Many Meetings!

It is spring, and the Woodmen-Town is waking from Winter. Men and women drag rugs and blankets outside, and beat the winter’s dust out of them. Knee-deep ashes from fires kept burning all season long are cleared from the hearths, and the collection of firewood for next year begins. The town is a safe refuge in a sea of dark and threatening woods, but the slow pace of life among the Woodmen has made our heroes restless. All are keen to find travelling companions and head out into the wider world.

The characters are all on the grassy sward of the Market Green. Above the Green, atop the central hill of Woodmen- town, all can see the richly decorated Great Hall. Inside it, the legendary Lamp of Balthi is kept safe, the greatest treasure of the Woodmen.

On the Market Green the occasional travelling merchant lays out their goods, pig and sheep-herders drive their animals into pens, tradesmen meet to buy materials and sell their wares, and the local gossips gather to trade tales.

Down below, the Dusky River that runs to the east of the town is still swollen with meltwater from the Mountains of Mirkwood. On the couple of jetties that poke out into the river, fisher-folk mend their nets, carve out new log boats, and tar their coracles in readiness for the fishing season to begin.

Woodmen-town stands midway between Rhosgobel and Woodland Hall, so it is where the Woodmen come to trade and talk. The Market Green is a low grassy mound used for both markets and councils of war. Various merchants and traders line the area known as the Market Green. Some selling the fresh catch from the river. To those who sell a variety of talismans, dried mutton, axe heads/ metal goods, and bundles of charcoal for cook fires and staying warm at night. An older woman sits upon a carved stool telling tall tales to a group of young children gathered around her.

You should all have the reason you are here in Woodman-town. So you may shop or explore the Green. Note that all but one of you are strangers here. Dwarfs and elves are uncommon and Hobbits are extremely rare so to see one of these here should pique your interest. We have several people that wish to play Lifstan so he will be along I just have to make a decision. Cheers

Many Meetings!

Snacking on a small fluffy pastry he had purchased from a merchant Lifstan meandered from stall to stall inspecting the goods each merchant had set out for sale. It was good to see so many out and about.
