Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Same to you! I'd say I had a great holiday but mostly it involved trying to avoid getting into any sort of conversation with my wife's sister-in-law, and was followed by my whole family getting infected with our niece and nephews' plague.

Next year for Christmas they are only getting Emergen-C that I will give them while wearing a HAZMAT suit.

My apologies if I slowed anything down, I ended up in the hospital over the weekend :( Nothing serious thankfully, I’m now just trying to get back up to speed with everything.

Glad to hear you all had good holidays! I did as well.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Is a called shot to the head even a possibility for those of us in melee from the ground?

I figured based on its size standing still, that most likely legs would be the only target, but it occurred to me that if it's struggling and leaning down any, or if the rope tugging on one of its legs pulled it down a bit, that might allow for that kind of a move.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

With it being pulled to one side, I would say that such a strike would be possible.

Alternatively, with the spider shaken and partially restrained, Lee could climb onto its back with a simple Agility roll. At the moment, it wouldn’t be opposed, though if the creature was able to lose its shaken condition and free itself, it could certainly try to throw the lawman off.

In either case, with one of its limbs tied up, I’ll impose a -1 penalty on its Parry.

Bryan Lee:
Quickness is no longer up, and I'm going to let it lapse: need to save some PP for the Owl Witch confrontation.

In light of this, I just wanted to post a reminder:

Andrew Roberts:
” It’s two days to reach High Lonesome. More if the snow’s gotten fierce up there.”

The members of the posse will have the opportunity to rest, heal, and regain Power Points prior to reaching the mountain’s zenith. You won’t be forced to confront the ancient evil right after contending with a gargantuan, tree rending spider. Promise.

Oh, darn. Could I pay the 2 PP keep Quickness up, then - and hold the second action until after everyone else has had a chance to go?

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

As a completely random aside, I just got my hands on the PDF for the SWADE version of Deadlands: Lost Colony. I’m really curious about the setting. I own an electronic copy of the Classic version of Lost Colony, but never have set aside the time to read through it. It seems like an interesting extension of the Deadlands setting, one that I haven’t had the opportunity to try out.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Honestly, I haven't really played much in Deadlands games outside of the Weird West setting - not even Hell on Earth let alone Lost Colony.

I would think for Lost Colony, the SWADE version actually may be best, because Lost Colony was the last and thusly least supported of the Classic products. I imagine they were moving on to Savage Worlds rather than continuing to support Classic at the time.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Yeah, it was the least supported...

But I thought it could/should have been one of the best.

Firefly before Firefly.  Space Western.

There's a novel that...John Goff?...wrote for it called Banshee Screams.  I remember it being really great.

Now that I know the new version is out, I'm going to go seek it out!  Thanks for letting me know!

See ya, Space Cowboy...

...really sells me on the setting. I’m definitely going to have to give it a read sometime soon.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Did you say Space Western? I am and have been a fan of Firefly. Though my gaming experiences in the 'Verse have all been exactly the same - game dies after less than 100 plot-based posts. I've given it a go at least six times now, perhaps more. Crazy thing is that getting into those games are often relatively competitive. And then the players that 'win' the competition mostly fade away after a month.

*sigh*

I hope the Chino gets a chance to dodge, because I just realized that he's still riding the damn thing and Jacinta just shot it with a magic fire bullet.

:D

Given that the thing is the size of a dragon, I'm not too concerned.

Savage Worlds Deluxe doesn't provide a measurement of how big a dragon is, but
implies that it would be bigger than a T-Rex, but smaller than a Blue Whale.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

I’m not going to move forward with any experience awards until after night has come and gone from Capitan Pass. However, everyone should be holding at least five chips, not counting the most recent Chip you drew for the Black Joker. If you don’t have the five, make sure you draw up to your complement. You also have the option of discarding and redrawing any chips you’d care to. Please make sure to report your results in the Fate Chips thread.

Based on the feedback I have, I’m setting the overnight watch as follows. Each shift lasts two hours, beginning at 10 p.m.

  • 10 pm to 12 am: Aileen Kearney
  • 12 am to 2 am: Lena Bauer
  • 2 am to 4 am: Kansas Kate
  • 4 am to 6 am: Shabbakasha

As the primary guide, Andrew Roberts will rest.

The default assumption is that any character not on watch duty will be sound asleep, unless it’s specified to me that they will be doing something during one or more of the watch shifts.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Tamsin will probably be communing with nature bright and early so as to not hold up their travels. So she won’t be on watch, per se, but she’ll be up and around probably starting around the 4 o’clock mark.
