Re: Behind the Gellar Field

I don't think us new guys are equipped to extract the VIP, unless you happened to bring multiple teleporter beacons or are willing to have Arkio go on a spacewalk with the VIP.  Additionally, if the tyranid vessel is so big that the Imperial ship was sinking in its stomach acid, the blast will probably disembowel it but won't guarantee the destruction of the synapse node.  Without that, the whole mission would have been a waste of time and assets.

If we CAN get the reactor to overload,  this might actually be a good point to interact with the other survivors and the Stormtroopers you brought with you.  Try to convince them to buy the space Marines time to finish the mission by holding out on the remainder of the ship, and let THEM detonate it once we're clear/when they get overrun.  If we can't get it to perform a controlled detonation, the extra bodies can at least earn their lives as cannon fodder covering our backs on the way to the objective.

No i mean extract it from this vessel while we keep any nasties away from you here. And then we move on together.

Jericho Reach:
It's (the reactor) in an inactive state right now. You could reactivate it but other parts of the ship are in bad states and might cause problems.

I don't think the ship is fit for extraction, unless we're going to spend several HOURS holding off increasing waves of enemies while our Techmarine struggles against the slowly dissolving hull.  It's better to just push on in that instance.

Re: Behind the Gellar Field

As i read it the ship is of no use for us. Stuff either takes to much time we do not have or is lost to us. Lets get the VIP and other troops out and move on.

Re: Behind the Gellar Field

I'm not talking about taking it with us. If the chamber is somewhat able to survive a reactor blast like Xander suggested, then trighering both the reactor and warp core at the same time could multiply the destructive force. Even with the shadow of the warp.

Whilst I like the idea of blowing up the buggered ship, perhaps after a dungeon crawl inside another dungeon crawl, I think it might be a none starter & we should push on.

Jericho Reach:
Honestly the hardest part about getting this reactor to detonate would be getting far enough away from it once it is engaged.

And this. It serves us no purpose if we are ot sure it kills the hive mind and we still all die. So get the VIP and any extra troops out and evacuate.

Hey, I'm back from a trip to Vegas, had a great time.  If you're ever out there, see the show Absinthe, it was incredible.  One of the funniest shows I've ever seen (plus sexy, and some incredible acrobatics and stuff.

You lucky dog... I wish my broke ass could afford it.  Sounds like my kinda show.

The last vacation trip I had was before my son was born, staying with some family who had a timeshare down in Belize.  The scuba diving was great, at least.

Re: Behind the Gellar Field

Before we all wade into this alien breeding nest and spawn an army of face huggers.

How many soldiers we have still with us? As they will be having an around 50% chance to rouse these lil fucks.

And how big is the chamber? We got 3 flamers i believe. Maybe cooking this is the better way to go.

And if we had an apotech this was prime xenophage stuff ;-)

Re: Behind the Gellar Field

Given that it was described as 200m long and "cavernous", I'd guess it's at least 30m-80m wide.  If you really want to go that route we would have to pray it doesn't just piss off the ship itself, as I think burning Promethium is a bit more disruptive than just walking around.

I'd also assume the soldiers with us would be LESS likely to disturb the pods than us, given that they aren't Hulking or wearing a literal half ton of ceramite.  That alone should only give them a 10% chance of waking something up.

Yeah, and Stormtroopers of all Guard know how to keep their gobs shut, so they don't have to roll.

Re: Behind the Gellar Field

Naw, bro.  I'm willing to bet straight Requisition that it's a threshold challenge, and even if we all passed SOMETHING would still happen as we're progressing through the hatchery.  This is probably just to see how far down the chamber we're able to go before shit goes sideways.

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
My guess is a carnifex or some warriors are going to get hatched halfway down the chamber,  regardless of what we do.   If we all get enough success,  they'll probably pop out just after we walk by giving us the option to run or fight.  If we don't get enough,  we'll likely end up waking up something else partway and cause a chain reaction in the hatchery, thus forcing us to fight our way through for every meter of ground.  At least, that's what I picture when the GM teases "interesting encounters ahead"...

No-one failed? I don't think the module expected that. I was given a schedule of what creatures pop out in each round, all after it says "if a PC fails this test..."

Anyway, side message,
I'm planning to start a Star Wars game using FFG's Force & Destiny rules if any of you fine people want to join.

If climbing is an issue for some (Astartes should be good) Kyros could fly up and secure a rope or cable.  I was about to post up when that occurred to me.  Should I make line to climb?

Re: Behind the Gellar Field

If we can move at +20 Agi it should be 'easy' enough to scale Not sure how much rope we will be needing to get everyone up. Mayby whip that out if there are trouble ascending with the group as rope climbing will most likely mean we loose time we no longer have.
