THE WOODS
"Actually, I was there exactly for the reason that she had stated. I was contacted earlier today... er, that day? And my services as a medical doctor were requested. To sit and observe the other participants and render aid if and when required. For what it is worth, I still aim to do precisely that. Oh, that reminds me..."
Pausing his answer briefly, he retrieves his thermometer and notebook from his bag. Placing the mercury bulb back in his mouth, his voice is slightly garbled as he talks past it,
"So she offered you what, a lost treasure at sea? Please do not misunderstand me and take offence, I appreciate a mercantile attitude. I am merely trying to piece together everything leading up to the now. And how about you sir?", he addressed the gentleman seated on the log, "Forgive me, but I was not told your names before taking my seat at the table at the last minute. Mis...", McKenzie choked back the Miss that he had almost made the mistake of uttering. After seeing her assault upon Loomis, he felt such a mistake might have been deadly. Attempting to cover the slip, he made a brief show of reading his temperature and noting it and the time down in his notebook before continuing,
"Harry stated her name back in the foyer, but I do not yet know yours. Forgive me if I am incorrect, but I assume that unlike myself you were an actual guest to the seance and not the 'hired help' as it were. If that is true, and if there is a pattern, what if anything were you offered to partake in the seance?"
