IC Kapeti: Introduction

Introducing Kāpeti

Location: Somewhere in the highlands near the center of the island Rangi Motu.
Time of day: Late afternoon/evening.

It was supposed to be a simple trip across the island. The road was long, sure, but Kāpeti's ussal crab steed would carry him tirelessly for hours on end, and the last villagers he met had told him this was a safe route mostly devoid of wild Rahi.

For this reason, the tall beings appearing over the hill right in front of the Le-Matoran were unexpected to say the least. Kāpeti was carrying goods to be sold in the next village over when he chanced upon perhaps the most unlucky of encounters: a vortixx bearing the mark of the fearsome Dark Hunters, and a lumbering beast of a skakdi accompanying him.

The pair blocked the road, with the vortixx - already carrying a disk launcher in his hands - stood facing Kāpeti, while the skakdi rudely began rummaging through the goods for trade.

"Well well, how lucky we are," the Dark Hunter. "We were just running low on supplies, so I hope you don't mind us taking yours."

What do you do?

Welcome to the game!

For the record, colored text at the bottom of posts is out-of-character knowledge.

As we discussed via PM, you'll keep your starting items no matter what happens in this scene. Another bit of meta-knowledge: The road continues until it passes by the temple grounds where the other players are currently at. Once the introduction is over, we'll have you meet up and move you to the main IC (in-character) topic.

In reply to Game Master (msg # 1):

(I have disks for my launcher until this is over, right?)
assuming I do, Kapeti launches two powerless kanoka in succession at the vortixx then reloads to take a shot at the skakdi

dice roll (let me know if this is correct)
2d6 (1,1)

IC Kapeti: Introduction

The vortixx turned out to be an experienced warrior, and took a step to the side in time for Kapeti's shot to miss entirely. At such close range, there was no time to turn around before the Dark Hunter had lifted his own launcher to point at the Matoran.

"I suggest you don't try that again," the vortixx threatened.

Meanwhile, the Skakdi grabbed Kapeti's sack of goods for sale and grinned maliciously. "Disks and some other valuables. Perfect," he said with a guttural voice. The spines on his back bristled. "You can keep the crab, it tastes like dirt," he laughed.

You have been robbed (of anything not on your character sheet). What do you do?

Dice roll is correct: 1 die as base and another thanks to your disk launcher skill. For ease of reference you can add the name of your skill(s) to the roll description, and then copy the result from the Dice Roller into the bottom of your post.

We use the highest result, but in this case you had a very unlucky go for your first roll - double 1's. That's a "no, and" result, which means the attempted action fails and something else happens in response.

For this intro scene, I guess that fast-tracks things a bit.

deciding its not worth it to risk getting the goods back, kapeti starts looking around for new things to bring to market. finding nothing of value nearby, he continues on the path hoping there is valuables at the temple he was supposed to pass by originally.

fast tracked a bit indeed. I also should be able to play a bit more starting next week.

IC Kapeti: Introduction

The Dark Hunters were not concerned with some poor Matoran's. When Kapeti decided not to confront them further, they were happy to ignore him completely. Already they were chatting about more important matters: a ship docked somewhere, and a cache of foreign weapons to be sold to the Skadki's tribe in exchange for other goods.

Kapeti kept going west until the sun had crept beneath the horizon and night was upon him. Just as it seemed fruitless to continue in the dark, he finally spotted shimmering light from a structure ahead: the temple grounds.

The road was all downhill from here and easy to traverse.

Arriving at one end of what he could tell was a long valley, the Matoran eventually arrived at a hewed stone wall with a grand stone gate. It was mostly a decorative structure, and beyond its open arch lay the temple grounds.

A handful of Matoran were visibly moving around in the open outdoor space, though the darkness obscured their appearance.

Outside the gates stood a Po-Matoran wearing an ornate copper mask, tending to a single Mahi he had leashed. He raised his arms and waved a greeting at Kapeti.

Sorry for the delay. I had this post almost done and did not get around to actually posting it.

You may start posting in the topic named "IC 2: Treacherous Paths" (direct link to topic). The Po-Matoran is an NPC. The others (2 Ta-, 1 Le-, and 1 Bo-Matoran) are players.
