Re: Episode 2: ...And there's nothing I can do
"Let's finish this," Skybreaker snarles as he turns toward the lone Glass Man prone in the corner.   He hovers just above the frost as he floats closer, gathering energy as he approaches.

"Don't know if we can get much out of constructs," he muses aloud, "but pretty sure we only need one."

With both hands Skybreaker unleashes the energy on the Glass Man.

OOC:
23:20, Today: Skybreaker rolled 4 using 18-3d6 with rolls of 5,5,4.  Lightning Blast, OCV 7.
- hit DCV 4-, maybe since he's prone

If that hit, 2 levels with Weather Control for +1 DC
23:22, Today: Skybreaker rolled 53 using 13d6 with rolls of 2,6,4,1,5,2,2,5,6,6,6,5,3.
- 16 BODY, hope I hit him or there may be a hole in the floor

Skybreaker:
STUN - 28 / 35
END - 41 / 70

Re: Episode 2: ...And there's nothing I can do
The Masked Luchadora turns towards the last remaining glass man attempting to impress him into surrendering. However, she is still prepared to act in case he doesn't.

"You there, Glass Man, you are the last survivor. You face the combined might of the Protectors unless you surrender! Now!" she shouts in a heavily Hispanic accented voice.

OOC:
Transpower is performing a Presence Attack while delaying her next action to attack if the glass man continues to fight.

15 PRE + Striking Appearance = 3d6 + 2d6 + 5d6 PRE Attack (Command: Surrender)
Today: Transpower rolled 12 using 5d6.  Presence Attack.

Re: Episode 2: ...And there's nothing I can do
Xuanwu had gone to follow up her block with a counterstrike with her baton only to have it shatter into a million pieces before she could even start the attack. She let out a surprised yelp and shielded her eyes reflexively with her arm. The martial artist tried to concentrate on changing the baton to a longer weapon but the surprise had her distracted enough that it started the change by smoothing out into more of a pole like weapon than the tapered baton with the ball tip but never got longer.

OOC: Blech. Not enough points to both bypass the PD and change enough BODY
21:24, Today: Xuanwu rolled 7 using 3d6 with rolls of 5,1,1.  Ferromancy.

Re: Episode 2: ...And there's nothing I can do
Mo'an captializes on the position he left the glowing glass man in. Pointing at the prone creature, he reaches out with his mind and grabs the creature, then with a wave of his hand the creature is slammed into the wall.

[OOC:
switching multipower to TK and Levitation (1 END to maintain position at ceiling)
using TK to perform a standard grab and slam on the glowing glass man, grab -1 OCV, -2 DCV, END cost is 4
OCV is five and all HTH combat levels are still on DCV, which is 4 vs ranged and 7 vs HTH
to hit roll is 13, 11+5-13=3, but as glowing glass man is prone, his DCV is halved so this grabs a 6 or less
Mo'an rolled four BODY on his STR vs Casual STR to keep the victim from escaping the grab
damage for the slam was 19 STUN, 6 BODY
01:30, Today: Mo'an Guuz rolled 13,16,19 using 3d6,6d6,4d6
grab - 3,4,6
vs Casual STR - 1,4,2,3,1,5
Slam damage - 3,6,4,6]

STUN 40/40
END 28/45

Re: Episode 2: ...And there's nothing I can do
Still sore from the cut, The Shade takes a breather as the glass man before him finally shatters from his assault. Not one breath later, the powerful energy stream of Skybreaker leaves an ionized trail about a meter away from him.

"Well... it appears we have all under control."

The Shade takes a step back and gathers in the scene before him.

OOC:

The Shade will move one square to southeast, and make some distance with the trapped Glass Man. With so much artillery aimed at it, he thinks he should leave it some space to blow up without endangering himself. =)

Move and Look Around (Perception) to evaluate the state of the encounter.

Segment 12:
Xuanwu reshapes her baton slightly.

Mo'an slams the glowing figure around, the figure cracks slightly more but continues to struggle.

Gypsy's shot shatters the glass figure at Mo'an's feat.

The Shade steps back and to the side, letting the others target the entrapped figure on the ground. The battle appears to be mostly won, but the figures fight with an almost mindless tenacity.

Photon's attack leaves the entrapped glass man a pile of glass shards on the ground. With that attack, the effect which had protected the glass men fades, they no longer benefit from any levels of Damage Negation.

As Transpower attempts to impress the figure in the corner, a bolt of lighting leaves a charred mark on the ground where it was standing. Skybreaker's blast liquidizing the glass in an instant.

As the crack of accompanying thunder fades, Mo'an sees the glowing figure aiming it's hand at him in what is clearly an attack motion. It's fingers launch and fly towards him. The sharp-looking shards of glass embed themselves in the ceiling a half-meter from his head and start working their way deeper in.

OOC:
End of Segment 12; Post-Segment 12 recoveries. Segment 1 no actions, Segment 2; Gypsy, Shade and Photon have actions.

Photon takes a breather, then shouts "on it". He flies up 10m, and tries to shoot the glass fingers with his energy blast.

09:02, Today: Photon rolled 15 using 3d6 with rolls of 6,6,3.  Attack roll. Hits DCV 1.
Photon is currently 4" tall. Here's hoping his small size will offset any penalty for the smaller targets.
09:07, Today: Photon rolled 44 (with 12 body) using 12 with the Hero (Champions) system) Damage roll.
27 End spent from phase 12. Recover 10, Spent 6 on phase 2. Current END spent 23.

Post Segment 12:

The Shade recovers 22 END of 32 END spent in the turn, as well as topping off his STUN. He is currently at:

END: 50 / 60
STN: 50 / 50
BOD:  8 / 11

Phase 2:

The Shade watches the fingers fly out and drive themselves into the wall. They seem to burrow through the bulkhead with uncanny determination. While he didn't think there was any risk to the station at the moment, since it was likely the fingers would simply exit on the other side of the wall and fall inertly to the ground, it was still a good idea to not leave any potential risks ignored.

Photon takes a shot at the fingers as he flies into the air.

... hmm... interesting... either they are sending a "failure" message to whoever sent them here, or they are attempting to enact one last desperate move to achieve whatever results they originally had in mind despite the ruin now visited on them...

OOC:
The Shade is calmly pondering to himself what these "glass men" might have been doing here.

META OOC:
It appears that "Photon" has mistakenly used the name "Quark", which is for another character, in another game. =)

Segment 2:
Gypsy fires off another blast at the glowing figure, it reacts badly to the interaction of energies and explodes.

The Shade ponders these creatures presence on the station.

Photon flies up to the ceiling and checks on the finder shards. By the time he gets to them they have stopped moving, buried about a half-inch into the ceiling tiles.

With the last creature's destruction, combat ends. There are a couple remains of the creatures laying around the room but the pieces are too small to be a true threat and as you relax from the combat, small robots emerge from the walls and start cleaning up the glass. (And attempting to clean the ice.)

The station speaks, "I have completed a deep scan of the rest of the facility, I find no other occupants on board, hostile or not. I also cannot determine how these creatures arrived in the first place."

Re: Episode 2: ...And there's nothing I can do
Relaxing now that the threat had been dealt with, Skybreaker ceases maintaining the icy patch along with the rest of his elemental energies.  "Everyone okay?" he asks.

The hero can't help but frown as the station reports its findings, "No offense Gideon but your systems have been pretty unreliable so far.  It might be a good idea for some of us to search the base ourselves to confirm and look for clues.  Any idea what they were doing in this room before we arrived, Gideon?"

"Reviewing the security footage they we're just standing there until you entered the room. I have checked the video feeds from the rest of the station and did not find anything that matched these creatures, however that does not mean there are no other threats on board. Personally checking the rest of the station may be worthwhile but will be time consuming."

Mo'an floats down from the ceiling, and shakes his head. As he approaches all who are willing and attempts to re-establish the mind link, he ponders aloud, "There appears to be some inter-dimensional anomalies occurring, and we have not yet established whether that would be our presence, here, or the absence of those we knew. In any case, it wouldn't be a statistical impossibility for those crystalline humanoids to have come from another dimension."
"I wonder, also, whether it's possible Gideon is not native, but this satellite is."

"Apologies, my database is showing signs of tampering." There is a pause, "The access logs have also been erased, I am attempting to recover the missing information, however whomever did it was skilled with computers. In addition, the time stamps place the tampering before the changes to the timeline." The voice sounds a little troubled, "I must admit, I don't like having my memories tampered with in this manner, it feels... line an invasion."

The Shade comments,

"The observation of record tampering before the timeline alteration suggests a premeditated action. Someone was expecting the change, and prepared for it by removing evidence of concerted effort.

We need to look further into this.

Gideon, would you also happen to retain any records of any personnel who could have had access to your files, and the necessary expertise to conduct such operations?"

The Shade walks stiffly to one of the chairs, where he sits down with a light grunt. His body is restoring itself, but it will take a while to fully heal.

"Getting Sigrun up here to join us is a great idea!" wholeheartedly agreed Transpower.  Turning her attention to the computer she asked, "Gideon, is there any way we could simply have Sigrun brought up here? I'd like to have her here soonest and I don't think we should separate into too many groups."

She paused to look at the other heroes while continuing, "Especially if some of us are going to search the station while others work on Gideon. If those who are searching find more Glass Men or something even more peligroso, I mean dangerous, they might need help pronto."

Mo'an nods. "I can't help with these machines. They don't even have primitive rhomboid calcite gates. This means little, of course. The machines I'm familiar with are devoid of extruded metals."
"But, I would serve better by exploring the base or retrieving Sigrun. We are, of course, assuming Sigrun is staying away of her own free will. If the crystalline humanoids we met were a contingency plan for heroes that escaped the temporal shift, then there are likely other contingency plans on the planet's surface."

Re: Episode 2: ...And there's nothing I can do
Searching the base happens slowly. The primary areas are cleared first; reactor room, computer core and the like, followed by several of the residential levels. Personal belongings are found in many of the rooms, signs of the heroes who no longer exist, or who only exist as normal people now with no special powers. A lot of rooms are empty, looking like they were waiting for an occupant. The areas that have been checked are clear, no signs of physical sabotage or other forms of tampering.

Gideon's data core is another story. Not only did someone very skilled with technology wipe large portions of data, who ever it was also left booby traps throughout her programming. It will take a lot of time to clear them all out, provided they can all be found. Fortuitously they don't seem to be active.

Convincing Sigrún to come up to the Skybase is fairly easy, getting her to stay is harder. She explains that ever since her wings appeared, she has found enclosed areas to be troubling. And she has started making an attempt to win back her girlfriend, though anyone outside that relationship can tell it's likely doomed.
