I expect that once we do city, theme and threat development, people will buy into the city, even if it wasn't their first choice.

My intent right now is to let this discussion go on for a little longer and then call for a vote and see where we stand.  I reserve the right to make the final decision but I absolutely want to make one that is in line with the consensus.

Hey all;

Sorry for being late to the table.   I work graveyards, Saturday to Wednesday and an often exhausted enough that I don't log in.

I'm super-excited to see another DFRPG come up.  Been wanting to play for ages.  Now, with that said, i'm a-gonna go check out the other threads and get myself acquainted with where we're at.  Then you'll probably be hard-pressed to shut me up.

I'm pretty sure we're just waiting on a decision for which city.

Quick roll call.   Who is still with us?

Are we ready to move on to character development and see if that informs our themes, threats, locations, and faces any more?

Pitch your character ideas to the group taking into account our setting (Seattle, post-Skin Game.)

In reply to Game Master (msg # 21):

Yes I am here, but a bit overwhelmed with concepts and themes...

I think that is the way of it.  I know I have had a similar problem when going through this process at the table top.  We just need to go through the process one step at a time and we should get there.

I'm never short of ideas.  But this isn't the Rahne McIntosh show...    So, I'm sitting back and letting others offer ideas and insights...

An interesting read that touches on a lot of the frustrations I see in the Dresden Files city creation phase
link to a message in another game

As a group, we can't be afraid of stepping on each others' toes during this phase.  I'm not going to take offense at hat other folks offer, but I will speak up if I like it or don't like it.

Also, because of the original framing of the Dresden Files books, a lot of folks assume that the adventures need to be mysteries that need to be investigated.

Investigation-roleplays tend to be particularly difficult in a text-based medium.  ( See https://bankuei.wordpress.com/...8/02/investigations/ for a discussion on this).

We aren't obligated to do an investigation!   I think we're awesome so long as we have very driven characters, characters who want something and are proactive about it. Of course, a good incident  that puts us on the "reactive" side is awesome for bringing folks together...

Hey all,

I've had a busy couple of days.  I should be back solidly engaged again.  I will be catching up with couple of days of posts.  Looking forward to getting this stage behind us and moving on to the next.

Warning fellow travelers!  With Christmas and New Years upon us, I may become sporadic in my posting.  But fear not!  I will not abandon you!

It's the nature of the season.   I, myself, will be offline from 19 to 23, as that's when I visit my family for solstice observations.

GM...  It really does look like city-creation conversation has died down.   It looks like we've done more than a lot of other DFRPG games have done.

Sadly, I didn't get sufficient interest in moving forward.  So, I'm not moving forward with my own DFRPG game.
