First you must know that evey tour is 4 years. You start out at 18. So now you are 22 years old. Once you hit 34, you have to make rolls to avoid decteasig your physical stats.

There is extremely limited character advancement after character generation. So, by staying in you get more skills and improvements. Plus you get more mustering-out benefits the longer you stay in. Other services have different survival roll targets, making them harder to survive; so, with those services it's a real push your luck kind of thing.

There is psionics in the game, but the older you get, the worse your psionics power is. So if you wanted to quit and try to find a secret psionics institute, you could do that. It would probably be a 1 on 1 game then though.

First is survival, then commission, if successful then promotion, then skills. For this term you only get 1 advancement roll instead of 2, but you get additional 1s if you get a commission and a promotion; so, you could have 1, 2, or 3 skill rolls this time.

10 for survival so I survived. Then a 7 for commish which means I didnít again. I forgot to add the 1 but itís still only 8 so still no commission, correct?

Iíll roll for skill next.

Cool, Ships Boat is piloting non-interstellar space craft like landing ship's, shuttles, and fighter craft.

Ok, you are now 26 years old. Roll 2d6 to see if you have the option to retreat.

With the ability to pilot a small ship I definitely want to try to acquire one ASAP. Looking over the other two characters we compliment one another pretty well if we can get a ship to travel around on. I'm pretty useless outside of a ship or power armor.

As for a rough biography: Zap was born to an affluent merchant family and was expected to grow into a soft, sedentary merchant like his father. As he got older, his resentment at having his life planned out for him lead him to drop out of school and join the Navy.  While he trained to be a gunner, most of his first enlistment was spent in power lifters carrying cargo, supplies and ammo and performing menial labor in sweat smelling vacc suits. Eventually Zap saw some action and proved to be a more than competent gunner, taking out several enemy ships and rescuing the convoy they were protecting.  His CO recognized his natural skill and sent him to pilot training at the beginning of his second enlistment. It looked like he was on the fast track to commission as Zap's skills as a gunner also translated well to piloting fighters.  Unfortunately his skill as a fighter pilot was matched by his dislike for authority.  After disobeying direct orders once too often, Zap was passed over for commission and instead spent the remainder of his second enlistment piloting shuttles full of drunken sailors returning from liberty ports. Zap knew he was destined for greatness, but knew he would never achieve it under the yoke of Navy discipline. The Navy agreed and he was not recommended for retention.  With a few bucks in his pocket, some new found skills and a love of flying, Zap set off to make his mark and his fortune.

I like it. Any important individuals for your character? Friend or for.

As for remaining character generation, yes, you have two more rolls to make (one for each term of service).

On the first page I sent you, there are two "Mustering Out Tables" at the bottom. One is called benefits, and the other is money. You have two rolls. Pick a table for each of the rolls; you can roll both times on the same table if you wish. There is a three-roll limit on the cash table, but since you only have 2 rolls, you won't hit this limit.

If you get cash, you can go shopping at:
Game's equipment list

I know that I said earlier there are penalties for untrained skills. There are a few exceptions. One of them is combat skills. All adventurers are assumed to have enough combat training to avoid the penalties even though they have skill 0 in a weapon. My point is, don't worry about not having SMG skill if you want to get a submachine gun. (Ho ho ho)

I rolled a 1 and a 5. Low passage and 20k  Iíll buy at least one weapon and since I have vacc suit Iíll probably get some armor where I can take advantage of that. Iíll do that next. What advantage does ďlow passageĒ realistically give me?

As for contacts, letís say I have a buddy back home who went the path I didnít and became a fairly successful merchant. Also a navy buddy who does a little black marketing on the side.  I also have an on again off again fling with a hot chick I met in flight School who went on to become an officer and a hot shot pilot who is way too good for me.

Can I buy combat armor? It says itís military issue only but it could be an older model I get from my black market buddy. If so Iím going all in on that.

Love the back story and people. I will update your character sheet with that info. Unless you want to do it.

As for the combat armor, I'm going to have to say negative on that. It's a good idea, but doesn't quite fit with the situation. Combat armor is like one level below a mech suit. I'm picturing it like Master Chief from Halo. Where are you going to keep it when you are not wearing it, for example. There is no weight given for it (because worn armor doesn't usually count toward carried weight) but there is a max limit of 10kg (20 lbs +/-) on low passage tickets, I'm sure that thing ways more than 20 lbs. Also, while there are looser to more strict laws on gun possession, civilians walking around in battle armor is probably universally outlawed in systems with governments. So if you wore it around, you would be endlessly stopped. So, right now, at this time, combat armor mot available, but keep that idea in your back pocket!

Low passage benifit:
You have one free, blank low passage tickets. You can cash it in for 900Cr if you want money instead.

Low Passage description:
Low  Passageó  Transportation  while  in  cold  sleep  (suspended  animation)  is possible  at  relatively  low  cost  to  the  passenger.  The  passenger  is  placed  in  a  low passage  berth  before  the  ship  takes  off,  and  travels  the  entire  journey  in  a  state  of suspended  animation.  He  does  not  age,  and  requires  very  little  life  support.  Unfortunately,  the  low  passage  system  involves  some  intrinsic  dangers  to  the  passenger, and  he  runs  some  risk  of  not  surviving  the  voyage.  Throw  5+  for  each  passenger, when  he  is  revived  after  the  ship  has  landed.  DMs:  Attending  medic  of  expertise  of 2  or  better,  +1;  low  passenger  with  an  endurance  of  6  or  less,  -1.  Failure  to  achieve the  throw  to  revive  results  in  death  for  the  passenger.  Refunds  or  civil  liability  if  a low  passenger  fails  to  survive  the  trip  are  not  allowed.  Low  passage  costs  Cr1,000 and  includes  a  baggage  allowance  of  10  kilograms.

so What can I have? If I buy cloth armor a shotgun and a blade, will I be able to walk around with something like that or should I stick with more concealable weapons?

So, you can buy pretty much any weapon from the list. On Bron, this world, only military weapons (automatic rifles and higher like laser weapons) are illegal to openly possess. So you'd have to conceal those. Openly carrying a shotgun is OK here. Other planes, not even knives are allowed outside.

You'd probably want something you could conceal also in case you go to one of the worlds that don't allow such weapons. You could get a fold-able stock for your shotgun and keep it hidden under your trench coat, or even get it sawed off. Not sure what that does to the performance. It might increase the DM penalty past short range, but makes it more concealable.

Probably on worlds with more restrict gun laws, you would also have restrictions on wearing armor openly. I just checked, in GA it is illegal to wear bullet proof vest while committing a violent crime. So, I can imagine in a very restrictive society, openly wearing bullet proof armor is outlawed completely.

Does that answer your questions?

yes. I that case, Iíll stick with the above load out and add a body pistol for any time I need a concealed weapon. I should have more than enough for all of that and still have quite a bit left over. Is there anything else, as far as practical equipment you recommend?  If not, Iím just assuming Iím living modestly on my remaining cash while looking for work.

No other recommendations. You'll need different equipment for whatever job you go on, but you can usually get that equipment as needed.

What's crazy is you can live high on the hog (food and board wise) for a year for the same price as a High Passage ticket (10,000Cr).

That reminds me, I need to add the space passage tickets to the equipment list.

S, any ideas on how you want to be inserted into the game? So far, Rolando and Zyg are a more than passing acquaintances if not friends. They are in tough situation. The cops are coming and Orlando's body needs dragging out of there as well as a man that Zyg desperately wants to interrogate.

I jumped in and left a suggestion on the OOC talk while reading over the campaign. We could say I've been on planet for a little while and have a room somewhere close by. I could know Miranda or another PC and the place that I'm staying could be closer than anyone else's.

By the way, I added it all up and my loadout comes to 1280Cr so I still have 18,720Cr left. Since we've established I have a crash pad, I, not sure if that will deduct from my total.
