Hello. I don't really play much PC games nowadays. I'm still following Overwatch news and sometimes watch competitive games, but I very rarely play it myself.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I don't really enjoy the game play of Overwatch, I just love the setting.

I tried ranked briefly, last time I checked I was Silver but I mostly used to play casual games. Junkrat is probably my main.

For those of you who haven’t played the video game, I think you’re missing out. It’s a blast, if you just tune out some of the idiots who take it way too seriously. And I admit, Junkrat is awesome, but my main is D.Va. A n00b like me needs the widest target circle I can get. Plus, infinite ammo.

I'm Gold in comp, but I usually play solo, so there's a lot of randomness.

Oh, wow, I've been added already. Mantis is still in balancing and testing phases~!

Mantis OP. Please Nerf.

I played a lot of overwatch over the past year... I'm a support main but I'm reasonably competent at most things, with a few glaring exceptions. I hate the pressure of playing tanks, though. New D.va and her agressive style is fun, though. Moira's my favorite character to play, Mei from character flavor... I feel like they've mismanaged the mercy nerf that recently went live, though, I can't stand playing her anymore.

I hover between midgold and low plat when I play ranked, but i mostly just do my placements and leave it at that.

Anyway, hello everyone :)

Hello there! I'm similar to Jaeger in that I'm more into the lore and watching than playing. The gameplay is fun but I can tell I'd get bored of it quickly.

I'm getting to the point where I can't stand actually playing it solo, I never play without a friend at my side. It's more fun that way. Right now, i'm living the Monster Hunter Life :D

Since we have a lot of overwatch setting fans here, think I'll drop these; I have a huge collection of saved Overwatch Fan Songs - the best ones are really the ones that don't acknowledge the nature of it as a 'game', but eh.

Chitty chitty chat chat (OOC)
Heeee... I wrote up a summary of Mantis's fighting style as if she were a straight up overwatch character...

-----
HP: 150+100 Shield

Passive: Acrobatics: Elevated move speed and wall-climbing (ala Genji).

Primary Fire: Whirling Blade Strike: Delivers a rapid flurry of four melee hits. (faster than Genji's ultimate slash, but the hits are spread out, and can be escaped' Her movement speed dips while swinging repeatedly in place, enabling enemies to pull away from her strikes.

Alternate-Fire: Fires the pulse pistols in alternating patterns. Max ammo per gun of 5 shots, and her shots cool down similar to Doomfist's off-gauntlet; single-fire, rather than auto-fire. Feels more similar to faster McCree with less damage than Tracer.

Ability 1: Blade Shot: She has two charges of this, one with each gun. By hooking onto a wall, she is pulled to that position, as if she hooks onto an enemy. Hooking onto an enemy deals a crippling wound that slows their movement speed for 1 second (about the ressing mercy speed drop) and disables movement abilities for the duration.

Ability 2: Dodge: Manifests differently depending upon which direction you're dodging; forward or sides performs a roll (longer distance than McCree's, but rather than reloading, there are actual invincibility frames - if well-timed you can actually dodge-roll stuff like the detonation of a tracer or d.va bomb on you (about as hard to do as sombra's translocator dodge of such effects) Dodging while moving backward gives a high backflip - you can grapple to a target point while in midair with this backflip.

Ultimate: Blade Tornado: Mantis enters a powered-up state where her melee strikes have an extended area-of-effect reach. Making such attacks still slows her movement speed, but enemies caught in her whirling blades suffer the movement penalty as if hit by blade shot for the duration. She cannot use blade shot or her alternate fire during this ability, though she can dodge. AoE is approximately the size of lucio's aura.

I have as well, although I'm not particularly happy with the ultimate I thought of.

Fighting Style: Offense

Weapon of Choice: StGSD-66 Assault Rifle. The Sturmgewher Schalldämpfer 66 is a suppressed rifle known for it's accuracy and lethality in the hands of a trained marksman. It fires in a 3-round burst configuration with a cyclic rate of 750 rpm. Sustained fire can get rather inaccurate as the barrel heats up, and a inherent delay between bursts means technical RPM is closer to 600.

Health: 225

Basic Attack Damage: Each individual bullet does 25 health. A full burst hitting their target should be 75 damage.

Special Skills:

Like the Night (Passive): Jäger's stealth training and suppressed weapon gives him a unique advantage on the battlefield. Unlike other hero weaponry, Jäger's gun does not fire tracer rounds, masking his position. In addition, his noise when moving is at a minimum. Keeping eye's on Jäger is a requirement.

Impact Smoke: Jäger keeps on his person several smoke grenades which detonate on impact, creating a thick dark-grey smoke which dissipates after 10 seconds. He can quickly drop it at his feet or toss it at a max distance of 10 metres. This smoke grenade can be used defensively to mask movement or offensively to block line of sight (outlines are not shown through the smoke) or confuse the enemy.

Assassinate: Jäger keeps a personalized mono-blade tucked in a chest sheath. This deadly sharp blade can be used at CQC as a last resort measure or as a highly effective method of dispatching enemies. The knife deals 150 damage on a normal hit, and a backstab is a critical. However, this is a very high risk way of garnering kills, as the cooldown is punishing (18 seconds) and it's severely limited in range.

Adrenaline Shot: In a pinch, Jäger can use a disposable adrenaline syringe to slightly buff himself. Immediately, Jäger gains 50 health and gains a 30% increase in running and reloading speed. This effect lasts for 12 seconds and is an extremely versatile tool. He can use it to escape, chase down a wounded enemy, or sustain his health in enemy territory.

Ultimate skill:

Lone Wolf: The rush of the hunt consumes Jäger, and for 16 seconds he becomes a highly lethal combatant. For every enemy within 25 metres, Jäger gets a 10% boost to attack damage, 5% boost to movement and reload speed, and -3 seconds cooldown on his Assassinate skill. In addition, he gets a flat +75 health.

Nice, Jaeger. The ult feels a bit odd, since it'd generally be straight up team fight material and a 60% damage boost is kind of crazy, but yeah :D neat.

I like that, while we both have melee abilities, we executed on them quite differently. melee's Mantis's main thing, intending her to basically play as a 'hook in,  and strike before getting out' stype, and she can do a double-hook to stick to a taret and probably kill them, but that uses up  her best escape tool (Backflip and hook to safety)

She's probably got some similarity to how Reaper ends up playing,  up-close DPS , but not actually an anti-tank character. Rein would be in trouble, though since her main attack is melee and thus ignores his shield :D  (but, his armor would mitigate the  melee hits well at first)

Yeah, that's why I mentioned not being happy with it. It's basically just solo nanoboosting, not very clever or original. Plus it doesn't mesh too well with the team role he's supposed to play. That being a stealth flanker somewhat similar to Sombra.

I mean no offense when I say this, Jaeger, but some of your abilities seem a tad too strong...Assassinate and the Lone Wolf specifically.

Because Assassinate pretty much one-hit kills from behind, which not even Genji can do, maybe the backstab does 150 damage?

Lone Wolf lasts double the amount of time Nano Boost does, which is too long for the amount of additional damage he gets. I don't think the +75 health is needed. Honestly you could just compact Lone Wolf and Adrenaline Shot together and nerf the result down a bit.

I see what you're saying Snowden. I just didn't wanna be all ' nerf dis' -  Honestly, I think certain elements of what I've got for Mantis are questionable, but it's really all in the numbers of how her damage plays out in her case. the goal isn't  instakilling, but she can invest herself to stick to a squishy and probably put them down, . Again, damage numbers are how the general idea is balanced, and in this case, I was r\more trying to lay out the feeling/ style of play, and the num erical scaling cna go from there.

Oh, by all means please give me feedback. I know that some people get upset when you give constructive criticism, but I'm not like that I promise. I'm glad you actually said something about it.

Lone Wolf I think I'm just going to scrap entirely. Like I said, I don't really like the idea and looking back I agree that the health bonus is unneeded. My new idea is perhaps he throws down a large electrified smoke cloud. Similar to Mei's ult, it would be used primarily for area denial. In that aspect it would be better, but not as great for kills. The electricity wouldn't do much damage, just enough to disuade enemies from pushing through it.

As for Assassinate, I should probably tone down the damage yeah. The idea behind it was to encourage sneaky play. It inherently comes with risks in that you have to be right behind someone, which is hard enough as is. That, combined with the relatively small strike area and punishing cooldown, comes together to make a very high risk, but very high reward maneuver. It's not like hog's former one shot, which was right click -> left click -> kill. Then again, this is in theory and not in practice.

Thoughts?

Sorry for my silence, but today has been chaotic. I’ll read and reply either tonight or tomorrow. Still have 2 or 3 RTJs to process in my inbox, then I think we should be set. And for OP moves, remember Widowmaker’s head shot: “One shot, one kill.”
