Firearms

I do want to have firearms available to my players and a common thing throughout the world, most especially on the frontier.

To avoid a bunch of crap I don't have the capacity to deal with yet, and to make it simpler for the players who want a gun, but aren't a gun expert, here's what we are going to do:

There are four basic types:
-Revolver
-Carbine
-Shotgun
-Rifle

These are conventionally fired, powder-charged cartridge type firearms. They all use the same kind of ammo, with the exception of the shotgun for obvious reasons.

Revolver, Carbine and Rifle all use the same ammunition, let's call it around .350" (9mm) cartridges. And the shotgun uses .500" (13 mm) shells.

New forms of firearms are being explored as we speak: gemguns. More on that as developments arise.

Mounts

MOUNTS

Hill Vilgr

Vilgr - a large and ornery goat-like animal. Loyal to one person to the death. Long-lived and surprisingly intelligent.

A favored mount of the dwarves, who have kept detailed records of bloodlines.

Capable of carrying great weight through narrow mountain passes. Their wool is prized by clothiers and tailors for its soft and warm properties, even when wet.

Trsyn

A trsyn is a low-slung quadruped covered in vibrant feather-like scales. With the ability to run and climb at incredible speeds, a rider must be in peak physical condition (ST: 13 and above, DX: 14 and above).

With the exception of a goshi, no other animal moves with such perfection. Minimal telepathic skills allow this mount to be summoned to their rider within short distances.

This mount cannot be bought or sold. A trsyn must be captured through great difficulty shortly after weaning and successfully raised to maturity.

Horse

The good ol' fashioned horse... a versatile four-legged mount coming in many different variations.

Easily trained and hardy, these mounts provide quick travel to the explorer just starting her career.

Pony

The smaller cousin of the horse. Gentle-mannered as a rule and well suited for the smaller races. Hardy and long haired, they are normally found in the foothills and highlands.

Radan

The radan is a warm-blooded creature resembling a reptile. Tough scaly hide and semi-prehensile tail make this a unique creature. Speedy with excellent endurance, this bipedal mount lends itself well to desert climes.

Clurg

This massive, slow moving animal is the beast of burden for many land-based caravans. This gentle giant is easily bred and tough, allowing for use in all climates and also provides meat and materials for nomadic tribes of aborigines.
