2: Cats and Dogs
Old Fish
The old man from the Leaky Dinghy stepped out and walked past. Glancing at Neva Borne, he said "Ship's Cat? It's this way."

"Eh?" Neva quickly looked the man over. he didn't seem the bad sort, but you never knew. "Alright then, thanks." It wasn't often that someone offered to help a changeling and she was rather surprised.

Old Fish
"You seem surprised. I guess so am I. I wouldn't expect a changeling to be the most honest face in a crowd. But everyone else in there was lyin' through their teeth. Probably." As he walked he filled a pipe. The sound of the distant surf carried on his conversation for him. He lit his pipe, puffed twice, and asked "So what was the deal with the tall spotted fellow?"

Re: 2: Cats and Dogs
Neva figured she would probably not trust a person who never lied, but she kept that to herself. Instead she shrugged and told a bit about Arath.

"Umm, he said he's a Giyh-Yankoi and that they're very rare. He's from some weird far-off place. He was the captain of a ship that got destroyed by some beastie and I plucked him and his singing friend from the sea afterwards. Saved him from becoming bug lunch too. So he figures he owes me." Neva smirked. "I figure he does too, come at that, ey?"

Old Fish
"I guess we all have our codes to live by. The place is just ahead."

A familiar susurration filled Neva's mind. It seemed to be coming forth from hiding. No, not hiding, as that would be a sign of weakness. Just a clever concealment. Arath was interesting, but not essential, he was very perceptive, and there were threads everywhere. But this seemed closer, and there was an anticipation.
Old Fish
The old man stopped, and looked at Neva's expression. "You okay?."

"Nothing... nothing, Iyyam just tired, it has been a big day. And my first un on land after tha trip from Sharn. Let's git on with it, eh?"

Neva only barely noticed her tongue was slipping back to the undercity slang she was used to, preoccupied with unbidden thoughts. She needed that bath and moreover, she needed that bed. The journey wearing her out was no joke.

Old Fish
"Oh, aye. Ye've got a voice in yer head, an' it's tellin' you t'get some sleep. I know that voice well. Heard it m'self on many 'ccasion." The old man winked conspiratorially. "There's th' place up ahead. Listen, not sure whether you were dodging those others, but it looks like they're followin' us here." There was no clear deliniation between most of the buildings, time having built up nearly as much as it has torn down. There was a sort of structure ahead, blanketed in deep shadow, and the nooks and crannies of the architecture had things perched upon it. Things with eyes which glowed in light reflected from the Sword, hungry and merciless. Cats, all of them, Neva realized. Behind them, the sailors, likely pirates, were noisily proceeding up the alley; the old man was right, this was the last opportunity to avoid them, if she wished. "All right then, ye'll be fine as long as ye' don' step on any tales. 'M serious about thet. Those cats have been worth a man's life. An' if ye ever want to try fishin' fer real, come up to me store. South market wall, the very top." The man gestured farewell, and left Neva to her thoughts.
The Cats were numerous, aloof observers to the entrance to the hostel. There would be no rats in this vicinity. Nor dogs, likly, either. The structure was woven from thatchings and looked .. almost furry itself. The door was an odd shaped affair that proved no barrier to the felines, who squirmed in and out at will.

Re: 2: Cats and Dogs
A returned friendly but tired wave was her goodbye to the old fisherman. It seemed there were still some decent folk about if you looked hard enough. Her next challenge would be finding a bed and bath. The place certainly was one of the more bizarre Neva had encountered in her life and hailing from Sharn, that was saying something. The cats didn't bother her overly much. The smell would take some getting used to she figured, but anyone who hailed from the undercity had a tough nose (or no sense of smell left).

Dodging the cats with a dextrous gait Neva entered the establishment well ahead of the pirates. The place was likely first come, first serve and she wanted to secure her stay ahead of the others..

"I am Harysh." the shifter said. She made several cats leave the desk and pushed a ledger towards Neva. "Sign, and be welcome."

Re: 2: Cats and Dogs
"Ey. I'm Neva." She awkwardly took the quill and wrote down her name in shaky letters. It had been ages since she had held one of these. Truth be told, she could barely read. It was not a talent she had much need for so far.

One talent she did have was one for gab, which she put to good use.
"Just got off a ship. What's the word around here?"

Harysh
"It's two silvers, room four, up the stairs, mind you don't step on a tail."
The cats moved around Neva's legs, sniffing and rubbing.

Re: 2: Cats and Dogs
Neva gave an affermative grunt, knowing well the ultimate sin of this place. she reached for her coinpouch, that is, the one on public display. A guttersnipe's habits die hard.
"I'll be careful. Do you have a bath?"
