Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

I have put together a map of the current situation that will hopefully give everyone a clearer idea of the tactical situation as it stands. It's been added to the game as the Game Map for Group 0. As always, please forgive my crude map making skills. Specifically, in this instance, the writing that my scanner managed to smear. :) An artist I am not.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Couple quick clarifications, as I'm debating between doing my best to kill one or just going for it:

1.  What range are they going to be in for purposes of my shooting at them?  For example if I wait until they get into the gravestones that's Short range with the Schofield, but as drawn they're in medium range (I am counting 1 square as 1 distance unit for conversion purposes).  Debating this because it's a question of do I try to blast one with the shotgun and hopefully actually kill it, or spray and pray.
2.  When they get here next round, will they be in melee and we'd be rolling against their Parry to shoot one?  I believe that's what you intended to say but I have this wonderful habit of not understanding plain words.

Also, is Bryan now in a spot where he can get hit as an innocent bystander?

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

I've updated the map in an effort to further clarify the situation.

Map for Group 0

Kansas Kate:

At this point, they've entered the graveyard, so I would be fine with shooters treating the wolves as being at Short Range.

Kansas Kate:
2.  When they get here next round, will they be in melee and we'd be rolling against their Parry to shoot one?  I believe that's what you intended to say but I have this wonderful habit of not understanding plain words.

Yes. Any surviving wolves that aren't fighting Lee will continue their movement forward, which will put them in melee with the rest of the posse (provided the group stays in the same position). Any shooter targeting a wolf at that range will have to fire against the wolf's parry.

Albert Cooper:
Also, is Bryan now in a spot where he can get hit as an innocent bystander?

Given that there are ample targets to the left and right of him, I wouldn't treat Lee as an innocent bystander unless one of the shooters rolled a critical failure (snake eyes).

If you'll have a player relatively new to the system, then yes. I've watched hundreds of hours of livestreams and do own the books, so I have a good sense of things, but haven't gotten the chance to play.

I mean....'ditto' is often overused, but I've played a very little bit of one game and would enjoy another go at it.

I'd be happy to join whatever you've got if you'll have me.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

If you need someone to round out the party I’d be happy to tag along, but if there are other people you have interested I would say give them precedence. My only experience with D&D is freeform RPs where powers/settings/etc. were restricted to whatever I could find in that manual.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

Thanks very much for everyone's response. For the record, this will be my first time running the system, so most of us will be learning it together. I'd be proud to have each one of you who has expressed interest join in.

By way of explanation, I'm planning to run Dragon Heist, which is an urban centered adventure set in the colorful city of Waterdeep. Waterdeep is a rich setting, and as you might infer, while there will be some dangerous lairs and underground tunnels to explore, that's only one facet of the unfolding tale. The scenario has a real swashbuckling feel to it, and it provides a lot of opportunities for puzzle solving, social interaction, and role playing.

I'm working on putting the game together and expect to have it done in roughly a week to two weeks' time. As soon as it's ready for players, I'll drop a PM to those who were open to coming on board.

Thanks again to everyone for their feedback.

P.S. On an entirely separate note, I would feel like I was remiss in my duties if I didn't point out the Deadlands: The Weird West kickstarter, in case anyone wants to make a pledge before it closes down.

Re: The Thornton-Curry Saloon (OOC Thread)

I'm updating my character sheet after that last battle and want to be sure I know who still has bullets that Albert scribbled on. Last I had written, there were 2 loaded-for-bear with Jacinta, 1 with KK, and 2 that were labeled as TBD (Albert definitely kept and used 1).

Can y'all let me know if you used any of those magic bullets? And verify what you still think you have? Also, I think I may have passed one to an NPC (Bauer?). Please remind me if so and if it was used.
