I. In the Hold

Rebeccah was no fighter, had never even thought of being one, but she couldn't just stand there and do nothing.  She picks up small chunks of wood and throws them at the pirate.  "Take that, you smelly oaf!"

Lam was beginning to anger. He had been torn from his family and now rests in a broken ship on an unknown island. The orc must pay.

Although performing better, the swing did not do as Lam desired. He concentrated and prepared for his next attempt.

The former slaves swing their improvised weapons at their former oppressor.  As drunk as he is, they still find it hard to get any kind of good hit on him.  Though staggering still, the pirate knows how to use his sword.  With an expert slash, Jory goes down.  (-1 hp)

Lam's intent on dispatching the half-orc once again was for naught.

[15:32, Today: Lam Durus rolled 2 using 1d20-1 ((3)).]

The hunk of wood swooshed past the oppressor as Lam grunted disappointment. With the falling of a fellow abductee, would he be next? The farmer's determination increased. Lam grit his teeth as he prepared for another strike.

Hurting more than he ever has, Deniv drags himself to his feet, feeling the piece of the hull pulling free.  He moves to where Jory has fallen and tries to drag his injured friend to safety.

The chaos was increasing. Would the half-orc pirate ever be dispatched? Lam tried to club the foe once again. Unfortunately, the farmer's success was not to be had. What sort of blessing did this fiendish slaver have upon him?

(When going weaponless, declare Pummel, Grapple, or Overbear (tackle.)  The process is significantly different from normal melee.  There are a lot of modifiers involved, so it is easier if I handle it.  If it is important for you to make your own rolls, give me 1d100 to hit and 1d100 for damage.  Just know that your opponent gets an attack on you if he is armed.)

Daniv tries to save the life of Jory, but blood loss and shock prove too much to overcome.

Lam swings several times at the pirate, but even tangled up he is able to parry away anything dangerous.

Tath dives underneath Halfric's swinging sword to tackle him.  The half-orc goes to his knees.  He then slumps over unconscious.

Jory Ranglore lay on the beach as he woke up. He coughed repeatedly, until all water was out of his lungs. Slowly he regained consciousness and became aware of the freezing cold. It was still raining, so he had to get to some place with shelter against the water from above. He stood up and looked around for a cave, a hut or something else to provide shelter. He saw the damaged pirate ship, where he had been imprisoned for so long as a slave. He would go back to the ship, to look for other survivors, especially slaves like him. But first he looked around for some kind of makeshift weapon. After all, there could still be pirates around.

He had been rowing at the oars, when a large wave threw him overboard. He tried to swim to the shore and then he must have passed out. Luckily the sea had thrown him onto the beach and he had regained consciousness.

OOC: perception check to find makeshift weapon?

I. In the Hold

Unable to help his friend, Deniv sits on the deck near the lifeless body.  His shoulders shake in silent sobs as tears stream down his cheeks.  Slowly, he stands up and turns to face where the others have downed the half-orc pirate.
Slowly he walks over, leaning down to pick up the dropped sword.  The blade is chipped with use, but well-maintained and sharp.  He swings it slowly a couple of times, testing its heft before finally taking it in a two-handed, back hand grip.    Je moves to stand over the half-orc's head. With a shout, he drives it down....
The tip of the blade thuds into the wood of the deck next to the pirate's head.  Strip him of everything, even clothes.
He pulls the sword from the wood, dropping it as he walks past.  Shackle him like we were, but both wrists AND ankles.  He grimaces as the pain of his own wound overcomes his flagging anger and grief.  Sinking to his knees, he strips off his shirt and begins to try to tend to his own injury.

I. In the Hold

Einlian wondered how a man at least a year younger than him became the leader of their group. Then again it wasn't as if he was stepping up ad taking charge. So he began stripping the half orc of his belongings. He wasn't sure which of them the armor would fit but at the moment he was more worried about the orc waking up mid way through the process and strangling him to death. The boy worked as quickly as he could. He tossed everything taken from the orc into a pile off to the side before looking around for a pair of shackles one he had finished the first part of the task set to him, " We just gonna leave him bound like this? Cause he'll starve for sure ... or maybe die of thirst first I guess. " He did not care much for the orc but he figured even a quick death would be better than a slow one.

Whether or not he has found a makeshift weapon on the beach,
Jory Ranglore runs to the ship and enters through the large hole at the bow of the ship.
He's shocked by the sight of a dead slave and a weeping Daniv beside him.
He looks better and sees that the dead slave is Jory Longarm, who was from the same island!
Jory utters a soft cry and says: "what a loss! Did he die in a fight against the pirate? Are there more pirates around?"

Jory finds nothing that looks useful until he gets to the ship.  There are pieces of wood that could be used as clubs.

The pirate has a broadsword, studded leather armor, boots for a large man, and a cloak.

Rebeccah was saying a little prayer over Jory when Tath handed her the cloak.  She smiled weakly in return.  "Thank you.  If I wasn't so cold, I would give a polite refusal first before accepting."  In truth, she felt a little guilty for taking it, but it was too cold to refuse.  "What should we do with poor Jory?  He died bravely.  It feels wrong to just leave him."

Jory Ranglore picks up a piece of wood, a makeshift club. "Jory was a man of nature, he wanted to be a druid, he told me. So let his body be taken by the sea again, so that it can be recycled by nature and it becomes part of the cycle of life again. So what I suggest is, let's carry him outside and leave him in the water of the sea.

But then we need to look for shelter. Man, I'm freezing cold, I've been in the sea very long
"
Jory Ranglore takes off his wet shirt and starts to rub his torso and limbs to get some feeling back in them.

Deniv sits quietly, not even acknowledging the new arrival, as he binds his own wound with some of the dirty cloth left over from his deceased friend's shirt.  Stripes, both newly healed and old scars, criss-cross his back.  They are too broad and shallow to be from the pirates' lash.  He looks slowly up at the newcomer.  The man looks vaguely familiar.
Who are you?
