Re: General OOC Discussion
Has anyone here played the (PBTA adjacent) Blades in the Dark game or Ghost Lines? Is it as overcomplicated as it seems? Some of the fiddly bits like position/effect sound  cool but seem like they would be a pain in practice. Part of me wants to hack it/ distill it down to something more PBTA. Ghost Lines seems to be a good base to begin with (after pulling out the ghost focus).

In reply to Gallant Hound (msg # 101):

I've played Blades in two one shots, but I wouldn't say I know it well enough to make any definitive judgments.  Out of the gate I would say that it has a steeper learning curve than most PbtA related games, yes. But some people who've played it for a bit longer say that the mechanics become intuitive after you kind of grok them. For me, a fiddly game is one that keeps feeling overly complex or micro-managing even after you've sorted what it is trying to do, so to speak. Whether Blades is or not, therefore, is not yet clear to me.

I did like it and the setting is pretty amazing, though.

Hey guys. Just reminding myself that this site gets slow around the holidays. And that this time of year generally sucks.

Well I picked up the Veil and Pigsmoke for Yule! I am super busy IRL right now, but I will be interested in running one or both of those this Spring.

Re: General OOC Discussion
Urban Shadows, Apocalypse World or Derelict Adrift (Tremulus)?  I'm willing to run one of them.

I will prioritize player spaces to people currently running their own game as a thank you to those people.  Four spaces is enough for me.  If there's any interest in one of the 3 games I'll go by popular vote to decide which one is run.

I have the most experience in Apocalypse World,  I'm most enthusiastic (a relative term) about Derelict Adrift but I have pretty set ideas for it so the setting would be less open to collaboration.

I'm completely unfamiliar with Derelict, but the other two both sound snazzy. What's DA?

Re: General OOC Discussion
I'd play in any, though Urban Shadows is what I'm most keen to play, myself.

Or run! I will run something in four to six weeks, once I get out from under a HUGE work project. But it will irresponsible for me now.

Me, I'd be willing to run one of these:
1. Dungeon World
2. Urban Shadows
3. Pigsmoke
4. The Veil, maybe, but this would take longer for me to be ready

I'd like to see this group persist.

Re: General OOC Discussion
DA is an expansion of sorts for Tremulus.  Tremulus is the Powered by the Apocalypse systems answer to Call of Cthulhu.  Derelict adrift takes it out of the the usual 1920's horror and into outer space.  Think the films like Event Horizon, Alien, Pandorum, Sunshine etc.

Re: General OOC Discussion
I think so too.  :)

But I also think I might be the only person who even owns Tremulus on rPol let alone Derelict Adrift so the only way a game ever gets run is if I do it.

In regards to the state of the forum in general:

It might be worth keeping the players wanted ads going as a matter of course.  To keep the player base from stagnating.  If we got an influx it would mean we'd have to be more mercenary in the amount of players we could accept in any particular game but I think that would encourage more games being created.

Might be worth filtering out the players that have become inactive.  Not necessarily removed, but put into an inactive state (changing their tag) to remove clutter from the cast list.  Basically anyone who hasn't posted in a month.

I can try and organise the forum a little better, filter the cast list, remove the inactive threads for games not running, maybe Pin a few.  I don't really want to be the players wanted bumper though.

Re: General OOC Discussion
I'm OK with a little housekeeping as well as keeping the player wanted ad open. it will make for a bit of difficulty with players wanting to join ongoing games regularly and bonds/Hx or whatever having to be reworked. But I think that's worth it to have a vibrant little pita community, myself.

Re: General OOC Discussion
Turns out I couldn't help with the cast list if I wanted to, only the biggest of cheeses can do that.

Pinned two general topics that shouldn't get lost in the shuffle however.

Also archived some threads I believe could be removed.  I'll leave the final decision to the person who created the thread or the game owner.

Re: General OOC Discussion
Doesn't seem there's enough interest for a new game, I suggest the game owner bump the players wanted ad.

I think Johnny is our owner / chief. Not sure. I know I don't have premissions to bump that. Johnny, you got 'em?
