Holy Name of Jesus Church

When Jean and Suel arrive the church looks pretty abandoned with an empty parking lot.  There are very few people walking the streets here, as you are off the track from most of the tourist traps.  They both notice that a side door seems to be open and there is a dust pan under it stopping it from closing.

“Want to climb it and pretend we’re gargoyles?  If we do, we must take care not to be seen.”

Even a 150 year-old vampire could still have some fun.

"Um, unless they already have gargoyles, we would be rather obvious, this place is not Notre Dame." Jean said, having seen it many centuries ago, and a different life. Looking over the place, he started comparing the church to the cathedral he has seen as a child, pointing out the differences between the two.

"However, I would not mind climbing up to see what target might help sate my thirst." he said.

With a grin, Suel starts to climb.  He’s looking forward to fresh air and a view.

It’s enough to make him wish he had wings.

In reply to Suel Cummins (msg # 4):

The church was built in 1886, which I believe is after Jean went into Torpor.

The building's architecture does have plenty of grips and handholds, though climbing the thing without equipment is difficult, considering how tall the building is.

Please make two rolls.  Str + athletics, to climb.  Wit + Stealth to stay hidden, as physically you shouldn't have issue hiding, but you need to know the best way to hide while climbing.

Suel can easily make the climb up, his supernatural strength allowing him to use handhold a regular mortal would have difficult with, however, he hears a cry from down on the street.  A person walking by seems to have noticed that something was on the building.
Activating Obfuscate will allow you to blend into the shadows of the architexture if you are quick.

Jean headed up along the side of the church, like it was something that he had done before, many years ago. As he climbed, it appeared that he was following the shadows as he made his way upwards as he was hard to locate.

Jean makes it to the lower roof and stand between the two high towers, a shadow amongst other shadows.  then he notices Suel hasn't joined him.  A quick glance around and the other nosferatu can't be sen anywhere.

Holy Name of Jesus Church

In reply to Jean de Griss (msg # 12):

The view is incredible from the top of the church, even from the lower section of the roof.  The night air is cooler up here as if fall has truly hit the city.  They can hear the crickets from the nearby brush and and other dark eddies.  Their sound is mixed in with the sounds of a city though, the occasional car driving the street in front of the church, a distant horn here, and a siren there.  In fact from this height they can even see the flashing lights in the distance of an emergency vehicle making it way up a bust street, the lights of other vehicle moving to make way for it.  The one thing that is very noticeable is the tourist section of the city.  There the lights are bright, with rows of cars looking to find a home while their occupants walk through the crowded tourist traps.  You can even see bourbon street, where the cars are not allowed during sundown, so the pedestrians can roan the street, too many to be confined to just the sidewalks.  The street performers playing dixie music, or drummers playing tribal beats beats while dancers try to entice the vodoun Lao, on behalf of dollar throwing onlookers.
Even on the street away from the visitors, there are still plenty of people out and about, New orleans being the kind of city where people still "went for a stroll."

A couple catches your attention, as they walk under you, starting up as the lighted towers of the church, but not seeing you just below the spire in the darkened space just below.  They stop, holding hand and while the young lady, most would call her plain looking, is peering up at the bells, the young man leans in to give her a kiss, sure that no one is watching them.

"No, let them enjoy life." Jean said, looking down from his perch.  "I will not hold you back but I tend to target those that attack to weak and defenseless, like those with no home to their name. Drug dealers are a prime target along with thugs." he added, searching for a potential meal.

“As you wish.” Ordinarily Suel preferred to prey on those who were alone... but on the other hand, he almost always hunted alone.  But as Jean had other ideas, anyhow, the idea was moot.

This neighborhood is not the kind of neighborhood where you are likely to find the victims you prefer.  A few block away though to the south the hunting would be better for what you are looking for.

Casting his eyes, Jean looked towards the south as he eyes caught a less lit area of town."That looks like a place to start Suel" he said, as he took one last look from the top of the church before heading down to hunt.

Climbing down the walls of the church are much easier than climbing up and knowing where the shadows are helps the pair easily stay hidden.  They exit in the back of the church, on the grounds.

Suel sees movement from the yard by the trees.  A man is walking towards the two slowly.  You are both sure you did not see him as you were climbing down.  As he walks closer, you see the moonlight glint off of something shiny in his hand.  A sword.  He is dressed in a grey sweatshirt, hood pulled up over his head, unusual for the still warm weather.  He has dark athletic pants, and black sneakers.  His face is hidden by the hood.  He makes no sound, but walks towards you with intent.

Jean cocked an eyebrow as the figure approached. "It has been a while but if you wish to fight with swords, I will need to borrow one." he said.

Seeing that the foe was not interested in talking, Jean showed the hooded figure that he was not going to be an easy target. "Yours will work." he said as he quickly showed his fighting experience.

Not sure, maybe with that number of successes, I just took the sword from him.
