Once upon a time there was the grand alliance of Thaoria. The kingdoms or Vornstein, Aerusha, Torvack, and the people of the tundra. The warriors of the alliance humans, elves, dwarves, and a few other races that lives amongst them fought valiantly against the Pagus, but it was not enough.

Even the alliance's ancestral enemies the orcs tribes, the drow families and the duergar kingdoms came from their homes underground while  the giants and dragons set aside their differences to fight for Thaoria against the invaders.

The alliance had magical might on their side the invaders had technological superiority. While only certain members of the people of Thaoria had magic every soldier among the Pagus had advanced weapons. Their war machines rivaled dragons and giants in their destructive abilities and were far more numerous.

For six years the war raged until a group of heroes whose names are lost snuck aboard and destroyed the main ship of the pagus. This caused an explosion the likes the world had never seen as the starship crashed to the ground. The planet was covered in darkness from the ash cloud and radiation only those that were able to flee underground survived.

After the fall the plague came killing many and changing our ways of life. When the plague was finally halted little more than half our number remained.

Eventually dwarves, duergar and gnomes created  magical suits to help our salvage crews brave the surface for things to help us survive an under dark that couldn't sustain the new influx of inhabitants.

These crews brought back items from our people and the pagus invaders. Our greatest crafters began working to learn this technology and use it to our gain.

In our two thousand years underground we have learned much and the technology mixed with our magic became our salvation. Even as it seemed to drive our settlements apart causing us to lose contact with former allies and make enemies of those that were once our friends. Now the radiation has been cleansed from most the land and we need to not scavenge anymore we must tame this land again and find new homes.

While war waged hot on Thaoria it also raged in the heavens. The conquest hungry.gods of the Pagus invaded the god realms of the pantheon. Many gods were slain, but with the death of their worshippers the invading gods were driven back to their own realms and locked within them with powerful magic.


The remaining gods of Thaoria banded together to try and help their worshippers, but new gods came after the war and disrupted their efforts.
