Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

Teleport Homer would be Rock solid.

Also, are we worrying about Oaths and Cohesion? We haven't, that I recall, used Squad/Solo mode.

Did they have Astartes Power armor? It seems like the probably did, but don't want jump to that conclusion.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

Only if there is a ship with a teleport homer. And as we havent been teleported out i doubt we have one of those rare tools at our disposal.

I forgot my extra damage solo mode a few times but i believe we used one squad mode way back once ;-)

We probably should grab one.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

I think we used it before you joined. It was over with fairly quickly due to small group size & low rank. Oath wise, do we want extra cohesion, +10 to WP tests, extra renown, +10 vs a chosen enemy or bonuses to resist cohesion damage? As a space puppy there's another path in a fluff book where we can also reduce cohesion costs if I'm team leader.

For team leader purposes, does Kubra count as a Tac Marine?

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

On oaths:

Personally i love the Oath of the Emperor. +10 Willpower means i only fuck up a psy power on a double.  And if we can extend it to 'our' troops its great for their cohesion.

Oath of Knowledge: You get +10 Ws an BS vs nids is nothing to scoff at. And i can reroll phenomena test meaning i can push the shield and then maintian it at psy 5 and eat 1 horde damage from my smite that goes at psy 2.
Only drawback is that I am only qualified to lead and the squad modes are pure defense but as those been neglected mostly this one is.

Oath of Knowledge has my favor.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

I am, actually a Tactical. Have Forging the Bond and Tactical Expertise. Fellowship is 54 and have Command as trained. I can probably move some points around and get the +10 Command for the extra point of Cohesion too.

Lets pick the oath we like and the leader we need for that. I chipped in with my preferred ones but what are your ideas?

Also did we have new blood incomming boss?

Yeah but I'm not sure if we should add them into the game until after this battle is over.

Oath of Knowledge gives us +10 to hit at the cost of your re-rolls. The Squad Modes basically suck for us though - Cover is useless to the Assault Marines. Strongpoint can be pretty good but 30 meters isn't much range for the Center to be behind the Assault Marines.

Regroup and Furious Charge are the better Squad Modes. But they're not actually available together. Furious Charge is only available with Oath of Glory which begets us some bonus renown, if we live. Oath of Loyalty gets us Regroup but +10 to resist Cohesion damage and +1 to Cohesion Challenges is pretty crap but Tactical Spacing can be handy in melee.

Overall, it's a tough call but the combat bonus is the deciding factor to my mind. I think it has to be Oath of Knowledge.

What's Cohesion going to look like? I don't want to say the Sharks are coarse and abrasive but charm and grace aren't exactly their strong suits.

Fel 38 and basic basic command. Don't think im doing cohesion any good but its not like we used/needed it before and we are in it for the +10 anyhow ;-)

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

I'm good with us going for the oath of knowledge. That +10 for 'nid whacking will no doubt be useful & squad mode seemed to be a once per mission thing to haul our asses out of the fire, at least at our current rank anyways.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

We could use Squad Mode a couple of times with me as leader but there's not enough advantage in Squad Mode to outweigh the +10. My Heavy Bolter gets significantly more useful and dangerous as does the charge by you Assaults.

I may have missed it, was there a teleport homer?  I was mainly referring to getting back from the ship not porting in, but I wasn't too clear.

?As i read it they cant lock on us properly to get us out. Might be useful to grab on if we ever jump into the void for retrieval.

Re: Silence of the Warp: OoC

You're going to need the teleport homer if you want to get teleported back out again. Otherwise you'll have to find another way out that won't be as quick.

I can drop the camo cloak. I doubt it will be useful and it nets us 2 homers.

Everyone give a hearty cheer and praise to the Emperor, because we have some new players.

New people: if you want to catch up with the story, I have a thread for the Story Thus Far.
Go ahead and start on your character sheets and let me know when you're done.

I think we'll try to burn through this mission quickly so we can get into the Rogue Crusade part of the game.

A Flesh Tearer Medic?  Uh...OK, well that should be good, we have two Space Sharks, likely have a lot in common.

Welcome all.

Welcome! First time I've encountered a Flesh Tearer in the wild. Don't you guys just eat your wounded? So you're what, a cook?
