Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Tauron eyes slowly open from his nights rest.
As usually he had been sitting up against a tree looking out into nowhere.
He always took care over his mediation or sleep as other called it.
He needed to make sure his spells still worked next morning.

Well that was interesting. he said to himself.
Then looked around to see if other may experence the same thing.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

The following day you find yourselves in the plains riding and enjoying the bright sunshine, the foggy area around the river a distant place now.

The usually talkative mikmek is very quite...
"I saw the dead man before in the river and he chased me off; he said no words to me and I do not understand this."

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Octavia has been quiet and introspective over the ride, a scowl on her face.  She looked off into the distance, as she spoke up, her voice low.  "He was waiting for someone to listen," she growled. "For someone to take up his mission of vengeance."

Did you get the vision of what happened to him this time.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

The river curves away from this hex, leaving only grassy plains.

In the middle of this area you find an area where there are several boulders strewn around on the ground, piled atop one another in a rough cairn.  Within one of these boulders—the tallest one (roughly 30 feet up)—a truly massive sword has been thrust point first.  The sword looks even bigger than the massive zweihander swords used by some barbarian tribes.

Mikmek pipes in...."This is the giant's grave, the sword up top is broken.  This is a nice place to eat or camp."

He waits patiently knowing that his friends are often curious about new sights and sounds.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Stifling a yawn with the back of his hand, the future Swordlord scans the area before they come to the sword and boulders. Looking up at the weapon, he wonders about the warrior that had wielded it. Looking around the area, he mentally notes everything around. This would make a great training ground.

Where on the map are we exactly?

Drezghl makes a wide circle around the grave site on his horse.  He examines things carefully and then rides back to the group.

Drez decides there is actually a large grave here, he finds a couple of hand sized silver coins, likely worth about 10 gold each, or reforged into daggers

Octavia sees the coins Drezghl had found.  "Given time and a forge and anvil, I can shape those into daggers, or perhaps arrowheads.  Who knows what we may find in these lands.  But let us let this dead giant sleep.  One mission from the dead this season is enough for my taste."

"I may come back here to set up a training ground," Filarion muses. "It's nice open ground, there's a river not to far, and this cairn is a nice landmark. Could also be a nice place for a temple to your war god, Octavia".

"True.  You can see very far but it goes both ways on the open plain.  We should keep a low profile." , Drezghl warned.

He tucked the coins into his saddle bag and then found a quiet spot to eat.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

The next days of riding the plains turn out to be both pleasant and peaceful.  As you travel along you know that soon you will go back by the trapdoor spider where crack-jaw and Roddy were last seen.

Mikmek seems very happy about the nearness of his friend.

Octavia slows her horse as they approached the spider.  She looks to Mikmek. "Will the trapdoor spider attack? Should you approach on your own?"

"It should not be ready to assault us as we approach but we should make ourselves known no the less."

Mikmek approaches slowly and calls out to crackjaw in that strange language he calls undercommon.

In short order a mite and a spider appear from under the debris...

The mite chatters away and mikmek interprets
"It sounds like Roddy had another bad turn, but he seems to be recovering nicely now."
