I've got some big plans for all these sixes, but I will give Hiran a bit more time to post his action first.

Apparently 6 is a theme.  Since its 3 6's in a row thus 666 does the demon from my spellbook pop out for a visit :).

This is not good for us... but damn if it isn't kinda fun to describe how your own character gets messed up. :)

Re: OOC1:

Agreed.  I do have fun thinking up creative ways to use my GM moves.  And with so many sixes all at once, I had an excuse to really let loose on this one.  Believe it or not though, I actually held back a little bit on everything I was planning to do here too.

I love failing in DW its the random unknown that really brings life to the game I think.

Re: OOC1:

Even when I am a player, I get excited when I roll a 6- because it means things are about to get interesting.  I love surprises.  That is one of my favorite aspects of Dungeon World.  Even as the GM I have no idea where the story is going to go until it goes there.  I didn't know you were going to fight a shadow monster in a cave.  I didn't know you were going to channel the power of a goddess.  And I certainly didn't know you were going to fight a jotun on a ship.  But I love that all of that happened and can't wait to find out what is going to happen next!

Something else I recently found out is really fun to do in Dungeon World is to make hirelings.  I have no idea if you guys even have any interest in hirelings (and don't feel pressured to use them if you don't want to), but I have been having a blast just creating a list of potential applicants.  The requirements are so vague that you can fit just about any sort of character into a hireling slot.  For instance, a hireling with the Minstrel skill could be a rich princeling looking to make a name for himself (cost: Fame and Glory), or an old woman who likes to tell stories of legends past and charm people with her kind presence (cost: Good Accomplished), or even a magically animated banjo that dances and sings songs for the price of a new song to learn (cost: Uncovered Knowledge).  The possibilities are endless.

I have the same sort of enthusiasm for making random creatures we'll probably never see.  But it is still fun to make them anyway.

Re: OOC1:

I tend to make tons of notes about monsters, items, scenarios and minor set pieces. I also roll up characters and NPCs a lot, but I tend to keep them as a name, profession, and a few keywords until they're brought into play (which they seldom are :P). The times I've planned out NPCs in detail the players usually move on before they've done much.

Earlier this year I converted the Borderlands PBTA game's gun generator tables to a Javascript tool but never got to use it because the player group disbanded. :/

I also spend all too much time searching for resources and pilfering ideas from maps and random roll tables. I've got a folder full of One Page Dungeon entries waiting to be run. I've even got a floor plan of Scrooge McDuck's money bin which I hope to drop into a modern or sci-fi setting as some sort of heist mission. ^^

So yeah, I can relate to the excitement of creating things for a game. :)

Re: OOC1:

Yeah I do enjoy the unknown of what is coming up and have had the same experience...I am not one of those who enjoys creating even if its not going to be used I tend to wing things as I go which has its ups and downs but DW is by far the best system for that mentality.

Re: OOC1:

The one thing I stick do is some DM advice I heard from Chris Perkins DM to the celebrities that you should run with whatever sounds cool to you now not save it for the future.  So I tend to just throw out whatever peaks my interest during that day week or month depending on the situation.

The only problem with that advice is that if I followed it, you guys would now be swarmed by about 50 different types of enemies. (Some of which are designed to be majorly difficult to defeat.)  Not only that, but about 50 other people would show up offering for you guys to hire them.  Oh, and magic items would basically be raining from the sky...

All that would be fun, but really difficult to write. :-P

Re: OOC1:

Sword rain sounds painful lol.

I think he refers to theme and if something is really drawing your eye.  Doesn't mean you don't have to stamp out some of your wants but if you really want to run an undead campaign then screw conventional stuff just do it or fold it into your campaign no matter what it may be at the time.

I was hoping to squeeze in another post before dropping off, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm fine with either fate for Jotun. And when everything clears up, Marcus will like to have a word or two with the captain.

Alright, have fun!  I'll just have Marcus hang out in the background a bit more until you are able to return.  I will also keep in mind that you plan on speaking with the captain and try to keep that as a viable option for you.

The Feldon Root Extract is in jugs of green glass, about the size of a gallon of milk.

Hey guys, wanna see who has the Constitution to chug a whole gallon of delicious milk milk substitute? :)

Re: OOC1:

We would all be sleeping right now if it weren't for Marcus showing us to the docks immediately. ;) Of course if we had ignored him the ship would have left without us, so I'll just have to get some shut-eye on that broken bed I guess.

I also blame Hiran for waking the jotun with his magic cry from hell. O_o
