Da Rules

I like to keep games moving briskly while ensuring everyone is contributing, having fun, and supporting their fellow players.  Please keep those ideals in mind regarding game play and the following rules.

0) Be Aware
The unwritten Rule Zero, written down: DM has final word.  While I have every intention of following the game's system and respecting my players' intentions, there will inevitably be times where I will have to pull rank and put my foot down as DM.  When that happens, please understand that it's done with purpose and consideration.  While I am open to discussion and wholly welcome all relevant views when making a decision on a given matter, it will no longer be up for debate once a decision is made.

1) Be Respectful
Showing respect for each other and for the game itself is vital.  We should all assume we're reasonable adults who can hold civil discourse, so there's no reason things should ever spiral into messiness.  Show consideration for each other, respect boundaries, and don't sweat the small stuff.

2) Be Proactive
Posting frequency varies from person to person, though I would like to keep a fairly brisk pace to this game.  Too many games fall apart because of player lag or because everyone goes quiet waiting for someone else to speak up first.  Take initiative!  Be proactive!  Don't be afraid to speak up, especially in the OOC.  This goes double if you are aware of an upcoming situation that may impede your ability to post - let us know ahead of time rather than just vanishing into thin air.

3) Be Receptive
While I do have plenty of DM experience, I'm not perfect.  The same goes for players - we all have plenty we can learn of the system and from each other, so be welcoming of new information.  If you have questions, ideas, or suggestions, don't be afraid to speak up.  On the flip side, be sure to know the difference between constructive criticism and just being critical.

4) Be Prepared
Though I prefer to lean more toward the narrative storytelling aspect of RPGs, the system mechanics are naturally a core component of game play.  It wouldn't be D&D without a bit of number crunching, after all.  While you don't need to know every rule to the last tiny detail, please be sure to learn what your class is capable of thoroughly and be prepared with information when it's needed.  As DM, I'll be able to prompt you on certain matters where necessary, but each person is ultimately responsible for managing their own affairs.
