Black Rose Ink

Black Rose ink is a tiny hole in the wall shop in the french quarter.  It is a small white building, two story high.  It is off the main row, so it doesn't get the same foot traffic that other places on bourbon street get, but its reputation is such that it always has people in it.  The door has a hand drawn black rose, and the window has a neon sign that says simply "Tattoos".  Leaning in the window is a poster board with several drawings taped on it, sample of artwork.  The skill of the artist is readily apparent, as the works are incredible.  The haphazard way that they are taped up on display shows that this quality in now unusual, but standard enough he isn't worried that the full color drawing are damaged.   A small sign lists the hours as "night time appointments only".

Christian fixes his suit.  Marcel, come along with me.

He enters the shop or looks in to see if it open.

The door opens, easily, and there is a small room with chairs all around the walls facing the center.  On a table is a thick binder.  The walls are covered wit art work.  Drawing and picture of actual tattoos that the artist has done.  "I'll be out in a minute" you hear from the only door in the room.  Marcel walk around looking at the artwork.

"I don't understand why anyone would do this to themselves?  I mean I can see putting your unit number on your skin, somehting like that you keep forever, but these other things.  Is that Snoopy?"

Stoic he looks at the magnificent artwork.   He shrugs We are too set in our Victorian ways to understand it completely.    For some it is a test of strength of meaning, others a way to display their inner selves.

Marcel looks at another picture. "I have seen people inner selves.  They don't look anything like these drawings.  There is usually more blood and organs. "

FNick walks out form the other room a young lady with him.  The shine from some type of liquid smeared on the back of her neck a sign that she is a recent customer.  "OMG, I love it.  My dad is gonna flip, but fuck it.  Thank you."  She puts her arms around him and kisses him deeply, seemingly unaware that there is anyone else in the room.  Nick disengages after just a moment, and smiles, and shows her to the door.  He then turns to Christian and Marcel.

Looking the both of them up an down, he turns on Christian.  "Let me guess, a celtic cross on your chest?  Fucking posers today, all they want is the latest fad."  He raises his voice "Do I look like the kind of person who likes writing "love" in Kanji on someone's ass?  What the fuck is that."  He picks up one of the portfolio books and slams it into the wall, some of its plastic holders ripping out.  "How can you waste such perfectly good canvas!"  he turns toward Christian again.  "You still here?  I'm sorry I'm in a bit of a mood today.  I don't do cartoon characters."

Deadpan face Christian looks over to Nick.  Bit of a rebel,  heh?   I like that. This shouldn't take long, and I was told by Mary you would be able to help me.   I can tell you I would be in your debt if you do.

Nick looks you over, and seems to concentrate for a moment.  He then jerks back a bit.  "Well, what do you know.  Not what I was expecting.  You do look familiar.  You were at the masquerade weren't you?  You're Larry's friend?"

He nods.   He smiles at Larry stiffling a laugh.   Yes I am Lawrence's friend, my name is Christian.  I am new to the city from Houston, lawyer by trade.  Tonight I am hunting down someone.   He has a tattoo, hoping you might gave some insight on it.   It is a common tattoo, but maybe you can provide more detail.   Is that something you are interested in?

It would be interesting,  matching tattoos Marcel?  He looks at Marcel, who gives him the look of death      No?   I am sorry my friend not this time.    However, I know a few younger folks who might be interested, if you don't mind of course.
