I will be moving forward with the plot tonight, starting with resting.  If there is anything else you need to do or say before then, now would be a good time.  Also, let me know if you want to use the Take Watch move. You will be in the communal bunk area of the damaged ship (if nothing else unexpected happens).

Heh, my dream turned out to be more text than I thought it would be.

With Eryn's newfound practice of magic and participation in the spiritual events that went down the night before, she's beginning to notice the change towards having a spirit-haunted Heirloom. GM: Feel free to introduce the effects of the move whenever, if I don't find an appropriate time to do so myself.

I have removed the spellcasting penalty now that I'm rested, and replaced my bonds as discussed before.

Resolved bonds (got XP for them already):
* I don't trust Hiran's teachings, for his spirit magic is unnerving.
* I worry about the ability of Ilura to survive in the dungeon.

They have been be replaced by:
* I fear that Hiran's condition will only get worse from here, but I will protect him from scornful eyes.
* Ilura misunderstands me about the dangerous allure of magic. I will show her what good it can do.

Prepared spells this morning: Detect Magic, Magic Missile, Telepathy, + the cantrips.

Gear change:
- Threw away old chainmail and left the poison bottles in the cabin for later.
- Got scale armor and a whip.

Could you please tell me the stats of the whip, by the way? I remember choosing stun instead of regular damage, but I couldn't find the exact stats anywhere.

EDIT: I mentioned going into town in the morning, but if some other event comes in the way of that I can erase it here and do it later. Tell me if you prefer that. Eryn will be returning to the ship immediately in any case.

Bonus XP applies before.  I'm not that cruel. ;-) Eryn, did you add your dream XP?  Because that looks like it might tip you over the edge.  We will also do an End of Session in the near future, but not quite yet.

Ilura, you have time to make all 12 ammo if you would like to.  Mark them separately from your other ammo though.  This ammo has Piercing 1.

Going into town was fine.  The stats for the whip are:

1.) Regaining Half Max HP for Making camp so 19 rounded down to 18/2 = +9 hp
    - 1 use of Rations used when making camp

2.) Leveled to level 3.
 - Took advanced move: Logical: When you use strict deduction to analyze your surroundings, you can discern realities with INT instead of WIS.
 - Took 3rd Level Spell Visions through Time

3.)Gained New Spell: Visions through time
    Cantrips: Light, Unseen Servant, Prestidigitation
    Prepared Spells: Magic Missle, Visions through Time

4.) Increased Intelligence to the max of 18(+3)

5.) Bonds:
  1. I owe Marcus a great kindness.  I will repay that debt somehow. - Still ongoing and definitely not resolved

  2. Rirrik is special among the gnolls.  I must figure out why - can I remove this one I assume he's not coming back?

  3. Ilura is hiding something from me I must find out what that is. - I don't know that Ilura and Hiran have spoken enough to really crack into this Hiran's still suspicious of her but we have been so busy adventuring it hasn't come up.

  4. Eryn is woefully misinformed about the world; I will teach them all that I can - This is ongoing and possibly resolved as I have been teaching Eryn as much as I can




OOC: are we doing end of session questions or just the level up and make camp?

Hiran,

No need to use rations, and you should gain an extra +4 HP for sleeping in a sanctified area - that should bring you to full, I think.

Looks good Hiran.  We will do Bonds when we do End of Session, which will happen after the story progresses just a bit more.  At that time you can get rid of your Rirrik bond and add XP for it.

I answered it above.  It applies before.  So if it gives you enough XP to level up, you can level up.

Bumping WIS to 18 for +3

New move: Familiar Prey
When you spout lore about a monster you use WIS instead of INT.

Spells: rotes + Bless, Cure Light Wounds, Magic Weapon, Detect Alignment

Note: Discovered that I don't actually have Sanctify - that was Marcus's spell that I helped him with the first time.  So we can retcon it that he led the spell and I helped, or we can say that Ilura was hallucinating when she saw the silvery light and Hiran loses an HP or two

I'm not going to worry about the Sanctuary spell.  We'll say you tried ritualistically blessing it, even if no magic was involved.  Any bonus that may have manifested were due to a sort of placebo effect.

Oh, right, it's 7+level XP to level up. For some reason I thought it was 9+level. In that case the +1 from the dream will give me just enough to get to level 4, yes. :)

I'll get back to you with my picks for that, then.

Alright, here's level 4 (effective wizard lvl 3):

- Costs 10 XP, so I'll be at zero.
- Increase Charisma by 1 (to 16, changing the modifier to +2).
- New Fighter move: Merciless (when dealing damage, add +1d4 damage).
- New spell: Fireball (Lvl 3).
- Prepared spells: Detect Magic, Magic Missile, Alarm, Telepathy, + cantrips.

Sorry for the absence everyone. I just raised the issue of my lack of time with the GM, and from the look of it, we have 3 options (unless you offer something else).

1. Marcus goes on a pilgrimage to fortify his shaken faith and rejoins when RL permits.
2. Marcus is NPCed/turned into a temporary hireling, and he stays with the party.
3. "A magical mishap makes it so that Marcus disappears from reality, but occasionally shows up to help the group before disappearing again.  Sounds ridiculous, but with a bit of attention I think we could make it work."

I'm personally for 1, then 3 and finally 2.

What say ye kind folks?

I'll try to level up and join the scene wrap up over the weekend.

Do you have a sense of when RL is likely to resume some level of sanity?  We'll miss you and your character, regardless of the option chosen.  Happy to go with whatever works best for you...

Aw, it's always sad when that happens, but I totally understand. Real life has to come first in cases like this. I hope you can get back to us eventually, you've been nice to play with. :)

I would go with a mix of options 1 and 3 - the paladin leaves on his own journey for important stuff, but may occassionally return when our paths cross. To minimize the excuses needed for this to happen, we have the organization he met that may be able to relay the required information to him -- or perhaps they just tell him where to go somewhere and find something without revealing that we will also be there already. :)

Hmm, perhaps we could tie 1 and 2 together.  Marcus could go on a pilgrimage to fortify his faith.  Meanwhile, the main group has an object tied to that faith that is connected with Marcus.  Marcus can activate the item, bringing himself to the group's location, but he can't stay for long unless his faith is strong enough.  Marcus knows his faith is strong enough and that his pilgrimage is over only when he is not sent back again.  It leaves the window open as long as needed, while still being thematic.

Good?  No good?

Also, since we will be down to 3 to 3.5 players, should I try and recruit 1 or two more players?

The proposal works for me.  (Ilura might get a tad paranoid about the strength of her own faith :>)  And I'm fine with seeking additional players.
