A cube of evil acid juuust big enough to stretch wall-to-wall of most corridors was truly the hallmark of intelligent design in the universe--and possibly malicious design as well.

He mentally added a bow (a big composite one) to his list of things to purchase when he had a day or so to go shopping.

He'd probably need a new sword in a moment too.

Sara spun away from the stairs very quickly and at the sight of the ethereal suit of armor covered in some translucent goo her eyes reddened and she saw rage inspired by fear and in her haste stumbled on several rocks of obsidian laying on the floor and almost dropped her weapon.

Tanien sheathed his rapier and pulled his bow as he moved to take position up behind the remnants of the dwarven statue.

Dorak moved closert ot Tanien, preparing his crossbow and firing, his bolt plunging in to the cube of gelatin like mass stopping in side of it suspended like the armor. The wood began to dissolve that quickly.

Nomerendal instinctively backed up a step while firing his bow just as Dorak had. His arrow also stuck just inside of it and the wood began to dissolve.

Fidget atop Smoke moved into the middle of the three with bows and made a few gestures and uttered a few arcane syllables the others had heard many of times. A ball of pink force struck the edge of the ooze like entity holding a dwarven image within.

Rolf backed around the fountain barking incessantly at the creature.

Arell once again swung his sword slicing through the goo with ease.

The Kobold slave fled down the hall away from the fight and it didnt take long to hear his screech and his life was over in an instant as he ran into something else dangerous.

Kibbo and Jarrdreg however with a glance at each other and down the hall the slave had ran off to, moved back to the far side of the chamber obeying their order to stay put.

The Cube moved to engulf Arell who tried to evade it as he had before, but this time he could not. and he found the gel moving around and over him soon he was bumping into the suit of dwarven armor which was empty. 21:45, Today: DM Dread rolled 9 using 1d20+3.  reflex save for Arell DC 12.

Nom stepped to the side and sent another of his small arrows streaking at the monster,  but the gooey stuff seemed to absorb most of the force...

Well...as ways to die go, this could definitely be worse. Arell thought from his paralysis induced prison, Not sure HOW, mind you, but there had to be something...

It was with those cheery thoughts that Arell tried to struggle his way out of the gelatinous mass to freedom...but he couldn't even struggle.

Rolf barked and danced about at edge of the battlefield, wanting to pull the new bossman free but unsure if he really wanted to stick his nose in the slime.

"Somebody get this bugger off of me!" she yelled and stepped away from the kobold, then attacked the cube savagely but clumsily. She was hoping to end one threat before moving on to the next, but missed the cube badly again.

Dorak charged forward swinging his warhammer, leaping up and across the statue base to get therir. None had seen the Dwarven Cleric move so fast. He stumbled on pieces of the Obsidian Statue and his swing went awry.

Nomerendal , loosed another arrow which stuck in the thing and the wood started smoking as soon as it inbedded itself. Already was gone the shafts fired from before.

Arell stood stock still, the slime inside of his armor, coating every part of his body. His boots Belt and clothing was becoming shoddy looking.

Rolf was running back and forth barking at where Arell was stuck.

Ignoring the Kobold Scout, Sara focused on the creature holding Arell, but Doraks untimely arrival caused her to change the pattern of her swing and it went over the top of the creature.

Tanien also fired an arrow and it stuck into the creature

Fidget heard Sara's cry for help and a ball of force flew from her hands towards the Rogue and knocked him back a few inches when it hit

The Dungeon cleaning Cube's acids slowly went to work on the trapped Paladin 06:46, Today: DM Dread rolled 10 using 2d6.  damage to Arell. Holes appeared in his clothing and boots and belt, his backpack...

"ARELL! HANG ON! WE'LL GET YOU OUT!" Nomerendal was now quite alarmed that his old friend was being consumed by the enormous blob! When the arrows, boots and so on were beginning to melt and dissolve, he began to panic. He quickly fired off another shot in an effort, for whatever little bit he could help, to puncture the goop and, somehow, free his friend.

Dorak slammed his warhammer into the side of the odd creature. a Gelatinous substance spattered out as the creature began to lose more of its consistency.

Fidget targetted the Kobold Scout a second time and he flinched from the pinkish ball of force that struck him.

Nomerendal fired an arrow into the Dungeon cleaning ooze and it expired losing the ability to hold its body together. Arell was dumped on the floor with a clatter as well as the dwarven forged plate armor and enchanted axe.

Sara was prepared to end the existence of the Cube herself and changed her strike at the last minute, her rage empowering her blow. Her Bardiche struck the little kobold knocking his lifeless body into the wall.

Arell lay on the ground body paralyzed but a look of thanks in his eyes.

Tanien turned to the two prisoners and made a motion for them to stay put.

Rolf rand forward and and started jumping around Arell smelling him and wagging his tail.

Well, Arell still couldn't move.  But at least he wasn't suffocating in the cube of slime.

Rolf sniffed at his poor human, licking him every once in a while.

...it wasn't as fun when he didn't put up a fight.

"This is beyond me, Dorak," Sara said as she knelt beside Arell. "Have you seen paralysis like this before? Is he alive? Will he recover?"

She had some modest healing after being invaded by the extra-dimensional spider. But nothing to deal with this.

Dorak shakes his head. "I've no knowledge of that beastie, but I doubt that the paralysis lasts long. I think these things are used to already dead prey. I'll stay with Arell. You help the others go through the cube. I'm thinking that looked like dwarven forged armor and weapons a'floating in that thing." Dorak checks on Arell's condition, then moves to stabilize the bleeding kobold. A live prisoner answers questions better than a dead one, after all.

Tanien stood about 10 feet from the prisoners with his rapier in hand.

"Stay where you are and don't move.  No talking." , he said in common.

He hoped that they would be shaken from the events of late and forget that he was the one who had spoken to them in draconic earlier.

"Arell? You... are you?" Nomerendal rushed over to the slimy mess that was his old friend. He quickly pulled out his waterskin and began rinsing Arell's exposed flesh. "Wake up you old crank! WAKE UP!"

He continued to assist Dorak in helping to revive their danger-prone leader.

A tense 54 seconds later, Arell seems to mostly snap out of it, "I'm fine, Rendal." he says, though with the lingering effects of the paralytic it's more of a slurring "mmmfine..."

He halfheartedly bats the fussing gnome away and sits himself up, only to be pounced on by Rolf who is ecstatic to see him alive.

"So..." he says, holding off his dog for breathing room, "What'd I miss?  Anything useful in the damn cube?"

Before anyone can heal the rogue, Fidget quickly strips him completely, the best way to ensure the thief not have any hidden items.

"Hurrah!" Nom exclaimed when Arell roused once again to the realm of the living. "You old fool! Why aren't you more careful? You don't see me getting all stuck up in overgrown jelly!" The gnome gave his old friend a quick embrace.

"In? Oh! Yes! Let's have a look!" Nomerendal began to check the items left behind when the cube was dispersed, being rather careful in the process.
