Arlend and Kerrick

Here is where you two can post if you decided to interact. Currently you are both standing where the bones are being excavated, just outside the town of Malihorn.

Take it away!

Arlend and Kerrick

Oh and I probably didn't do a wonderful job of describing you to each other, so go ahead and do that for me first.

Thank you.

Arlend and Kerrick

Kerrick takes a look at the stranger followed by the group of kids. He is intrigued by the group and walks over to introduce himself.

"Well, hello folks. My name is Kerrick, and I've taken it upon myself to excavate these bones. Is there anything I could do for ya?" Kerrick takes a long pull on his flask.

Arlend and Kerrick

Arlend smiled and tilted his hat at the dwarf. "Ho, I'm Arlend, captain of the Windrunner, just pulled in today to drop off some cargo. 'tis good to meet you Kerrick..." he said, enjoying the sound of the title he was able to attribute himself.

"I'd heard some things about bones near Malihorn, and I have to say I was quite intrigued at the prospect of some unknown animals whose bones have been underground!I'm surprised they were so close.

What things do you expect to find here?
he asked enthusiastically, intrigued and hoping to prompt a tour.

And then there was Gren...

"Hi Kerrick! Hi mister! Who are you? That's a nice pistol! I have a slingshot! I'm Gren. Wow! Those bones are amazing! Is that really all from one thing? Hi Bird! Hey Kerrick, guess what? Sury is teaching me how to wrestle! It's fun... Are you guys hungry?"

**I'd just like you to picture the little three-foot-tall halfling here wresting with the 7' jaloo doe. I think it's amusing...**

As usual the hyperactive little halfling is stuffing food into his mouth while bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet. He offers sticks of barbecued meat out to you both.

And then there was Gren...

Hey there! Arlend replied in a friendly tone, and accepted the meat with graciousness of a hungry man.

"They are amazing indeed, I can't wait to hear what they're about

And then there was Gren...

Kerrick accepts the meat from Gren not realizing that he is hungry. He takes another look at Arlend, and isn't sure he wants to reveal all his plans for the bones.

"Well, Captain, we have uncovered a lot of bones that appear to be a large, 4-legged beast. We aren't sure what kind, but hope to put them together anatomically and find out what the nature of it is. My grandfather has a lot of experience with bones and anatomy, so that's what we plan to do. What kind of goods are you dropping off at the carnival?"

And then there was Gren...

Arlend nodded "Ah, it's a family trade, then eh? It would seem an interesting thing to see what kinds of animals may have roamed about these places, could give some indication about what may be around for us to find. Is there a way I might be able to keep up to date on these findings? While being absolutely uneducated in such things, it is very intriguing and I don't doubt that like myself, my crew would be interested in such revelations. he said enthusistically, unashamedly and emphatically displaying his interest in the whole project. It was something entirely new to him.

"Goods are simply provisions from Riato, simple things that might not be available here, fish and such. A few people came to travel here also, we provided transport.

I'm not bashful to admit that we are a fairly new vessel and in the early stages of making our contacts and routes, so for now we will trade what people need the most.

And then there was Gren...

"I would be glad to keep you informed of what we find. We anticipate it taking a while, so I'm not sure how long you will be in town. However," Kerrick says as he lowers his voice and gets closer to the Captain, "my family has significant knowledge in Necromancy, and I am currently studying it at the moment. My grandfather and I would like to see the skeleton eventually animated, but I want to keep that more under-wraps."

OOC:

Kerrick also has a side thought about possibly building up his alchemy to a point where he may be able to sell his potions through the young captain.

And then there was Gren...

Arlend was taken aback a little at the admission, with an immediate sense of revulsion that often accompanied things that were unknown and alien to a person. He did regain his composure quickly, however, and painted upon his face some level of interest that matched one part of what he felt at it.

"Necromancy? Animated? Such things of magic are beyond my ken I'm sorry to say. What would you do with such a thing?

Kerrick took a generous swig of his flask and wiped his mouth. "Well, to be honest, we haven't gotten that far. We dont even know if the animation will work. I can tell you, though, that if it's anything like my skeletons, I'll be able to command it with the bond of necromancy."

And then there was Gren...

Arlend raised an eyebrow, first at the drink and then at the man's seemingly loose tongue. The two often paired well, but the newly-donned captain thought best to take everything he came across with a more open mind and consider what was going on before he made rash judgement. Some things were truly beyond his knowledge and this was one of them.

"... to what end? What would you command a skeleton to do? he asked before raising his hand to indicate casually that he would like a swig of the flask.

And then there was Gren...

Kerrick handed the flask to the captain, and glanced back at his posse of children nearby.

"Honestly, I would imagine I could command him to do anything, but my personal experience with the dead has been an extra pair of hands during a rough encounter. I would imagine you also have some sort of command over those young ones? The big difference between you and I is that the skeletons I control don't have any opinion about what I ask them to do."

Arlend frowned at the statement, I suppose it means they'd be willing to do anything, all the 'rough' work that may be a little unsightly or bad for anyone else. But also, without a mind of their own, it'd be so limited would it not? he asked.

OOC:

If you guys are cool with it, I'm just going to temporarily pause this thread, saying Arlend got called away by a message from one of his crew saying shit was going down on his ship, causing him to run off mid-conversation.

If you guys think there was any pertinent information that should have passed hands, just list it out and we'll play it like that...

Like I said, if that's cool with you two.
