The Lamplight

Bourbon street is blocked off each night as sunset, and the streets are open for people to walk in, which is needed considering he amount of tourists the city draws even in late fall.  One of the buildings on the street is a large white building with a neon sign that resemble the streetlight that can be found on the corners, with a neon woman dancing against it.  The front door is open, though the way the place is designed, a person outside can not see inside the building.  A large man stands outside the door smoking a cigarette.
From the open door you can smell the tobacco and the sweeter smells of other smokeables.  Music, varying in genre can be heard even outside on the street.  There is a group of men and even a few woman standing around outside, by the door.

The Lamplight is a favorite hangout of Kindred in the city.  It is owned by Dalia, and she even performs here from time to time.  The dancers are not the kind you will find in most of the dives in the area. Nor is the place a standard strip club.  The large well lit stages, the often live bands, and the mixture of tasteful and more private dancing set the place apart from most other clubs of its kind.  While it is not a place for children, it is also not a place where creepy old men or drunk college kids come to get a cheap thrill. The Lamplight only employs the best dancers, and the most beautiful, be they men or women.  There are private room for dances, meetings and feeding.  Many kindred can be found here, socializing.  It is the main hangout for the toreador clan, and while not a true Elysium, the common patronage of clan enders makes the place as safe as any in the city.

I adjust my tie as I look around for Mary.   If I do not see her I will approach one of the employees.

The club is bustling tonight.  There is a band playing, that Christian thinks he remembers from the Masquerade last night.  The night Haunts if he recalls correctly.  The dangers on stage are dressed provocatively but not scandalous.  The waitresses and waiter are decently covered if scantily.  The place is full of Kine.  Businessmen, college kids, groups of woman out for a night. They all seem to be absorbed in their own little word.  Finally Christian spots Mary.  She sits at a table near the far wall with Jack, the blind trumpet player.  Jack is dressed in a dark seersucker suit, and Mary is very conservatively dressed and looks terribly out of place here.  As if someone left their grandmother behind while they hurried off for a lap dance.

I move through the crowd towards the pair.  I bow out of courtesy.  Good evening Marie and Jack, how are you both?

Mary looks at Christian, irritated at the name slip.  "You are Lawrence's new man aren't you.  Please sit.  I'd offer to get you a drink, but your kind have delicate appetites."

"Don't mind her, she's just cranky.  I'm sorry, but I don't remember your name, there were a lot of voices last night that I had not heard before?"
Jack replies, his southern accent slight.  He had one of those gratey voices that his type always seems to have.  "Mary, be nice to the boy, It won't kill you."

"Are you sure it won't?  Sit down boy, I'm too old to be staring up at you.  At least it's good to see your acquaintance's bad manner hasn't extended to you."
