Just want to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you guys.  We just adopted our first child (a newborn) so that is taking up pretty much all my time at the moment.  Especially since we are not staying at our home right now.  I will still post when possible, but thank you for being patient in the meantime.  This game in particular is difficult to post for from my phone.

In my language 'Jotnar' is the plural form of Jotun/Jotne, however, so I almost thought there were several of them for a second. :P

Yeah, I knew there was a high probability that I would use the word incorrectly when I found it, but I wanted a name for a giant humanoid that was more exotic than "giant." And who knows, maybe there is more than one. ;-)

I realized last night that Bolen is less like a general NPC now and more like a Hireling. (Especially after you guys hired him to catch some fish).  We will treat him as such from here on out.  Here is a link to some information about Hirelings:

On a related note, I was thinking we could keep a list of Hirelings and their current states in the Character Status Thread.  Does anyone know a good way to make a post editable by all of you?  Or barring that, do any of you want to accept the responsibility of keeping track of the Hirelings' statuses?

I'm afraid that we likely can't edit unless you make us Co-GMs. Maybe if you create a Hireling Handler character and then move him between players so we all do shifts taking care of them.

If it's just a question of updating status/hitpoints/etc. I don't mind taking on one.

I think it would be easier if one person kept track of a single hireling. (Future ones can be assigned to other people if desired).  Thanks for volunteering, Ilura.  It doesn't seem like their info will change often, and I will make sure to let you know if it does.

Hirelings really only have three stats.  Loyalty, Cost, and one or more Skills.  No HP or ability scores or anything like that.  It might be handy to list anything else noteworthy too, such as items they have been given to carry, personality quirks, or notes about their history. (For instance, Bolen is a former fisherman turned beggar and has a cursed arm.  He likes to pester Eryn with his stories and has been promised 40 coins for a new boat if he uses it to catch fish for Snarl-maw's people.) I will leave all that up to you though.

Hope you have some fun on your annual leave Marcus.  When the time comes, feel free to PM me some potential future actions you would like Marcus to take while you are gone (based on the story at that time), if you feel so inclined.  Regardless, I will do my best to NPC him appropriately during you brief absence.

On another note, I am home now and can use my desktop computer again!  I am still getting settled in with the new baby though, so my presence might still be a bit spotty.  I will try to get a new IC post up later today or this evening, but no promises.

Don't worry.  The settling-in phase only lasts 20 years or so... ;)

Things have been going pretty great with the baby so far.  But yeah, sleep has been pretty hard to come by sometimes.  On the plus side, when I am sitting up with him is one of the main times I get the chance to make a post or two.  Like right now. ;-)
