Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

I’m going to leave the Graveyard thread open for a short time longer, in case there’s any last minute dialogue anyone needs to engage in. Once that’s done, I’ll move us all forward to the next chapter.

In the meantime, there’s the matter of character advancement:

  • Everyone receives one advance for conquering the terrors of Angus. (For the record, Kate’s already had a recent advance, among other things, because she sort of...died.)
  • Everyone needs to make a chip draw sufficient to put five chips in their hand. You are, of course, welcome to discard any chips you don’t want to hang onto and make a fresh draw. Just note what you’re getting rid of in the Fate Chips thread. Please don’t forget that there’s a Legend Chip that is still unclaimed.
  • Everyone should also make sure to draw enough Adventure Cards to have three in their hand. Like chips, you can discard any cards you wish to be rid of at this time, just notate which ones you’re letting go of in the Adventure Cards thread.

As well, I’m handing out the following chips in addition to the five that can be claimed normally:

  • Dr. Wayland gets a blue chip for taking McDaniels off guard by blasting him through a solid object and forcing him onto holy ground (as well as doing an entertaining amount of property damage).
  • Jacinta Castillo also gets a blue for going toe to toe with a demon by herself and puzzling out how the entire posse could put the hurt on McDaniels.
  • Albert Cooper gets an additional red chip for being willing to sacrifice his own Power Points to ensure that his comrades were loaded for bear for the confrontation with the demon.
  • Ranger Lee also receives a red chip for throwing himself into the center of the zombie horde.

Lastly, after giving the matter some thought, I’m going to hold off on transitioning this game over to SWADE. Basically, things have been unfolding rather well here and I’m of the opinion that I shouldn’t try to fix what isn’t broken. Plus, I don’t want to force anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to purchase SWADE to move to something that wouldn’t be familiar. That said, as we move forward, I will probably incorporate some of the changes offered by the new game here, but I’ll be sure to announce them well in advance and provide clear explanations of the new mechanics at play.

Partially for my own benefit, I may try to run a “one shot” with SWADE in the near future, so I (and others) can get acclimated to the new rules. If I do that, I’ll announce it here on the chance that anyone present would like to take part.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Just for everyone’s information...

I’m going to bring the Graveyard thread to close this evening, then open a new thread where the posse will be able to congregate, discuss plans, and be the recipients of some recent news from around Lincoln County. I believe that Kansas Kate will be rejoining the group at that time. If you haven’t completed your advancement, don’t feel rushed to do so. The characters aren’t going to be leaping back into peril immediately, so there’s ample time for you to make your decisions where that’s concerned.

Along with the new thread, over the next couple of days I’ll post the essential information from the books that Castillo preserved from the iglesisa in Angus, as their contents could have an impact on the posse’s decisions going forward.

Sure, but Albert’s seen walking dead many, many times. Most of them he re-kills. Just wondering if he recognizes this for what it is.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Before I start setting up threads to support the posse’s chosen courses of action, I’m afraid I need to ask for a little clarification.

The aims of the group riding to Blazer’s Mill are clear. They’re trying to preserve Roberts from an unjust execution.

Am I correct in understanding that a second group is headed for the Tunstall-McSween Ranch? I’m inferring that the intent is to intercept the Regulators that have remained behind to protect Susan McSween and her property. Do I have that right?

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

So, would there be a possibility of buying/renting horses/wagon/carriage?

If everyone, especially Kate, is going after Roberts then Wayland /would/ go.  Obviously.

I thought there were two missions, which may have been a misinterpretation.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Well, there really are two missions.

One is chasing down the regulators to talk some sense into them. Not sure we need everyone, but no harm in it either. Hopefully this will just be flapping our gums and then finding the fellow that has some useful info.

The other is keeping safe what the regulators have left behind, because it's going to be relatively lightly defended. Might not be a lot of action here. Of course there may be plenty.

Dr. Ezekiel Q. Wayland:

Yes, prior to departing, Dr. Wayland could rent a wagon and horses from Ike Ellis, the owner of the stables on the east end of Lincoln.

Thus far, it seems that most are intent on traveling to Blazer’s Mill. So, I’ll go ahead and open a thread for that group later today. Should someone express a desire to follow Jim French back to the Tunstall-McSween Ranch, I’ll set another thread up accordingly.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

I don't know that this mission dichotomy has taken hold with Lee. He's mainly concerned with Roberts, and doesn't think the Regulators will give up easy. While he hopes conversation can win the day, ultimately he thinks they only will negotiate if we roll deep enough.

I don't think we're splitting up - except maybe for Tamsin? Everyone else is ready to ride and French has all but guaranteed nothing bad will happen while the posse is gone.

To get express Double K's meaning without having to use her mush mouth, she thinks it would be nice to attack Dolan and/or Murphy while also riding to intercept but clearly recognizes such a plan is not tenable.  There's too many of them and too few of us so to speak.

Converging on them in force is her preference.

Never mind about the wagon.  I only asked because I thought someone mentioned needing one.  It doesn't seem like it now.  PLUS, I, for some reason, /just now/ caught the bit about Lee requisitioning a horse for him.  Which is faster and easier.  We'll just do that.

Fandom Uncovered put together a video on the positive impact that playing Dungeons & Dragons has had on some players’ lives, including helping them through some difficult times in their lives. It’s well worth a watch.

As a caveat, the stories are very personal, and some might be upsetting for certain viewers, so just be aware before tuning in.
