started out as a donkey depression)
AberrantPunisher
DiabolicThe Joker

But, in Palladium games, it is entirely possible to be a Principled psychotic or sociopath.

Re: Character Development
I think Aberrant goes above Miscreant in the line up.

I am not sure the Punisher is Aberrant, but Lex Luthor would be. I would put the Punisher in the Anarchist alignment at worst and the Unprincipled at best. If he has betrayed his friends on a regular basis then the former. If not, then the later. I am not as familiar with him as others.

Re: Character Development
It comes before Aberrant because it is the next step from Selfish to Evil.  Principled and Scrupulous are Good.  Unprincipled and Anarchistbare Selfish.  Evil has three shades of darkness.

Re: Character Development
I love alignments :)  Nice Chart Bobcat! I wanted to go DC really I did, but............

 OMG I just had an idea.  What if Metropolis and Gotham were cities created after world war three.

  In this game you may encounter The Hulk, Iron Man, Spider Man, Deadpool, gambit and the Ninja Turtles.  Captain America, Black Widow, Hawk Eye, Black Panther, and most of the Marvel heroes were killed in the blast.  Basically anyone in the area who was not immune to nukes died.

  The Hulk was in South America, Iron Man just happened to take a vacation (During World War III) to Paris

 Spiderman was in New York when the sky went red, but he is radioactive of course.  He was swinging around and decided to go for a swim when the bombs hit.

 Xavier's school for the gifted had been completely destroyed, killing Beast, Storm, Kitty and Bobby. Mystic's wearabouts is unknown as usual. Magneto is thought to be alive and in charge of of the Brother hood of mutants.

 We're like the next generation of super heroes (Or vilians)

Villains, did you suggest we could be villains?

Would totally make a different character if we were playing villains :-), well maybe.

Not sure how those superheroes would get translated over.

Re: Character Development
Agreed. Liked the original concept.

If you want to do some 1:1 fights, like What-If type of comics, with established Marvel/DC types, that is fine with me. Hulk is relatively easy to send over, same with Batman. However, Superman, Wonderwoman, Martian, etc would be a lot harder.

Hulk, Superman, Abomination, Doomsday, Bizzaro, you're looking at Mega-heores.

Yeah, I'm not too fond of mega-heroes. Their stories feel like most CRPG's, grinding away in hopes of getting that little thrill from watching the level number go from three to four.

Harbinger:
Hulk, Superman, Abomination, Doomsday, Bizzaro, you're looking at Mega-heores.

Hulk has alternate physical structure: gamma-ray physiology (or monstrous form), supernatural strength, and some power that is like growth, but doesn't change size as he gets mad just adds SDC and Strength per time increment he is not successful.

Abomination is just Monstrous Form and Supernatural Strength.

Doomsday has Invulnerable, Supernatural Strength, and bony protrusions that make him hit harder, more SDC, and anybody who hits him takes damage.

Bizzaro, the yellow light greenlantern like guy, just has Force-Projections and such.

Superman is a Mega-hero, Achilles heel Krytonite.
Martian Man-Hunter is a Mega-Hero, Achilles heel fire.
Wonderwoman is an Immortal demi-god style Mega-hero (Powers Unlimited #2), but as of yet I can't figure out what her modern Achilles heel would be. Her old one was being 'bound' by a man would cancel all of her mystically bestowed powers.

Re: Character Development
As for power level, I think Hulk would probably fall into mega-hero status; in crossovers when he fights superman they are well matched, further he beats the hell out of Thor every time they fight, and Thor is clearly mega-hero class (like wonder woman).

Batman, for his part, would be much like Rapier without the radiation immunity, only with all 4 of the Hardware classifications, maximum funds (plus some more, and another layer of more on top) plus layer Physical Training on top (and maybe Ancient Master too, you know, for good measure). He would be achievable, in the long run, for our characters, maybe; maybe 2 against him eventually would be a fair fight, unless he gets his plot armor.

Spider-Man would be roughly our power level, I think, but with lots of plot armor. ;)

Iron Man would probably be Robotics, plus hardware, plus, possibly, extraordinary IQ, plus another several budgets (the highest budget that I know of for anyone is 14 million... Stark has at least 10 times that that he can just throw randomly at superhero stuff without even sweating it). He would also be somewhat in line with our characters, not leaps and bounds above... just a bit above. Probably eventually we could 1 v 1 him and have it be a good fight.

Re: Character Development
Hulk, Superman, Thor, Hercules, Darkseid, Doomsday, Thanos, and their ilk are not truly achievable by Palladium rules.  That was intentional.  Even Megas can not truly match them.  You have to seriously house rule it to create them.  Ironman's armory is as strong as it is because of a forcefield strengthening it.

Re: Character Development
Bizarro is reverse Superman. Sinestro wears the yellow ring.
You know, it's possible to make a pseudo-Superman without the mega-hero thing:
Alien
Step 1: whatever attributes work
Step 2: 01-20 Human-like: Can easily pass for being human
Step 3: 06-14 High Gravity: The gravitational force of the alien's homeworld was considerably greater than Earth's. That gave the alien greater mass and physical endurance, but he is much faster and lighter on our planet than on his homeworld.
Height: 5 feet plus ID6 inches (1.5 to 1.7 m).
S.D.C. Bonus: 3D4xlO
Other Bonuses: +2D4 to the P.S. and increase speed attribute by three times. +1 on initiative.
Step 4: 01-10 Alien Mutant (has Super Abilities): Design as usual,
including rolls on the Unusual Characteristics Table in the Mutant
section and random determination of Super Abilities (see that
section for tables).
41-60 Genetic aberration. Mutant gene structure (a million in
one chance of fate) is responsible for the mutation and powers
40-43 Ambidextrous: These characters can use the right and
left hands with equal skill and dexterity. Bonuses: Adds one addi-
tional attack per melee, +I to parry, +5 to climbing skill, +5% to
escape artist, pick locks, mechanical and electrical repair skills.
91-00 Unstable Powers! This mutant's powers are unpredictable and constantly change! At level one, the mutant selects one Major Super Ability (Invulnerability) and two Minor Super Abilities (Superhuman Strength and Supervision: X-ray). Then roll on the Unstable Powers Table.
21-40 Grows in power with experience and age. Gets a
new power at levels 3, 6, 10, and 15. Roll percentile dice: 01-70
means one new Minor ability surfaces 71-00 means one Major
ability appears.
levelnew power
3Sonic Flight
6Energy Expulsion : Light
10Supernatural Strength

Sure, it takes ten levels and he doesn't have his Achille's Heel, but he's pretty close to Superman without using the Mega-Hero thing.

 Well I was just saying it's possible to encounter them.  Not that you will. All depends on your actions.

 I've started the Game for Rapier, Impact, and Vektor just because they are military.  Escaped military peeps, mutants and experiments will h ave to wait till tomorrow ;) cause I'm going to bed.  Rapier, Impact and Vektor are in group 5 :)
