The Great Rock - 10/14

In reply to Joe Dumestre (msg # 4):

As Joe joins Uncle Larell and Angel, a roar of motorcycle engines announces the arrival of some more people.  Two motorcycles pull into the parking lot, with of of the bikes holding two riders. One of the rider a large dark skinned man of about 40, leads the group to the Great Rock.  His hair is long and in dreadlocks and he wears an leather jacket over a bare chest with jeans.  He is covered in tattoos.  They are not your normal biker tattoos though, instead there are many small symbols tattooed over his chest.  Coming off the same bike is a woman, also dark skinned but younger with hair cropped short.  She is also surprisingly bare chested, only her open jacket covering her breasts.  She is tattooed as well in the same way.  The last two are a younger couple.  The man removes his helmet and places is on the bike.  He is in his twenties, with dark hair and pale skin.  He is wearing glasses that wrap around his head with a band.  He is dressed in a sweat shirt and jeans, and the last a woman, blonde and about 20, thin as a rail, wearing a tanktop and jean shorts.  Neither of these two have tattoos.  None of them have the telltale patches of a gang, or the usual affectation you see on bikers.
The four move over to the other.  Jessie get up and hugs the dark skinned man, rubbing her eyes dry.  He nods and steps back with the rest of the his crew, standing respectfully to the opposite side of the gangrel.
Joe can feel Uncle LArell tense when they arrive, and angel actually makes a weird growling sound in her throat.  If any of them heard it, they make no sign.

A few moment later, the group realizes there is a nosferatu among them.  He is simply standing there a little away from the gangrel.  No one heard him arrive or saw him step into the circle.  one moment, he wasn't there, and now he is.  Jessie looks at him and nods, and he returns the nod.

"I met Davon when I was 22, and working my first real job after college.  I was down by the bayou, collecting samples from mosquito traps.  I had taken an uber and not really thought anything of it.  The guy was going to wait as long as he didn't get another call, and if he did he would come back and get me after.  It wasn't too surprising when I heard him come over.  I knew I had been taking a while, but I had found some.. well it doesn't matter.  I was going to tell him that he could leave, and I would call someone else when I was ready, but when he grabbed me, I knew he wasn't just there to give me a ride.  There was no one else around.  He had his hand over my mouth btu even if he didn't we were too far from anywhere for anyone to hear me scream.  I remember biting down on his hand and tasking his blood and getting punched in the back of the head.  When he realized I wasn't just going to let him fuck me, he turned violent and tried to make sure I couldn't tell anyone about this.   He hit me so many time, he tried to drown me in the water, but I fought and fought and finally was able to bang his head against a rock.  Then I did it again and probably a few more times after that. I crawled out and drove myself to the hospital.  The police never found his body.  PRobably a croc they said. "

"I didn't know it at the time, but Davon watched the whole thing.  I was mad at him for a long time, because he didn't do anything to help me, but after some while I understood why.  There were two reasons.  The first it that I as human.  Just human.  Davon was a great person, but he was a predator like us all.  When there are two chickens fighting, you don't really care who wins.  The second reason is that he knew Gangrel needed to be strong.  He had decided that if I made it out of there that he would choose me as his progeny."

"It's a tradition that gangel leave their fledgling on their own after they turn them, to see if they can survive.  I had already been through that though and Davon introduced himself to me, got to know me and then embraced me.  It was my choice.  That attack shook me to my bones, thought I didn't know.  No matter how strong everyone told me I was for getting out of it, I knew deep inside I was terrified of it happening again.  DAvon gave me the means to make sure I was never a victim again.  He was like an uncle to me.  I have to say that cause if I say father, he's rise up right here and rip my throat out for calling him old.  He taught me all i needed to know about being a lick.  He did great thing and he protected us all, not just the gangrel, but all of us kindred.  The world just got a lot scarier with him gone."

She steps back giving other a chance to speak if they want.

The Great Rock - 10/14

Lexi stood with her hands in her pockets, some way between the gangrel and the brujah. Her face looked serious, her eyes hidden behind a fringe of blonde hair that drifted idly in the winds along the shore. Her eyes did not move for a moment from the body, only when the nosferatu appeared did she look up, frowning - no small amount of anger visible in the way she looked, mixed with sadness.

She was quiet, listening to Jessie speak, giving her a sympathetic look as she stepped back. Lexi looked around, sighed deeply, and stepped forward.

"I didn't know him long. I didn't have to. He was kind to me when few others were. I was just an out-of-towner, and he didn't look down his nose at me, no matter what I was, or hesitate to extend his hand to me in friendship and that's all that needs to be said," she said, simply, shaking her head, "Hope you're in a better place, friend. We shall carry on your memory here."

She stepped back and looked out towards the sea, silent and deep in thought.

In reply to Lexi Thompson (msg # 6):

Joe continued to look on quietly, impressed by the number of vampires who had come together peacefully for the occasion.

While standing with the other Brujah, Joe made a point of looking around, both keeping an eye on the other vampires and looking for any additional attacks from the mystery men.

George Steps up towards DAvon's body, which is lying on the sand.  "There are some words my people say at times like this.
I give you this one thought to keep, I am with you still, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on snow,
I am the starlight on ripened grain, I am the gentile autumn rain.
When you awaken in the night's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet bats in circled flight. I am the soft start that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone, I am with you still until each Dawn."

The large biker steps forward.
"spirit of the wolf, today we lose a brother.  Though he hunted in darkness, he hunted with honor.  Guide him through the Umbra to his final rest where he may once again feel the sunlight shine upon him, if he wishes."

He then suddenly he strips off his clothes, and the other three with him do the same, standing naked in the moonlight.  The bodies change so swiftly, it was as if one second thm were men and women, and then the next there were four large wolves.  They look up to the sky an howl, their cry one of anguish.

Jesse leans down and places her hand on the ground near DAvon's body. "Return to that which made us."
Davon's vody sinks into the earth, passing through the sand as if it were not there, leaving no trace of its passing.  She then turn her back on the spot and walks to the water's edge, and kneels on the sand.  George and Kimmy wait a min or two then they also walk away form the spot.
The wolves take off into the woods at the edge of the beach, blending into the foliage.

Lexi remains for a while, looking out at the sea. She goes past Jesse and stands behind her for a moment - mumbling something quietly under her breath, "We'll get them, Jess. We'll make 'em pay - I'm already on the trail of one who helped, soon we'll have the rest. Promise."

Then, she gives the resting place a last, long and lingering look and heads back towards the parking lot with a somber air around her, her shoulders slumped.

Joe quietly walks back to the parking lot. He has a number of questions to ask at some point in the future, but, for now, he is refocused on finding the people responsible for the situation.

"Sure, Joe - how else am I gonna get around?," she smirked, though there was sadness behind it still, "I just got my footsies, and they're not taking me too far. Just give me a moment."

She gestured to Kimmy to walk aside, to talk privately.  she said once they were a bit apart from the others.

"You're right on that," Lexi nodded, "See you around."

She paused for a few moments and added something quietly,

Then she quickly moved back to Joe's car, taking a seat inside on the passenger's side, appearing to be in thoughts, still, but looked to him and tried to offer a smile, "'sup? You hear anything good yet?"

Joe paused and looked off into the distance. Quietly, he said, "I didn't know we could all get together like that without the Prince to keep everyone from killing each other. I'm really happy - well, I suppose that isn't the right word..., but it is good to know that we can stand together when we have to."

He then added, "No news yet. I did talk to a detective Christian hired. He's going to look into some leads."

Joe then started up the car and headed back to the Dungeon.

"Well... some people have their heads screwed on right, you know? Gangrel, Brujah, uh... some others," she shrugged, tilting her head back onto the head-rest, "We're just all together in a big, big mess - best stick together, that's what I always say."

"That's good at least," she said, slowly running a hand through her hair to make it manageable after the sea wind seems to have blown it out of a carefully crafted mess into just a mess. She glanced around and lowered her voice,

"Now, don't mind if I psyche myself up a little for more adventure," she said, tapping her foot lightly as she pulled up an earphone from her pocket, put it to her ear, and began to fiddle with her phone, until the familiar strains of 'Comanche' could be heard.
