Players' Lounge (OOC Thread)
I've posted the game to my Star Trek group. They are a good group so far, active posters and good roleplayers.

I'm not sure what numbers we want to have but we do know we want active participants. I'll probably be good with 4-6, though willing to go up to 8.

Well I rolled for my "straw". I got a nice middle of the road number.

01:37, Today: Garrion rolled 5 using 1d10 with rolls of 5.  Drawing straws..

I wouldn't mind taking the shortest straw for now to get things rolling. It would be a short jungle adventure in Atlaia, one of the Black Kingdoms.

In reply to Rodriguez (msg # 4):

Cool, it's all yours. How do you guys think we should handle languages, since the adventures will sorta be all over the place?

I'm probably going to run the Pit of Kutallu and some stuff from Jeweled Thrones of the Earth. Are there any of those that you guys have run or played in that you would not want repeated? Beyond that, I may do some conversion adventures. I have not read through any of them any more than a cursory glance.

I think it could be fun to be very strict about the languages but assume that as long as someone in the group understands you things get translated for the rest. Otherwise you can use hand and foot to signal or speak like a cave man.

Eirik/Rodriguez, I think you have your names/roles reversed. I can fix it but wanted to make sure before I did. You do want your character to still be Eirik?

I request we avoid the written adventures. I am playing face to face Conan campaign using them. Beyond that, based on that experience they are long and involved and not really conducive to RPOL. Just my thoughts.

I think we want one common group language. After that, I think language causing issues works.

This seems like a great idea.

Ketei:
I originally had Hyperborian instead of Brythunain, but since we were originating in Brythunia I figured it would be sensible to be a common language.

Ketei smiles sheepishly.

I'm really surprised that no one from the other group is around except us. Also surprised only one person from Star Trek was interested. "Sevek" prefers the fantasy genre so I would have thought he'd be all over it.

If you are into Savage Worlds (or a modern game using proprietary system), I backed this Kickstarter and they are offering pre-orders with additional stretch goal unlocks for those who missed it.

I updated the Game Rules & Setting Information page. Make sure you all are happy with the results or if you can think of anything else that needs added.

Less is more. Better for few steady posters.

In reply to Hand of Fate (msg # 16):

Ok, so I got Sevek and Thiaranest from the Star Trek camp. That gives us six PCs.

I was also thinking about the "GM gets XP" comment. I think it would be nice to actually play our characters as NPCs when we host to keep the immersion for that character within the group. Just have to be careful not to "steal the show" with an NPC character.

Just so I don't go overboard in my introduction, are there any parameters on where we are beginning (I recall Brythunia), city, big town, small hamlet?  Have the players met before?

Re: Players' Lounge (OOC Thread)
For the introductions I think a bigger city in Brythunia works well.
The first adventure will then start right in the jungle with good reasons to roll some dice.

I hope I can get things started today.
