((There are a few things that are obvious after a search, I'll list that here. With Notice, some more things might be found.))
The search of the fort didn't take long. Just counting the beds in the barracks and in the standalone cabins, the fort seemed to have housed a standard German company, so about 100 men. In a pinch, possibly twice as many could have lived here, but it would have been crammed.
Still, better than sleeping in a foxhole.
Behind the mess hall and kitchen was a small vegetable garden and even a little greenhouse. There were a few plants here that had started sprouting since the start of spring, but most had already wilted, and those that had survived seemed to be clinging on by air humidity alone.
When Lena and Yelena climbed down from the roof and explored the house below it, it seems that those were officer's quarters - low-level officers, though, or maybe high-ranking NCOs? It had three bedrooms and a shared living room. Three small desks lined the walls of the living room.
In one of the drawers of one of the desks, Lena found a photo that's stuck between the drawer and the desktop. On the backside, somebody had written: "Einfacher als Polen!" (Easier than Poland).
Turning it around, she saw:

On the far end of the fort, an area has been cleared to repair vehicles, including a concrete pit to comfortably work under a tank or truck.
Just outside the fort, the road continues down the mountain through the forest. Two motorcycles are lying on their side, the tires slashed, the engines damaged. Somebody wanted to make sure these motorcycles wouldn't be used by anyone.
