DW, DC and RT are the ones i got. But if we go RT i want one where the ship stuff is a side business.

I think if you explain it reasonably in the fiction it should fly.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

I ran a long term campaign of Rogue Trader, and I think it can be very doable.  We used a slightly modified set of rules on the ship combat, which made it a lot better.  And while potentially all characters can be given opportunities in a ship to ship fight, it still comes down to the captain, the pilot and the gunners doing the most.

If we wanted to really abstract the ship to ship fights (I still think they're fun, but yeah they can be one sided for some of the group), we could have rolls made ahead of time maybe, take down some general tactics that we employ, and then compare our firepower to the other's and make some judgments on who would win and how damaged we come out.  Or always use boarding procedures maybe.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

One other thing I was thinking of would be not a Deathwatch game, but uses its rules, and instead make a combat squad of marines from one chapter, or maybe related successor chapters.  Basically do a deep dive into the lore of one of the chapters and have them go on missions and stuff.  Could have it happen at different times and places maybe, like The Horus Heresy or maybe the Badab Wars.

Kyros' suggestion was what I originally had in mind for this campaign, although more of a sandbox.

I keep comming back to wanting to run a Gorkamorka game. But it seems RPoL only attracts the power players and not the people that are there to have a lot of fun roleplaying the Orky life.

I can't wait to get to this part of the game.

There's a fanmade conversion for da boyz in Only War in the FFG archives.  Also for Tau and SoB.  I only know of them by reputation, however, as I've never read through them.

An Ork ship would be interesting.  A social game with them would still involve plenty of violence I'm sure.  If that's what people are leaning  towards, sure.

I suggest we try the Navigate route.  Hrothgar gives us an Inspire, then someone assists whoever is doing the actual check (my TN would be 44; anyone have a higher check?)

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

So how do we want to do this?  Initially I thought we'd to fight our way to them, but now we have to hold the line.  We want to hold specific spots or split up a bit?  If we use the other forces and then split up a bit we might be able to hold them.

I'm thinking choke points. I still have my cluster mines & I reckon we can get these tarantulas up & running.

Can these shattered crates & whatnot be moved, even if its by shoving or towing with a tank? I'm thinking to use them to create obstacles for the incoming gaunt waves.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

You have about ten minutes, but you could do a little of that. Use Strength, Drive, or Command , all at -10.

A wee bit busy and having trouble to frame the scene in my mind.

We need to stand our ground for the stormtroopers to come and get us out?

That's the impression I got. A sea of gaunts flooding into the Spaceport with us and a few pdf waiting to greet them.

Btw, for anyone that hasn't seen these yet. Very cool, completely unofficial Astartes videos that I had no part in creating.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

You can physically block one of the entrances with the Chimeras, but it will take both of them to block one entrance.

The Tarantulas and the PDF can each hold one of the entrances by themselves, but not for long.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

Fortunately the landing platform is considerably elevated and provides an excellent line of sight over a killing field.

Which resources are you using to block which of the four entrances? For fairness, why don't each of you pick one of the resources to assign.

If you use both Chimeras to block one of the entrances, fair enough. You could instead assign one of the Chimeras to the PDF as a strong point, which will greatly increase their resilience and firepower.

Resources to assign to Entrances
2 Tarantula turrets
1 Platoon of PDF

Blocked by junk

2 Chimeras

Have Kyros use the one blocked by junk.  When they get over it he slams into them.  He's designed to be a hoard breaker.
