Re: OOC:  Ship's Lounge
The biggest event in Anika's previous service revolves around her refusing to stand down during a conflict, and taking command of the away team to rescue prisoners/hostages against the commanding officer's orders.  She faced charges following that, but (perhaps because her father is a retired admiral), she was given a second chance.

She could have served with any of the other characters prior to that, or even on the same ship with them during that incident (its also possible that a fellow PC might have actually been one of the prisoners she ended up rescuing).  I don't have a timeline or anything set up for her at this point, having left things suitably undefined to facilitate connections.

By the way, I put my timeline up in my character details. Feel free to peruse to make connections, if you so desire.

Neshlel bav Wenkurn:
I certainly volunteer to have served with Captain Momoa before. One of Neshlel's career events is to have encountered species with an unusual form of communicating and have learned its unique language- perhaps that incident could have occurred serving under him and caught his attention enough to bring with him to the Excalibur?

- The native lifeform on Imli VII communicated via musical notes, some of which were beyond the human capacity to perceive.  While serving under Theodore Momoa, Neshlel successfully learned to interpret and reconstruct this new species’ language so the Captain could use her information to negotiate the release of some of their crewmen (which later turned out to be a case of confusion and mistaken intentions). The incident brought her to the Captain’s notice and was the catalyst for her transfer to the Excalibur when Momoa received command, insistent on retaining her linguistic expertise.

I love it.

Reminds me of the third episode I ran for my online game on another site (CODA at the time); taking place during the events of TVH, the antagonist was a member of the whale probe builder species, who used a musical language to communicate (and, mixed with telepathy, enthralled entire crews, including the Saratoga).

Re: OOC:  Ship's Lounge
Yeah, by all means feel free to work out how/if you all knew each other.  Starfleet in the 23rd century seemed to be a fairly tightly-knit fraternity, with Kirk knowing most of the Admiralty and vice versa.

Also, it's been an exceptionally long day and I'll try to get character sheets, etc that were sent to me up tomorrow, but I'm too wiped out tonight.

Oh, and one of my ideas for a TNG era campaign was that all of the character were some of the extras, guest stars and stand-ins that we saw aboard the Enterprise-D.  :)

I don't know if the CSFO would allow me to link to my game here, but if any of you want to take a gander, please rMail me and I'll give you the link. :) We've been running for over 8 years and are just starting our 11th episode. :)

Re: OOC:  Ship's Lounge
I'd be fine with you linking your game here.  If you were interested in players, I'm going to start sending out rejection PMs tomorrow, so feel free to post it in the Looking For Players thread if you'd like as well.  :)

I added most of the character sheets that I received, although I asked for additional info on a few before putting them up.

At this point, I'm intending to try and start next Monday/Tuesday if possible.  There will be an "Episode 0" which will be a relatively short prologue for people to mingle and meet each other and interact.  There will also be a few recurring NPCs that will crop up from time to time.  The setting will be a pre-launch party attended by the senior staff (maybe a few others slipped in), other notables and Starfleet brass.

So, I hope you aren't allergic to champagne and get your dress uniforms ready!

I'm not looking for any players; I have five, and that's about as many as I like to run. But, I love the storytelling aspect of games, and I have a good group of storytellers in my group (including one of the STA writers :) ). It's a testament to them that we've been going steady since 2009.

If you only read one story, read 1.4: First Response. We all think it's the best Trek we've done.

Sorry all, but I've come down with something or other and I've been dragging all day.  I'll try to get more notices and the like out tomorrow and over the weekend.

Hey everyone!

Well, I'm feeling almost (about 80%) Human again, so it looks like I've beaten the dreaded Vegan Space Sickness and I may live!

I'm still waiting to hear back from a handful of people, but I'm hoping to get the "Prologue" thread up by tomorrow or Wednesday (2/14) at the latest.

Re: OOC:  Ship's Lounge
Everything came through and we were able to close on the house! We are now proud homeowners.

I am still here, and still wanting to participate, but the next three weeks are going to see me grouchy and exhausted every day with the move, since I am doing most of it myself. My wife is disabled, and I am retired, so we are taking our time and doing it slowly.

I promise I will post something at least once every two days-- anything more than that will have to be and unplanned bonus. Please don't hold up the game waiting for me.

Re: OOC:  Ship's Lounge
Congratulations!  I bought my house about 3 years ago, so I know how exhausting it can be!  Post when you can!

Alright, the first thread is up!  The setting is the reception after the formal ceremony for the ship's refit.  A selection of Admirals, Commodores and Councilors all came up to give long-winded speeches about how great everything and everyone is and now it's time to mingle!

Would 'the scare with the Springfield' have been officially known in Starfleet, or made the rounds of the unofficial grapevine at all?

Re: OOC:  Ship's Lounge
That would be a Reason + Conn (Difficulty 1) roll to see if you had heard any scuttlebutt, rumors, etc.

If you have a Focus in an appropriate field (Starfleet History, Starfleet Protocol, Rumor Mill, etc) that would be fine as well.

And with that thought, I'll create a separate thread to track Momentum and Threat.  Any extra Momentum can be used to get more info or added to the group Momentum pool as per usual.

Re: OOC:  Ship's Lounge
Hello everyone!

I'm so sorry for the extended time without an update, but it's been a hectic week.

First of all, my Dad is doing well and is at home where my sister and brother can keep an eye on him and help him out.  There were some complications which I don't really want to go into, but he's home now, so it's all good.  My siblings and I have spent the past couple of days trying to get some things in order for him and make some arrangements around the house, so that was why I've been away.  None of them have decent internet, so I wasn't able to keep you guys updated.

I will have something up tomorrow (3/3) some time not that I've had the last day or so to take care of things for myself that got dropped to help out my Dad.

I hope everyone is still on board and ready to go!
