OOC: Feedback

As I am new to PbP, I thought I would leave a thread open for feedback.  If there are thing you like or don;t like, feel free to discuss them here so I can learn form this.  If you don't want it public, please feel free to PM me.

Third person posts are pretty standard around here.  I feel they tend to flow better, but this may be to me getting used to the format.  I understand that first, and second person descriptions are how we play around a table, and that describing things in third person around a table tends to come off pompous, and arrogant, but with my posts being in third person, and the STs in second, it tends to read funny.

I would rather we decide on which person pronouns we used, and I would prefer third person for posting in character.

In reply to The Marquis des Perdus (msg # 2):

So I have been trying to do it based on context.  Introduction threads are like the prologue, and are one on one, so all of them are first person from my perspective.  PMs where I am speaking to you as ST will be first person.  PMs from npcs to you will also likely be first person. The reason is that none of these are part of the overall storyline.  They are either conversations between me and you, or the are meant to simulate a conversation with an NPC.  Except for introduction threads, PMs from NPCs will always be in the context of a phone call, email, etc.  Some type personal communication. So it makes sense for them to be in the first person.

Threads that are not in PMs, (even when they are restricted to private groups) will be in third person, as that is me describing the story, and the npc actions.  However, NPC dialog will refer to the person they are talking to in the second person, as it makes sense for them.

That is how I was trying to manage it.

As for players, I don't have a preference.  Some people are really good at describing scenes seeing this more as a story.  Some would rather look at it as a game and generalize what they are doing.  In thus cases I will try to take that into account in my descriptions.  If you guys all want to set a standard though, I don't have an issue with it.

To bring this back up, I notice that I am having a lot of trouble keeping the text in the third person.  I am mostly a Tabletop GM and I am used to talking to my players, when describing scenes, etc.  I keep finding myself typing things like "You notice" and then having to go back and change that and it is not as comfortable for me.  I feel like I am not rally getting across what I want, so you will probably see me switch to 2nd person.  It feels more comfortable and puts me in the mindset of this being a game, instead of me narrating a story.  That prevents me from taking player agency away by accidently describing what players do.
Sorry if that might confuse some of you.  I don't mind how you describe you actions.  First person, third person.  The important thing is to have fun.
