Session 1: A Legend Is Born

Our first session will be pure character development. Each of you please answer the following questions.

1) Please provide a brief physical description.

2) What occurred in your life that led you to become a mercenary?

3) Pick one of the other characters. What debts do they owe you?

4) Now for the character you didn't pick, what debt do you owe them?

5) Develop one enemy (individual/group) that you have made. What happened? What actions are they taking against you?

Otto, ask Flynt one question you'd like answered. Flynt, you can be honest or lie.

Noran, ask Otto one question you'd like answered. Otto, you can be honest or lie.

Flynt, ask Noran one question you'd like answered. Noran, you can be honest or lie.

Session 1: A Legend Is Born

Otto Kashkeen is a male Tanh'aak, a species of bestial humanoids with pale green skin, coarse (if a bit sparse) dark hair/fur, pronounced tusks, and, for males of the species, rigid horns which curl from each side of the head, like those of a ram. Otto himself is especially large for a Tanh'aak; he's well over two metres in height (6'11" or so), and weighs upward of 160 kg (roughly 360 lbs). Additionally, he's let his hair grow down to the middle of his back, and his beard is equally long, reaching the middle of his chest. In battle, he wears light but sturdy unpowered armor (kinda like Boba Fett, but without all of the add-ons), as well as a set of powered goggles that help him aim his shots with his blaster carbine while he's simultaneously wielding his vibro-sword (think Cyclops' visor, with one solid eyepiece instead of separates).

[Pic to come]

Otto was always big for his age, and, early in life, he joined the military; at this time, the Empire's influence had just reached his system, and the planet's government immediately swore fealty to Palpatine. During the Dark Times, before A New Hope, the Tanh'aak sold their goods and services to the Empire, and helped them to conquer many nearby systems (while profiting greatly from acting as the Empire's proxy; because of this treachery and aggression, the Tanh'aak are often viewed with scorn around the Outer Rim). Otto himself, however, never fought under the Imperial banner; once his time in military school was finished, he immediately went into freelance work instead of fighting for the Empire alongside many other of his fellow soldiers. However, he didn't reject the Empire solely out of moral disgust for their goals and ideals and tactics; mostly, he just doesn't like being told what to do, and the Empire doesn't tolerate free spirits for long.

"Yeah, Risk isn't bad... But that scrawny chung-chewer still owes me for what happened to that freighter we boosted on Mormova. Good pilot, though."

"Ironstagg's all right, too, for a droid with human parts attached, or whatever the hell he is. I gotta admit, those metal mitts of his can be pretty useful; the last time we were in Oceantar (a port city in Korra's southern hemisphere), we stopped for a drink... I had a bit too much flash-wine, a game of sabaac went sideways, and a couple of Black & Reds woulda got the jump on me, if Ironstagg hadn't been there... That guy hits hard, and fast - he just can't hold his liquor."

"Enemies? *snort* You don't work all over the Outer Rim, taking on the biggest jobs for the most credits, without making a few enemies. Apparently, Risk is on the bad side of a Hutt... Deemo the Hutt at that. And riding shotgun in the Riskrunner means that I'm on Deemo's radar, too, so Risk and I might have to have a serious talk about that at some point.
Besides the Hutts, there are all sorts of gangers, thugs, and small-time players, but I wouldn't consider any of them 'enemies'... They're more like pests. I gotta admit, though, there's one thing I really, REALLY like, and that's fighting stormtroopers. There's nothing better than throwing two of them at the same time, one in each hand, or cracking open that cheap white armor and making the cowards inside weep with fear."

[OOC: Just a suggestion, maybe Otto's "arch-"nemesis could be an elite stormtrooper, like Phasma from the new movies, with special weapons and armor for taking out an advanced threat like Otto Kashkeen.]

"Hey, Flynt, I gotta ask...
[Question TBD]"

Session 1: A Legend Is Born

Noran Risk is a human of average high and build. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He wear s mask nearly at all times in public which consists of a soft leather shell, a pair red tinted goggles and a built in breath mask. He wears an armor chest piece under a high collared leather jacket and always has a light blaster on his hip.

Risk had lead a fairly normal life as a stormtrooper squad commander. He took orders, then disseminated those orders and then acted on those orders. Then official order 865 came across his desk. The orders were to quell uprising in a neighboring village except all of the villagers were imperial loyalists and none of them were armed. It was senseless murder of women, children, and old men. When he took his concern to his commander and was told “Just follow your orders!” Risk returned to his office destroyed all evidence Order 865 came to him at all, stole a imperial shuttle, and was in the next star system before anyone knew what had happened.

Hiding from the empire in the outer rim Risk started bounty hunting for Deemo the Hutt who was willing to take a chance on the first timer. Life was good hunting for Deemo. Risk had borrowed money to get started and was able to pay him back fairly quickly but as is the way with Hutts debt is cyclical. Soon Risk of over his head
and Deemo was demanding more and more jobs in order to settle those debts. Then came the job that would change Risk’s life forever. Risk would be debt free and all he had to do kill or capture a 12 year old boy. A boy who’s father had been killed before his debts were settled. A boy who would be punished for his fathers sins. Risk took that job with zero intention of completing. He did capture the kid alright but he hid that boy where Deemo would never dare to look for him right in a rival Hutts palace. Risk had heard years later that the boy was still in that palace when Jabba met his fate and often wonder what became of that boy.

Sometime soon after Risk met Otto Risk was recognized by, first a squad of storm troopers, then by a bounty hunter sent by Deemo. To get away from trouble they hopped in Otto’s ship and in the ensuing chase Risk clipped the bounty hunter ship and caused them to crash. The empire satisfied we were down kept flying and while the bounty hunter survived the crash he did not fare so well with his arms being ripped off by Otto. If you ask Risk he doesn’t owe Otto anything. If you ask Otto he might remind Risk that he is responsible for Otto’s ship being blow up.

Session 1: A Legend Is Born

Flynt Ironstagg is one of the last members of the Conclave, a secretive cult of near-humans who revered the merging of flesh with machine. The Conclave perfected a form of "smart matter" which they combined with their own unique near-human physiology to create bionics that could change and adapt according to the needs of the Conclave member. Though they had no passion for conquest, the Conclave still required a martial force to defend their orbital habitat from hostile aliens and space pirates. Flynt was a veteran of this defense force.

Flynt Ironstagg's near-human species was native to Koios-7, a white dwarf located in a cluster of ancient suns known as the Scholar Stars. The most notable physical characteristics that differentiate his species from typical humans is the blue color of their blood, and their unique bionic modifications. Flynt is roughly 6 feet tall, but his height can fluctuate. He usually conceals himself under a tattered cloak, though the clicking and whirring of his bionics are ever present. Flynt was forced into the life of a mercenary after Darth Vader and the Empire destroyed the Conclave's orbital habitat, eradicating his species in the process.

Flynt is now on the lamb, constantly fleeing a former imperial scientist named Shim Sto-bo. Sto-bo is determined to capture Flynt and unlock the secrets of the Conclave's bionic technology, no matter the cost. Shortly after the destruction of his home system, a gang of bounty hunters sent by Sto-bo ambushed Flynt in the Seatopia system. If not for the intervention of Noran Risk, Flynt Ironstagg would have been captured. Flynt joined up with Noran and agreed to rendezvous with his associate, Otto Kashkeen, on the planet of Koora. Soon the the three pariahs formed a mercenary crew with the goal of building their fortune, glory, and notoriety.

Session 1: A Legend Is Born

Instead of asking each other questions, answer these.

Otto, what was the biggest payday you ever made? Where do you have the creds stashed away?

Noran, Who is the one person still in the empire who knows where you are and how to find you? Why don't they turn you in?

Flynt, Who is the one person close to you that survived the fate of Koios-7? Where are they?

Session 1: A Legend Is Born

Juna Case is a fellow commander. She agrees with me about the bad commands we were receiving but acts more rationally then Risk does. Instead of deserting she undermines the empire from with in.

Session 1: A Legend Is Born

Shortly before Otto met up with his current business partners, he was with his previous crew, the Rockspiders, some small-time gangers based exclusively in the nearby Pangua system. He hadn't been working with them for long when he brought them the opportunity to relieve a secret underground gambling den, which he had been casing for a month, of their profits. Otto wasn't thrilled about sharing the score with the Rockspiders, but he needed the manpower, so he went against his gut and worked with them.
After the job was complete, the Rockspiders turned on Otto, not wanting to pay him his share. Four thugs had him cornered; a few seconds later, two were dead (of crushed this or broken that or snapped whatever; it's hard to remember, specifically), and the other two were running for their lives, leaving Otto as the sole beneficiary of the heist. This turned what would have been a moderate share into a hefty solo payday, which he used to finance his relocation to Korra.
Otto's not really one to save money, so he spent most of what he had left, on booze, sabaac, Twi'lek dancing girls, and so on. However, he has a thousand credits or so stashed in his "bug-out" bag, in case he ever needs to leave Korra (or the crew of the Riskrunner) in a similar hurry.

Session 1: A Legend Is Born

Flynt and another Conclave member named Ase Voltsoul assisted each other in fleeing the destruction of their habitat at Koios-7. Understanding that they were both fugitives of the empire, they agreed it would be best if they parted ways. Each one kept their plans secret from the other. This way the could protect each other in the event one of them was captured by the empire.
