OOC: Pinned down?

Warmaster:
Now that you know the route, it's about 45 minutes on foot to get there. Then 45 back. And however much time you want to spend in there.

I updated Konnikov's post to reflect he's Giving the sneaky assault an hour and fifteen to get there, scout it out, and find a likely assualt angle before the truck starts rolling.

I think everybody is waiting for everybody else :-)

My apologies about the secret notice rolls, I wanted to give everyone a chance to share however much they want and/or put their own spin on what they found when telling the others.

If you'd rather discuss the situation OOC, well, this is what this space would be for, too :-)

I'm dumb I don't have any insights into our current predicament from the evidence we've gathered.

If it weren't for the trees in the pic I'd say it was Mars... but the trees make me think it's Mongolia.  Or somewhere equally inhospitable.

And Konnikov just spilled my thoughts on the papers BPO Company found...

Alright, I'll remove all secret tags around the infos, so that everyone can look at what was found.

@Jules: give me a Notice roll if you also want to participate in the search. And a Common Knowledge roll, while you're at it.

Not sure what your plans are here Warmaster, but in case it would disrupt anything undue, I (and thus by extension Konnikov) am not seeing a reason to stick around in camp and play house.  And when (if) they roll out again, he won't be leaving mostly BPO behind and taking all the OSI...  just so you have an idea of where this might be going in his head.

He's of a mind to order the BPO to load up and if there's room for a few OSI at that point, fine, they can come, but he won't shed any tears if there isn't.

So if that's antithetical to the direction you want to head, let me know so I can plot a new course (or someone can put down a good argument real quick).

That's what Jackson is suggesting, too, that everybody continues to move.

Right, I just didn't think we can fit everyone on the one truck.

Correct. Some of you would have to run/walk or lag behind.

So I gather that you all want to continue on - but how?

Konnikov has just ordered BPO to load up on the truck.  OSI is going to have to negotiate for space...

...lag behind.

Which is why I suggested we station people here, instead of having them march on minimal supplies behind, being left behind, with no immediate recourse to catching up.  We have radio, if the other truck is repairable, it could be repaired, if there are locals (which at this point I/Konnikov doubts) they can be traded with, etc.  But the primary mission is catch Kemmler.

We can split forces, and one group march slowly behind (eventually if we have no resupply*, everyone is marching as well).

* Which poses another question, how much fuel was left in our truck?

Re: OOC: Pinned down?

What exactly are our numbers at?

Thinking OSI bodies, BPO bodies, total space on truck under normal circumstances, total space if we are creative.

Re: OOC: Pinned down?

Basically garrison the ruins?  I mean... we might as well, you can't move them fast enough.  Though how much fuel is left in that truck is probably a more important question, if it's only got enough dinosaur juice to go a few hours it's very different from if it can go a couple of days.

Maybe have a fast group and a slow group?

The truck can carry 20 troops comfortably in the back. Maybe twice the amount, if you're cramming in as many as possible.

OSI Troops: 8 men in the British squad (including Julius), 10 in the US squad (including Max)

BPO company: 31 men and women. So in total, you got 49 men. You might be able to put together some sort of cart to attach at the back that could be towed by the truck.

Also: I need to apologize, super busy at work right now, should hopefully ease off a little after the first tax deadline on April 18th.

No worries from me, I've been super-busy at work too and just insanely exhausted the last two weeks.  My insomnia has kicked in hard core.

In the interest of moving this along - do you want to split the group into a slower walking group and one that's on the truck, steaming ahead?
Or do you want to spend some time to fix up the truck that you can fit everyone in there (and probably need to go a bit slower)?

Also: Both trucks have enough fuel between them to almost fill the still-driving truck full, giving you a range of anything between 200 and 300 km (120 to 180 miles).

So...40 men in the back, 4 in the front bench, and 5 hanging off the side or on the rear bumper. Seems like we can make it work?

If not, we could keep a squad-sized group together, say ten or so? They could work on the second truck and/or follow.

I wouldn't do any high speed chases or jumps across a row of Kübelwagen, but yes.

Yes, that should work fine.

Konnikov gave orders to have done this already; msg 87 of Chapter 2 - See You On the Other Side:
"As soon as Serzhant Krayevsky had returned from scouting up the mountain where they'd lost their quarry in the rain the previous day, Kapitan Konnikov had set him a few other men to stripping the broken truck of anything useful, including siphoning fuel into the working vehicle."

So we just need to fix up the truck and roll out, carefully, after Kemmler.
