Mipphy's Vision
The young gungan heads to his quarters eager to rest after a successful mission. Without evening turning off the lights, Mipphy flops down on his bunk and, within minutes, is sound asleep. From Mipphy’s desk, a slate-grey cube floats silently into the air. It opens the room begins to dim. Slowly, light is siphoned away until the room is pitch black, the only color the pale, grey light radiating from the holocron.
Unaware, Mipphy dreams he is back home. Back on Naboo. However, it is not the vast oceanic cities of the Gungans where Mipphy finds himself but, instead, in Naboo’s lush, unsettled forests. There, Mipphy walks through a shaded wood. The daylight is waning but Mipphy is not deterred. Something in the distance catches Mipphy’s eye.
Ahead, a familiar four-legged beast lies whimpering in a blood-stained clearing. A kath-hound. The beast is not native to Naboo, Mipphy knows. Yet, here it lies. Mipphy approaches. The kath-hound lays on its’ side, a deep wound visible on its’ upturned flank. A peculiar crystal lies at the kath-hound’s feet, colorless but shimmering all the same. Before Mipphy can bend to retrieve it, the crystal rises up from the ground, floating to Mipphy’s height.
The force, A male voice speaks with quiet authority, is colorless, a tool to be used by the wielder. Just like this blade. The crystal floats down, hovering above the kath-hound’s wound. There, Mipphy can see a dagger protruding from the beast’s flesh. The question is, how will you use it? The crystal pulls back, now resting level on Mipphy’s shoulder. The gungan can feel a presence watching him as he assesses the situation.
Mipphy’s gaze falls on the dagger. Indeed. The voice follows his train of thought. You could kill the beast, after all life is nothing without death and, in its’ state, it would be a mercy. At the suggestion, a fierce glow emanates from the crystal, white and searing hot.
Mipphy continues to think. The wound flows with blood, a flow that could still be quelled. Yes. The voice agrees. You could mend the beast. Save it from it’s fate. The crystal glows with a soft, green light.
Is fate, however, not the force’s will. The voice draws Mipphy’s mind to another option. Yes, you could leave the beast. Allow fate to transpire as it may. Intervention is not always the way. A pale blue light comes from the crystal, clear and cool.
The choice, padawan, is yours. Mipphy wakes suddenly, the thought still ringing in his ears. Light has returned to the room. Mipphy sees the holocron lying open on his desk and knows the voice’s source. It waits, patiently, for an answer.
Mipphy gains 2 ranks in craft(force weapon) or craft(lightsaber) and may choose a crystal to pursue.
