Re: OOC

For all the new players need you to roll a D8 for your starting Temporary Shadow Points.

After that roll take your WISDOM bonus and apply in the opposite direction. Thus a

For example

Bob rolled an 8 and has a 9 WIS (-1) so he adds a +1 to his TEMP Shadow for a 9

Sally rolls an 8 and has a 16 WIS (+3) so she subtracts a -3 to her TEMP Shadow for a 5

If you happen to end up with more TEMP Shadow points than your WISDOW PM me and we will discuss the impacts:

Using Bob from above His TEMP Shadow = his Wisdom score.  He will reduce his TEMP to 0 and give himself 1 Permanent Shadow.

Hello!

I think I can squeeze in a return to the game now. ;)

I'm also more than happy to keep Thiriswen, especially now that the portrait I submitted four score and seventy nine years ago has finally been uploaded. :D

Re: OOC

We have 8 now and a potential for 1 more.  I fully expect that RL will whittle these back down over time, but we will be fine with this large of a party.

I plan on wrapping up the current adventure tonight or tomorrow (Asgrim, Berethor, Gundri, Sadrion and Thiriswen)

Then introduce the new characters (Alenia, Thalanir, Valtharr and the potential last one)

Need to review my notes (when I get back home) but I'm 95% certain that we will be resuming either at the Easterly Inn or Beorn's Home.

For All the players that are LVL 2 a few things to catch you up a bit:
1.  See my Shadow points post #409
2.  4d6 silver pennies (Can spend to upgrade or buy new gear)
3.  1 Fellowship phase action

I know many of you only have the AiME PHB and that is fine.  A word of warning monsters are NOT the same and in almost every case way more dangerous.  Your average orc is sitting around 18 HP

Cheers!

Re: OOC

OOC:  Near the Forest gate road which is North or Beorns House.

In Game description:  The Easterly Inn is situated near a little brook that flows out of Mirkwood towards the Great River, approximately 20 miles south of where the forest gate opens along the eaves of the wild wood.  A small stone bridge arches over the babbling waters, and just beyond that stands the inn.

The inn is run by some hobbits Dodinas and his wife Agatha, they have only been in business for a 2 years now.  You find the accommodations reasonable and the drink-especially the beer remarkably good.

Re: OOC

Looking at the equipment list on p153 of the AiME players guide are there some typos with some of the costs? Clothes, common are listed as 120c which is 10s but that is more expensive than Clothes, costume and both sets of travellers clothes, which is a little weird. And a blanket is 120c which is also 10s and therefore ten times the prices of a bedroll.

Is there an errata that corrects this?

Thanks for any help with this.

Loremaster:
3.  1 Fellowship phase action

Looking at options for this are you allowing the Further Undertakings option "Gain a Cultural Virtue" on p153 of the Loremaster's Guide?

If I understand that option correctly it will allow a character to take an extra Cultural Virtue in addition to those normally dictated by levels. Is that right or have I misunderstood that optional rule?

Thanks for any guidance on this.

Re: OOC

Think I have answered all the PMs and questions.  If your missing an answer to something let me know

1. Cultural virtue are gained as level bonuses for now ot asd a fellowship undertaking

2.  I'm not sure on errata for coin.  Don't sweat it at this point, soon you'll have more coin than you need and money is not as important in this game.

3.  As I reviewed my game notes we will be starting at the Easterly Inn

I also don’t understand the Fellowship phase. What do I do in this period?

Thanks for clarifying.

I'm also stuck a little with what to do for the Fellowship phase. Are the best options to either try to reduce temporary shadow points or to develop a patron? Those seem to be the most applicable in the current situation.

Re: OOC

Look at the thread:  Journey's, Sanctuarys, The Shadow and Treasure-it has a list of Fellowship fromthe PHB, the supplements and a House Rule.

But reducing Shadow Points or gain Patron are normal.

Re: OOC

To put it like this, in the Fellowship phases, your character is resting and recovering after the previous adventure, and doing things on their own before the next adventure starts. Mechanically, you heal up (p.199) and you're given an undertaking (if you have the time, as sometimes fellowships can be short).

An undertaking is usually something that your character does while away from the party - they make new friends, travel to new places, etc. You can find them in the fellowship section of the various region guides and the player's handbook, a description for how it fully works is also in p.199 of the Player's Guide.

None of them are really the best - all of them can be helpful (or not), a lot will depend on how you use it and where the adventure will take you. The corruption healing one is perhaps the only one that you will be using regularly, since that one is pretty darn good if you get a lot of shadow points.

Okay, makes a bit more sense now. Thanks.

If I return to Laketown to write a diary and tell my friends and family tales of my adventures so far, that would count for Healing Corruption right? On that basis could I sub Cha or Int for Wis when making my DC role?

In reply to Loremaster (msg # 421):

Okay, I looked again at the prices in the AIME PHB. There seems to be an error when they updated prices, as a lot of things that were 5sp in the normal PHB are now 120c. As a rule of thumb I would say just ignore the 0 on any price quoted that is above 12c, that sounds a lot more realistic. How does that sound? Easier than trying to so some sort of conversion.

Once this is sorted I think I am almost ready, just need my earlier query on Fellowship phase (message #426) answered. Thanks!

Ouch! As an aspiring professor, I can sympathize - take your time with it! :)

Also, as far as prices are concerned - yes, they're a bit off. There were fixes, but most of them up and vanished with the Cubicle 7 Forums or the Google+ group. C'est la vie, unfortunately.

I'm sure the GM will be able to decide if he wants to change those prices around when it comes to specific items should you need to buy them. :)

I found a revised (fan produced) price list from the AiME Reddit:

Based on these revised prices Thalanir will also have a Healer's Kit, which might be useful, and a few extra bits of gear.
