Re: Chapter 1: The Road to Morgansfort

Smiles was groggy and finally coming around. She needed a minute to gather what was going on. One minute they were delving through the dungeon and then they were unconscious - at least Smiles was. She groaned at the massive headache she had. Things weren't fun when she was bopped over the head. As a new party of adventurers made their entrance, she looked at the ropes that bound her and tried to break free.

16:31, Today: Smiles rolled 2 using 1d20.  Str Check/Break that rope!

Re: Chapter 1: The Road to Morgansfort

Wyrran assesses the situation, counts friends and foes... and finds the allied side lacking. His dagger will be better utilized in the hands of skilled warriors, or at least a ruthless one. His elven eyes calculate the throw, feinting for the orcs but instead he gently lobs one of his daggers over to Smiles, behind the nasties. It is highly unlikely he just added two more to the enemy side... he hopes.

My apologies, I forgot to put the AC and HP info in here:

Orcs:

AC 14
HP:
Orc 1: 7/7
Orc 2: 5/5
Orc 3: 4/4
Orc 4: 4/4
Orc 5: 3/3

The biggest one (the 7 HP guy) seems to be the de facto leader.

Phelan successfully makes it across the room without the orcs seeing her. Still gagged, she draws her short sword and heads to the nearest orc to strike.

Re: Chapter 1: The Road to Morgansfort

From his kneeling position Glanduil looks up quickly, and with the practiced skills of years of preparation he immediately fiddles his fingers in the intricate symbol of his craft. A crackle of magical energy leaps from his fingers and flies toward the largest orc. The magic engulfs the creature and the sparks race across the orc's body. His muscles seem to seize tight and it takes a moment before he is released from the pain.

The Orc still stands and Glanduil curses in elven under his breath. In disbelief he contemplates the power of the creature to withstand his best move.

19:00, Today: Glanduil Ulazana rolled 5 using 1d6+1.  magic missile attack damage on big orc.

Re: Chapter 1: The Road to Morgansfort

Because of Glanduil's narration, I'm going to assume he hit the lead orc, and assign the attacks for the rest of you randomly.

Veskard puts an arrow into the shoulder of an orc. The creature screams in pain and rage, and charges at the fighter. But his swing goes wide.

Argon barley misses the orc coming at him, then easily blocks the orc's swing with his shield.

The orc leader growls in rage and pain at Glanduil's attack. But his muscles are still twitching as he moves to the attack, and he stumbles and swings wide.

Set on the Orc in front of him Argon stabs over the top of his shield. Again he seems unable to connect and his swipe goes wide.

Re: Chapter 1: The Road to Morgansfort

Glanduil hesitates as the largest orc moves to attack. Sighing in relief at the miss, the Elf moves quickly drawing his long sword and closing the distance. Knowing that he can't stand toe to toe with this monster, he hopes that his magic was enough to weaken the creature and he can finish it off quickly.

With a neat spin, and a feint near the creatures neck, Glanduil drops his hands and slashes across the belly of the great beast. The satisfied smile on the elf's face disappears quickly when his blade harmlessly slides over the orc's armor. The sound of metal on metal rings through the chamber, and Glanduil brings his sword up to parry the strike he knows is coming.

20:22, Today: Glanduil Ulazana rolled 5 using 1d20+3.  Attack on Orc Leader.

06:48, Today: Phelan rolled 15 using 1d20 ((15)) attack

Phelan, short sword in hand, runs to the nearest orc  and bites down hard on her gag as she slashes him from behind. A hit and a grunt of satisfaction as the blade follows through although the wound doesn't seem too deep.

06:54, Today: Phelan rolled 1 using 1d6 ((1)) damage.

10:41, Today: Smiles rolled 1 using 1d20.  Attack check!

As Smiles scrambled up on her feet, she made a mad dash towards her maul - looking at the unfamiliar dagger in disgust before keeping it safe on her personnel. For reasons that held pertinent to her belief, she was still ever so keen on grabbing her trusty maul in the pile. Not bothering to grab her shield in the process. She heaved the maul over the nearest orc and slammed it down - it wasn't really clear where she was aiming that thing.

Wyrran feels the scales tipping!

Bolstered, he shouts "Bring them down one by one!", trying to intimidate the orcs, by simultaneously pointing a finger to the enemy leader and evoking a missile of red force that strikes him down dead. "Concentrate fire and rout them!"
Magic missile at the Leader, who had only 1-2 hp left.

Re: Chapter 1: The Road to Morgansfort

Glanduil doesn't have to parry the blow aimed for his head, because as the orc leader raises his sword, Wyrran sends a bolt of energy into the center of his chest and he tips over backward with a surprised expression on his face.

Phelan stabs an orc in the back, but the creature twists just the right way at the last second and the blow does minimal damage. He roars in pain and fury and swings at her, but the weapon swishes past her as she steps aside.

Argon blocks yet another overhand strike with his shield.

Veskard guts an orc, which falls to its knees before collapsing with a thud.

The orc who survived Smiles' maul doesn't seem happy about it, and swings his sword into her.

The orc attacking Argon yells a phrase in orcish and the creatures begin a fighting retreat, making their way toward the exit to the east.

Pressing his attack Argon again tries to connect with the Orc before him. He stabs across his shield. And yet again his skills seem to have left him and he misses with his attack.

Although pleased with the sound of pain coming from the orc, she is discouraged that she hadn't done more damage to his reeking hide with her first attack. She swings again but the orc's retreat keeps him just out of range. However, the look of fury on her gagged face may be enough to weaken his spirit.

Reeling back from the cut that the orc gave her. She gritted her teeth and swung her maul back at him. Much to her dismay, the blunt weapon had only grazed him - perhaps giving him a rash rather than a dent.

Glanduil turns and smiles, nodding his thanks at Wyrran. Quickly assessing the situation he rushes forward to help Phelan. His sword flashes, but as the creature spasms in pain, his aim goes awry. Cursing in Elvish as he misses his mark Glanduil prepares for what may come.

Re: Chapter 1: The Road to Morgansfort

Fighting defensively, the remaining orcs hold off your attacks for the most part, though Smiles connects.

Veskard swings his sword like the scythe of the Reaper himself and decapitates an orc. The head bounces across the floor as the body falls to the ground with a clanking thud.

The remaining two orcs reach the door in the southeast corner of the room and back through it.
