OOC Thread
Hello and well met, everyone!

I see there's a discussion between using the pregen PCs, or making new ones. I'm mostly in favour of using the pregens to start playing sooner, but at the same time there a couple things I'm not that clear about.
  • Njal has a couple "apps" that I couldn't find in the documents that came out, therefor I'm not sure how (or even if) they could influence the game.
  • Amal's assault rifle railgun shows a DV of 2d10+12 and no AP feature, but I'm guessing that's a typo for the standard DV 2d10+2 AP.

I have to admit I'm curious to test out the game's character generation features, but I'd rather first get a hang of the mechanics.

Speaking of pregens, does anyone have favourites? I think I'd like to play Sváfa, but I'm good with any one of the others as well.

PS: I feel like I'm in a Dark Matter game with the temporary character names we have at the moment.

I prefer to play a character I make myself personally.  Pregens are usually to generic for my taste.  That being said I have not seen the pregens for this game so they might be better.  Is there an Octopi Upgrade pregen (because that is the single most wonderful thing about Eclipse Phase).

WAIT!!!!  I don't wanna be ONE!!!   Lol, speaking of scifi shows I just got into Dark Matter (and then binge watched all of it) but The Expanse is just the most amazing thing ever!

I'm down for whatever with characters.  I'm pretty experienced with Eclipse Phase, in general, so it shouldn't be too off.

My knowledge of EP is somewhat theoretical, so I'm happy to work with pregen characters.

Amal piqued my interest more than the others. Is there much the pregen team doesn't cover or can't do together? (and should?)

hey, glad to see you all here.

i'm okay with either, i a little prefer pregens because i'm new to eclipse phase (though i've been flipping through the .pdfs for years now).  that being said, i'm also open to you guys making your own or modding the pregens to suit your interests.

as for characters:
"One" wants to be an octopus uplift named Oob.
"Two" wants to be called Requiem.
"Three" requested Amal.
"Four" requested Svafa.

SO:

One, take a look at the Njal pregen: an anarchist hacker/pilot uplifted raven infomorph?  would it work for you to mod Njal into an uplifted octopus (named Oob)?

Two, are you okay playing as Chi, but renamed Requiem?

Three and Four, still okay with your original requests?

johnny :]

Very much so. With the option to mod pregens on the table, I'll take a look at that too.

I'm looking forward to play Sváfa. I'll take a look at customization possibilities, but I'll probably keep her as she is.

Re: OOC Thread
So, after being unable to d/l one of the books for some stupid reason (presumably the book the pregens are in because I can't find them in the others) I looked at the character creation rules.  They are fairly quick and easy to get the hang of (literally most of the time it took me to put one together was because I was on my laptop that doesn't have a functioning keyboard).

The creation process was actually kind of disappointing to me because of the simplicity, I really liked the crunch of 1st ed.  I was talking to my roommate about it and he said it sounded like they broke the system....lol

I do think that the Dark Matter story line would be an awesome idea for Eclipse Phase though....lol

oh and PS your names are changed now to your respective characters - let me know if any of you change your minds about, well, anything.  and Four, (Oob), take a look at the Quick Start when you can

I finally got it to download correctly. I downloaded them individually and for some reason that one didn`t want to work. None of the pregens are even close to what I want to play though so I wish you all the best with the game :).

Lack of neo-octopus morph, or more than that?

Re: OOC Thread
No, none of them is even remotely interesting in concept to me.  They are bland and generic, their back stories are horrible.  They actually make me less interested in playing the game.  Sorry, I just might be expecting to much from a play test but I want a character that excites me.

Then there's nothing to be said.

If it's actually less than that, though, get creative with the parts you can use. Template background, not a straight-jacket to prevent alteration or coming up with anything further.
