Garibo

Garibo was at first a small port serving a goldmine in the nearby hills, originally dug by dwarves before the rise of Nezrak. After he rose, the dwarves were driven out and the mine lay abandoned; some human adventurers found their way in and for  time there was a rush to mine it, but then the main entrance tunnel collapsed (it is said sabotaged by vengeful dwarves or hostile orcs).

Some folk stayed to search the hill for possible side-entrances and have made modest profits, but the bolder ones turned to raiding the Free Isles (especially Far Isle, it being the nearest), and they have been joined by Barbarian sea-reavers from the north and half-orcs from the hills or the southern cities.

The town itself is mostly made up of ramshackle dwellings cobbled together from the remains of older houses, though the Barbarians have added a few of their traditional log halls. The former Council Hall, still a sturdy stone structure, serves for meetings of the raider chiefs.
A former temple of Maboz has been made the temple of Yervaar, though it rarely sees formal rituals. There is a ragged palisade around the town, and carelessly maintained stone towers flank the harbor.

In the harbor the sleek galleys of the raiders lie beside hulks abandoned in the gold rush days and a few fishing smacks still used by survivors of the original people of the port.

Higher up, the dark mouth of the old mine opens out of one of hills above the town, and the nearby hills are marred by small diggings.
