Re: Into the Black Unknown: OoC

Strike Team Specialist isn't super useful unless other characters have Forging the Bond. It's good for me, but there's no way I can let one of the Carcharodons use the Space Wolves' attack pattern.

The Red Scorpions offer the following Squad Modes, which I believe I can activate with a Command Test, with no modifier because we're Rank 3. Codex Maneuvers is pretty solid.

RED SCORPIONS ATTACK PATTERN:
CODEX MANOEUVRES
Action: Full Action
Cost: 4
Sustained: Yes
Effects: The Red Scorpions revere the Codex Astartes as a religious
text, sacred orders laid down by true servants of the God-Emperor
and integral to the strength and effectiveness of the Chapter. In
battle they can use the Codex to execute flawless attacks and
provide an answering tactic to anything the enemy throws at
them. The Battle-Brother’s Kill-team gains a number of re-rolls
equal to the number of its members each turn (measured from the
start of the squad leader’s turn to the start of his following turn)
reflecting the greater efficiency which the squad works together
while adhering to the Codex. These re-rolls form a pool which
can be used by any Battle-Brother in support range of the squad
leader and are replenished at the start of the next turn. Remember
though that a dice roll can only ever be re-rolled once and the
player must abide by the re-rolled result. This pool can be used to
re-roll Weapon Skill, Ballistic Skill, Dodge, and Parry Tests.
Improvement: At Rank 4 activating this ability becomes
a Half Action. At Rank 6 this ability costs 1 less point of
Cohesion to activate.

RED SCORPIONS DEFENSIVE STANCE:
CORRUPTION RESISTANCE
Action: Half Action
Cost: 2
Sustained: Yes
Effects: Red Scorpions are naturally resistant to corruption
and daemonic influence, their purity protecting them to
a greater degree than those more “flawed” warriors of the
Adeptus Astartes. In addition to being able to detect the signs
of taint, a Red Scorpions Battle-Brother can steel himself and
those around him against it, through pure thought and an
unyielding will. The Battle-Brother and those within Support
Range gain a +10 to any Test to resist gaining Corruption
Points and a +10 to any Opposed Test (such as resisting
psychic powers) made against creatures with the Daemonic
Trait. In addition, while a Battle-Brother is benefiting from
this ability any Corruption Points he gains will be reduced by
1, or 2 if he is from the Red Scorpions Chapter.
Improvement: At Rank 4 the bonus to resist Corruption and
Opposed Tests with daemonic creatures increases to +20, at
Rank 7 Corruption Points are reduced by a further 1 point
(meaning Battle-Brothers receive 2 less Corruption Points or
3 less Corruption Points if they are Red Scorpions).

Re: Into the Black Unknown: OoC

Those are some good tactics to put into use, definitely.

In reply to Kyros (msg # 47):

With Tactical Expertise we can all use the Rerolls.

I think Oath of Astartes might be the best all around package of Squad Modes unless we all take Chain Swords, in which case the Immediate Free Charge with Damage Rerolls from Furious Charge as Part of Oath of Glory is pretty stout.

Seems like I'm it. Oath of the Astartes or Oath of Glory - I see the Acting Captain has taken a Chain Sword - Glory?

At the moment I have NOT spent Requisition.

I didn't have enough for a Power Sword. Considering getting Signature Wargear, but I'm spoilt for choice & can't decide what to do with it.

That I can't help with.

So, Bolt Gun with Fire Selector for me. Free so far. We already have Witch Bolts. Harness is 5. Chain Sword is 5. I have 40 to spend. You want them for a Power Sword and Back Pack ammo supply? Anything left I can use for grenades or Kraken bolts.

Re: Into the Black Unknown: OoC

I can be, but no. I wore Scout armor at the outset because I was detached as a sniper.

I'm a Red Scorpion, we kind of hate camo. IF the Emperor wanted us to hide we'd have chameleon powers built in. The enemy needs to see the Emperor's Light being brought to them.

In reply to Kubra (msg # 55):

Just checked, I think I'm good-ish. The Heavy Bolter comes with a backpack ammo supply. Think I'll go with Air of Authority too, makes sense with me being acting captain. Cool toys can come later.

Re: Into the Black Unknown: OoC

Kinda off topic but had a late night thought. The color scheme of the specialists, the scale outline is in the "traditional" colors, so red outline for techies and blue for libbies. Shade could denote rank in their field or personal choice. Chaplains and apothecaries would probably need to do a grey base or just have the bases switched.

Is there a program of any kind that could do a paint up perhaps of the color scheme?

Hey guys, thanks for holding out hope for me.  I got slammed for a long while, but I'm finally getting my free time back and will rejoin you.   I'll do my reading, but are there any big points you want to bring to my attention?

Re: Into the Black Unknown: OoC

Awesome, I'm glad I took a flaming chainsword as Signature Wargear.   I'm not sure I have the Renown for advanced gear considering how much I missed, so I'll stick to initiate stuff.   Any objections to me bringing a heavy flamer?

Here's my requisition, assuming it's 50 like everyone else;
  • Astartes Harness (4)
  • Heavy Flamer (15)

That leaves 31 for the pool, plus the 27 earlier for a total of 58.  I would like to motion for the pool to be used to pick up an Astartes Signum for that extra +5 BS across the team, and a Signum Link for anyone who wants Gang Up bonuses at range.

If anyone is opposed to me bringing a flame weapon,  I can grab a Signum Link instead. (Which should leave 53 points for the pool)
