Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)sXq

Hmmmmm... I do have an idea if our Ranger will pause a bit.  I think it's a better idea than trying to hope I roll a big damage result with a magic buwitt.  Though that's coming if this doesn't work.

But I think we're better off giving him once concentrated whammy, right here right now.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)sXq

It's like A Tribe Called Quest, you say the whole thing!

Jokes aside it's simple:

  • Hold your action-
  • Double Kay attempts an Agility Trick and uses her movement to close in armed with the 'pick
  • IF, big if, it works, +1 Gang Up and -2 Parry, could even Wild Attack which would be like +5 to attacks, almost guaranteed raise, possibly two

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)sXq

A question for everyone.

Lately, I’ve been devoting some time to studying Savage Worlds Adventure Edition. I really like the new iteration of the rules and I think that most of the changes that have been made are good ones that were well thought out by the designers. There’s honestly several different potential campaigns I’d like to run with SWADE, if the opportunity presents itself.

But, I would like to have the chance to “test fire” the new rules first. To that end, I was giving serious thought to running one of the one-shot adventures that Pinnacle published for SWADE, a science fiction scenario titled The Moon at the Edge of Oblivion. Published one-shots for Savage Worlds (especially those from third party publishers) have varied widely in quality, but this particular module is a good one, at least in my humble opinion. It offers several cool concepts and provides a lot of room for player creativity with regard to problem solving. Plus, speaking for myself, I haven’t had the chance to run a sci-fi game in quite some time.

So, with that all said, I wanted to inquire if anyone here might like to take part in such a venture, were I to move forward with it. If the idea, or the genre, doesn’t appeal, I completely understand. There’s no pressure to join in on my part, promise. But, if it happens to sound intriguing, please let me know, either with a post here or via PM.

Thanks.

I'd be down, I'm trying to teach myself the SWADE changes for my own purposes.  They aren't revolutionary but they are pretty different in a lot of ways.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)sXq

Not that it matters, but I think technically as long as the source of the second shaken is something that can physically hurt someone, it can cause a wound.  I think the rules even say it's the latter attack that has to be physical, not the first attack.

I think what the rule is intended to prevent is the absurdity of the situation where if someone Taunts you and then someone pulls off a Smarts Trick, you suddenly start bleeding.

You’re correct. I misread. I’ll need a bit of time to revise.

Update: Fixed.

I really appreciate you both being willing to join in. To make a run at it, I’d probably need four players, all told. So, I’m going to shelve the idea, at least for the time being. I might revive it later if I feel ambitious enough to seek out participants in Wanted - Players.

Thanks again for your interest.

I really appreciate that. If I decide to revisit the idea, I promise I’ll keep you in the loop.

On another matter, I was not certain if anyone besides Kansas Kate wanted to post anything in the current in-game thread. If anyone has that intention, let me know and I’ll keep it open. Otherwise, I’ll likely go ahead and close the thread tomorrow.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

I’ll be sure to keep it open so each of you can contribute.

That leads me to another question. With regard to bringing the game to a close, I can do one of two things.

I can set up a final gathering, likely at the Thornton-Curry Saloon, where the cast can interact before parting ways. If anyone has any unfinished business with another character, player controlled or NPC, this would provide them the opportunity to address it.

On the other hand, if the central concern is the greater fate of Lincoln itself, I can write up a denouement that discusses what unfolds within the Rio Bonito Valley in the wake of Murphy’s demise. I could also use that narrative as a bookend, after those players who wanted to wrote a few paragraphs on what became of their individual characters.

I’m completely fine with either option. Just let me know what you’d prefer.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

It's been fantastic, thanks again for this wonderful story! I loved every moment.

Albert did want to raise one more toast at the end, specifically to Siobhan, Ezekiel, Tamsin, and Jacinta who were neither residents nor law dogs.

In addition to the work by our fantastic GM, thanks to all the other players as well. You are all awesome players and made this game incredibly enjoyable.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

There was a time when Hollywood used to make movies where they actually gave a damn about the characters and the story and would add those little denouements for each of them at the very end.

I heard this in my mind:
