Stone Horseshoe

In the fields off the main trade road in the Freelands stands a large upright loop of stone with faded markings known as the Stone Horseshoe.
At this landmark a trading post had come under attack by an orcish raiding party.
Lucky for them. Anholt The Firm rallied his mercenary company, the Magnificent Seven, in its defense and drove the attackers off.

His soldiers and camp followers are now gathered to hear his decision on what they will do next.

Stone Horseshoe

It was the 499th Year After Ice Rise.
Anholt The Firm decided to throw in his lot with the locals that used the Stone Horseshoe as a market.
He set his men to digging earthworks around the site so that it would be more defend-able.
Some of the men were sent to accompany the locals as they cut wood for a palisade from the edge of the Darkwood Forest.

Anholt the Firm was involved at every step. Even when unusually strong summer rains poured from the heavens for days.
He was there bolstering his men to hold back the flood waters from engulfing the trading post.

With his leadership the palisade was saved from being breached and their gains were not lost to the raging Rat Run as it swept all else before it.

Anholt's Seneschal and half of his reserve funds were used to reach the ear of Baroness Olivia Hausman where they were able to give a favorable impression.
The Baroness was glad to hear of Anholt's plans to siphon off some of the refugees in Tent Town.
Such turn of events were welcomed and not seen as a threat.

With the firm leadership of Anholt and the improvement of the relationship with their neighbor Aslov, the small holding at Stone Horseshoe stood tall.

Stone Horseshoe

Now that Anholt had established Friendly Relations with Baroness Hausman, and had been impressed by the skill of his seneschal, Graham, he appointed the man on an internal task, to raise morale within the settlement and to attract new people to join them at the Stone Horseshoe Trading Post, whilst his Castellan, Bryce, saw to managing the stocks of food and equipment, and the men.
That left Anholt himself to govern the post.
